To stop the never-ending speculation about SIL, and maybe reduce by a fraction the gut-wrenching pain of family members. jmo
you can be "cleared" one day and next day be back on the "list" again.

We're only allowed to reference certain media sources, and I believe he's one of the allowable ones, so I assume he'd been vetted by WS and considered reliable.
Thanks! That makes a big difference to me if he's been vetted by WS appreciate you sharing.

The APS card makes me wonder. I'm not elderly, but if I was and I got financially scammed, I'm not sure I would tell my family and friends. I suppose it's situational.
THIS. Part of my current job as a PIO (public information officer) is figuring out ways to make everyone, but especially the elderly, aware of these scams. And they are historically underreported crimes because the victims are too embarrassed to admit they were taken or are in denial or both. Stats I've seen (IMO because I no longer remember the source, but it was a government website) estimate that only about 30 percent of victims report these crimes. Just my opinion as someone trying to get the word out so more people aren't scammed.

I cringe every time I read a story about another person losing their life's savings, and I read them depressingly often. AI has made it even easier to pull of scams like the grandkid needing bail scam. Not saying that NG was dealing with this, but she wouldn't be the first smart person to get scammed. JMO

Is anyone aware of another case where LE (US based) took ransom notes seriously without any sort of proof of life?

Just curious why these notes may stand out. Family is committed to believing them? I know one of them mentioned info only the perp would know, but it seems like this investigation may have a lot of leaks.

Disagree.. It can take years to build a tree because you need to match DNA with records. No DNA or records sometimes. You might see that one uncle had a son, but that daughter doesn't have any birth records listed (oddly happens). Then you are back to square one, especially when parents are dead, and the family has no idea who this hidden cousin is.
There could be multiple reason it could take along time to build out a family tree. Endogamy, adoptions come to mind.

Or they can say that someone is "cleared" when in reality they are still on the "list" and are "suspect".

It’s still based on sequence comparison. Right? I mean you get matches based on submitted DNA that is processed and formatted for comparison.

I’m a bioinformatician not a genetic genealogist, so maybe I missed something.

I believe they can if the person has opted into having their DNA shared. JMO
The few "biggest" being Ancestry for example, due to privacy regulations. Gedmatch does have opt in, but you have to upload to it by first downloading your raw data file from one of "The big DNA sites" .

True, but unless that happens, we're not allowed to openly sleuth or discuss the person.

MY very savvy SIL was scammed to the tune of 20thousand two months ago. Bank called her and took measures, but she is still out 20grand. She told me and only a few others, and is totally feeling like an idiot. It's just RAMPANT out there! JMO

Yes but you need to find records with a name or something to be able to physically locate that person. It's no good saying this DNA matches a second cousin of this parent, but we do not know what the name of that person.is, what year they where born, where they live, who the married. This is where the issue lays.

I still think they are taking them seriously, I have not heard any official source say they are not. ONLY COMMENTATORS. SG is , imo, responding to them and they are scripted, also, imo, by LE/FBI. IF they were NOT being taken seriously, this manpower would not be wasted on this. Again I say, Pay attention to what you dont hear from LE. JMO

Thank you! I’ve enjoyed (that word seems very wrong for this situation) reading your theories.

I thought about stalker getting to SG initially but veered away. However, that seems to be one of the theories LE hasn’t ruled out yet (like you’ve said).

I’m not super familiar with the Today Show, but I think someone mentioned SG was on leave due to surgery (MOO). Could explain the escalation?

Given he was the only media member who figured out where the SWAT raid was happening Friday, I’m assuming he has a very solid inside source.
And my guess, about why BE has such a reliable inside source, is that he is not a big blabber mouth who sensationalizes; quite the opposite imo he is thoughful and stays within the boundaries of responsible reporting.

Just what I have seen so JMO

What are meths vibes? I have never seen anyone on meth (that I was aware of) so I am wondering what that looks like. Given that meth is a stimulant, I would have thought a person wouldn't look sluggish or relaxed.
Just amped up creeping around a house with a light in your mouth and multiple gloves and multiple masks and a weird gun situation and playing with flowers. That's not very smooth. What type of person does a cartoon character assassin?

To me this is not ok. A kidnapping or possible murder should always have priority, ofcourse the handled information should not be misused and only dealt with by LE outside of the database personel.
I really do understand the privacy problem but for me it's always been like "if i have nothing to hide then what is the problem?"
This ofcourse is just my personal opinion and i respect the fact that everybody thinks differently on this privacy thing 😅

I'm new to this site, this is my first posting. I've been following this case closely and have some thoughts. I've spent the last couple days trying to communicate with the FBI then with the Pima County Sheriff via email, I have not received a reply, no idea if anyone has seen my emails. Anyway I've been trying to put myself in the villain's head and arrived at the following thoughts. This guy is also following the news very close and he sees everything we see on TV. I have no idea his initial game plan, burglary, home invasion, kidnap for ransom, the perfect crime? Whatever I would guess Guthrie is long dead and this idiot has long ago decided he's way, way, over his head and is now in survival mode, how do I not get caught? Hopefully, the FBI and Sheriff have already thought of this but the suggestion I was trying to communicate to them was to ask the community to report any small fires or smoke they have recently observed, this might even be smoke from a chimney. I'm guessing this guy would be destroying every piece of evidence he has, gloves, mask, holster, backpack, jacket, shoes, etc. This might have been done in the past week or ten + days. Maybe you've lived next door to a neighbor for the past couple years and recently you observed smoke from the chimney for THE FIRST TIME EVER! Broadcast to entire community you're looking for any recent burnings or smoke, where there's smoke there's fire and just maybe the suspect! It's a long shot but it's something......How can I, you, we, get this suggestion to the FBI or Sheriff, any thoughts?
Welcome!
