I don't believe he is incompetent. I have read some articles from his past that have led me to not have a very high opinion of him. The handling of this case hasn't done anything to improve my opinion. MOO
I have similar feelings. I'm not about to join a fan club for him, that's for sure. I don't think he's incompetent or inexperienced or not up to the job though. He reportedly seems to have some personality/ego type conflicts with a lot of his department and other departments though which inevitably affects their ability to work together. A very mixed bag.

Interesting that it probably costs $$ for the Florida lab. The FBI? Zero.
Yup!! Moo, Sheriff wants control over the FBI. He loves the camera and interviews.

I believe the family was cleared very early and he refused to state, wanted to keep the gossip and interviews going. Moo.. he’s changed his tune and a complete turn on his messaging about the family, after the sister and SIL have been dragged through the press. Might he have been contacted by legal representation from the family?

He knows the FBI has greater resources and capabilities. Is he trying to delay finding NG, for his vanity? He clearly has a vendetta against the FBI. Moo

The footage of the kidnapper lulling around with the foliage gives me good hope. It just reeks of meth/crank intake. That tends to make people less methodical.
I got meth vibes from it too. Just super crazy. But the layered masking is not messy.

AG owns a Jewelry Store!
Link, please.

IMO that was true, years ago, but I don’t see any evidence that she owns a jewelry store now.
“People out there can get pretty ugly and mean and nasty and not have the facts,” Nanos said. “I tell my journalists, you guys need to be a little more responsible… because that's just really nasty stuff.”

“I stay in touch with them, mostly Savannah,” Nanos said. “I've not been in touch with [son-in-law] Tommaso [Cioni] or Annie [Guthrie] too much.”

But he added that the Guthrie family has been “nothing but cooperative.”
BBM

Just my opinion, but his use of “my” rubs me the wrong way. Do these journalists belong to him? That word implies ownership or appropriation. IMO I’ve never heard a LEO describe journalists this way.

I think you are right. Decades ago, I worked with a man whose sister was an anchor for a station in Yuma, AZ.

He told me that she got a steady stream of fan mail ranging from the affirming, to the "Love you, but your outfit or make up is a complete disaster today" to the mildly creepy to the disturbing.

Reinforcing your good point about straight on camera and intimacy, news anchors give those ohhh so soulful personal looks nearly every day. So, unlike movie actresses where creeps need to wait until the next movie for an "intimate connection", those fixated on new broadcasters get to see their girl every, well morning.

That's terrifying.

Thinking more on a potential SG dangerous stalker theory... I believe she went out on medical leave Dec 2025 for vocal surgery. This was likely a month plus recovery period where she's not hosting 'Today', depriving this potential unhinged person of fixating on her almost daily. So, they do the unthinkable and go after her mom to create news and ultimately deeply hurt SG emotionally. I think this sounds far fetched as I'm typing it but people can hold bizarre resentment and ruminate on things. IMO

1. It does not take an experienced genealogist weeks to build a tree for the purpose of identifying a person who is living today. You do not need to go that far back in the tree. This kind of tree can be done quickly. It is not time consuming or cumbersome.
2. If a person is living in the US and grandparents were born here, you are going to get closer than 5th cousin matches.
3. Yes genetic genealogy is challenging with a lot of moving parts. You must know basic DNA science, have excellent genealogy skills, and an understanding of research methods and investigative skills. But there are people who do it every day and have the required skill set.
Just to add the resources behind this case are 'substantial'. Most cases don't get Presidential comments, let alone 'resources' behind the comments.

If the suspect (s) is following the news, which I suspect they are, they should know her death does not mean the pacemaker automatically stops sending signals.... at least not yet. IMO

I also think the signal sniffer scan LE is doing is to aid in body recovery. IMO

Years ago neighbor across the street had lots of health issues including a pacemaker, he shot his self in the head.
When the paramedics arrived the blood was pumping out of his head, they had to remove the pacemaker to stop the flow.

I watched all the usual commentary shows last night and one theme prevailed and it is consistent with my thoughts. The statement from Nanos yesterday "clearing " the family apparently does not mean that FBI has cleared anyone. Most feel that in order to clear anyone you need to be pretty certain you are closing in on the actual perp(s). The story about the 40 photos taken to gun stores does not make me feel like they are really closing in on anyone. It seems reporters and streamers out at the site daily have now taken to interviewing each other as so little news coming out. Meantime life goes on at the NG home with pool cleanings and landscape services etc. I hope NG comes home but doubt she will be living in that home again. This story sure has made me cautious in the future before letting any workers in my home or engaging in much conversation with them.

It is possible that the DNA sent to Florida was done before the FBI was involved. IMO

I feel like the suspect on NG porch was wearing a Columbia Ascenda from walmart. Different versions of all parts of his jacket can be seen in Columbia jackets. Have they said what his exact jacket was?

The have not said but Columbia logo is usually stitched into the jacket and there isn’t a logo on suspect’s jacket. It would be a lot more work to remove stitching than buying a generic fleece jacket imo. But it definitely looks like the style of popular fleece jackets.

Interesting. Was this the opinion presented on the show you watched? I was feeling like they ARE closing in on the actual perp (or at least suspected actual perp), but are awaiting some confirmation evidence via DNA or other forensics that hasn't returned. The gun store situation could simply be them trying to tie other evidence to same perp to build a tighter case? I would LOVE to see those photos they are showing around.

What is this fixation on being "cleared". When the perpetrator(s) is caught they will be treated exactly the same whether they have previously been "cleared" or not.

I feel like there's been so much back and forth about DNA, when and where it was found, etc. that it's anyone's guess. If they found DNA in the first day or two at the crime scene, I would think it would be back by now? I don't think we ever got a clear concise confirmation of that though.

With people wanting to explore the idea of it being an SG stalker..in almost all cases people start smaller such as commenting on posts, liking things, accidently "bumping into them" or in social media, following them on all platforms, sending fan letters way before it becomes stalking and then way before it becomes kidnap and possible murder of a loved one. So question, did SG have a creepier person attached to her, a stalker? Someone sending lots of letters? Im sure the police would know this?

I see weird comments on local news anchors Facebook all the time. Its unnerving!

What are meths vibes? I have never seen anyone on meth (that I was aware of) so I am wondering what that looks like. Given that meth is a stimulant, I would have thought a person wouldn't look sluggish or relaxed.

Disagree.. It can take years to build a tree because you need to match DNA with records. No DNA or records sometimes. You might see that one uncle had a son, but that daughter doesn't have any birth records listed (oddly happens). Then you are back to square one, especially when parents are dead, and the family has no idea who this hidden cousin is.

To stop the never-ending speculation about SIL, and maybe reduce by a fraction the gut-wrenching pain of family members. jmo

Good morning!

I see references to "40 photos" being shown to the gun shops LE are canvassing. Where is the info about the 40 photos coming from? I've seen reports about the canvassing but not the 40 photos.
