Maureen O'Connell, former FBI special agent, mentioned a couple of times in an interview on Fox that the second ransom note began with Dear Savannah. (In the interview, O'Connell gets the name wrong the first few times, saying "Dear Samantha." She corrects herself.)

She's focused on the word "dear" but it was the absence of all the other names that struck me. It's addressed to Savannah alone. The relevant clip starts at 4m42s in this video.

I remember someone who'd seen the first note saying it was was braggadocios (something like that), because it made assertions like "you'll never guess my identity" and other similar things, but I can't find that clip now. At the time I saw it, I assumed the notes would become public quite soon and didn't pay it much attention. Anyone recall seeing it?

A couple of weeks ago, I was sure that the real target of this crime was meant to be Savannah. Someone wanting to punish her or cause her distress.

Seeing the perp video and following the police searches made me think it was perhaps a local, opportunistic criminal group. Now, I'm not sure how to balance those two ideas.

And there you have it, just as I said many pages ago. This should refocus efforts away from the DNA and into finding Nancy. The perp in this case was unsophisticated and will make mistakes...like carrying a cellphone without realizing that it will ping at the cell towers. Now it should be a simple matter of getting a court order, getting a tower dump from the nearest cell tower and analyzing cell phone numbers that showed up during that window.

Then if DNA is found in the glove and matched to the cell phone data, there is probable cause for a search warrant. But more importantly, teams need to be sent out to search for Nancy, because even if DNA is matched, all it will do is lead to a person of interest, which requires investigation which can take days or weeks...time Nancy does not likely have.

Wow. Reading this, I can’t help but wonder whether @Napoli may be right about a star-crazed fan fixated on SG. Perhaps sees or likens himself to a character in these movies from which he is asking to have quotes spoken. But if so, how is he communicating those requests (maybe in the more recent money request….?)

Based on his appearance and the way he lingered at front door area so long, I’d have thought that front porch guy was an accomplice assigned with clearing the way of any surveillance so the person inside could come out the front door with NG. And I cannot imagine two delusional perpetrators.

So then left with either one delusional person working alone or with two psychopaths working together and also “twisting the knife” in NG’s already agonized family with movie quote requests?

Or house invader/abduction criminal(s) and quote-requesting criminals are unrelated and two entirely different things.

Re: Latest Harvey Levin communication. I doubt a Latino who is intimately related to Mexico or central America, or someone who is intimately in contact with a criminal cartel/gang located there, is going to refer to it as "South of the Border". Probably just a lunatic opportunist.

Personally I believe there’s every chance they took her to Mexico, but also every chance that they didn’t.

I’d assume that the surveillance at Border Patrol would have this on camera, but they likely had her in the trunk during the crossing, or tied up on the floor of the car.

Still not too sure at all that this Mexican crossing is the actual scenario.

A side note: thinking today about how SG and her siblings not only must face loss of their mother but of their beloved family home. If NG had vanished from another location I imagine being in her home together would have been a comfort. I grieved losing my mother’s house. It was my back-up home. My safe place. Minor, I know, but even more violation.

IMO the perp in the video didn't enter through the front door. Rather he or somebody inside unlocked the front door from the inside prior to moving through it to their vehicle on the driveway right by the front door and front walk way.

How he dealt with the nest cam should be interesting to LE. Surely they had cased the house and knew there was a nest cam. Maybe originally they were going to go out through the back door and side yard and thought they wouldn't be seen on the nest cam driving away from the scene, which could have been true but a huge risk.

But, either way, he acted totally calm and unbothered by seeing the nest cam. He didn't just spray paint it or cover it with duct tape while he disabled it. He also didn't seem prepared with a screwdriver or nest cam tool to take it off the door. Just from the video, his body language seemed calm, unstressed and almost casual as he looked around for something to disable the nest cam or to cover the nest cam, and then, without seeming stressed or in a big rush, he picked up the lantana to use.

Personally, I think the lantana was a stroke of genius. To me it means he’s a problem solver.

IMO after Friday night's SWAT raid and with then newest DNA info that we aren't privy to, LE and FBI are focused on particular people as the perpetrators.

Probably not through a major entry like Nogales, but thousands of Americans go back and forth every day across the border. For some it's just a daily commute, including non-Latino US citizens. Just for example:

The area is a major international gateway, with pedestrian and vehicle traffic heavily integrated between Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Sonora.

Ok, I have to assume LE has been looking through the Nogales border camera feed for the entire two weeks, in case the perps did go to Mexico, took NG. ( I doubt they took NG there). JMO

I think the perps might have gone to Mexico, but I seriously doubt they had NG in the car( unless back seat lying down, blanket or trunk. ) Taking NG across the border seems too risky, and why care for an older woman in Mexico? Do they expect to set up an ongoing payment arrangement? SG is the cash cow, extending out a supposed kidnapping. Very unlikely they have NG in Mexico.
Since no proof of life, very unlikely the ransom or tip info is real, JMO.

Anyway, I’m glad there is continuing communication from someone who thinks he knows something, maybe it will help solve this mystery!

Lots of time and manpower spent on this case! I know, I know very obvious. Just saying…
I’m all for it, just adding it up, blown away!

I’d like to know what it costs all together, when the case is solved. AZ county, FBI, private experts, plus numerous people had to miss work ( SG, family, people who were investigated)
Much, much more. Experts who work on these cases are not cheap, but vital to the mission.

List of significant LE action to solve crime:
1. Reviving a non subscription camera feed( very time consuming). Cloud, lots of proprietary coding, several entities involved.
2. An army of FBI, including swat, doing raids, multiple interviews with detectives.
3. Searching Walmart camera feed to find perp images. Searching disguise clothing, gear, tools.
4. Ground searches, detectives and dogs, air flyover searches, body heat searches, pacemaker searches. Geofence phone searches. Tech searches of computers, home equipment. Searches of multiple homes.
5. Paragon genetic genealogy lab, getting close “ matches” distant relatives, doing family trees, a lot of expert time. Then when down to 2-3 people, long interviews, alibis etc.
6. Loads of very smart, very talented investigators, scientists, hoping for a break soon.

It just irks me that we taxpayers foot the bill for these investigations of creeps, and then keeping the preps safely in prison for life, meanwhile poor NG was taken against her will, she did not deserve that!

Just my opinion, you are right, I to wonder how much. I can't find the link, but SG made some calls and got the troops to come in. President Trump said he would help by sending as many fbi's as possible from all around the country. I'm almost positive this family has put up a lot of money themselves. It's their mom. Jmo

Most people NG's age living alone would presumably have an emergency necklace or something that they can press at any time to call 911. I think it is to ensure they can get help if they have a fall or a medical emergency. How could an unknown intruder know if she had this or not? Only an insider would know this (that she didn't have one). I am leaning towards someone in her inner circle hiring a kidnapper or hitman off the dark web and that is the perp caught on camera. Maybe they even used bitcoin as payment. MOO.

I was living by Boulder at the time of JBR and knew LE on the case. I have my very strong opinions on all but this case, oddly enough, has some similiar factors in many ways. I do think they will be able to solve this case in time, tho. I hope they do! I wish all cases were solved! Thanks to all those who serve us!
