“As long as we have the ability to chase a lead, it’s not cold,” Chris Nanos said.

Tucson Crime Stoppers’ reward has grown by $100,000 thanks to a donation, bringing the total reward for information leading to an arrest to $102,500.

Tucson Crime Stoppers, known locally as 88-CRIME, announced the increased reward on social media earlier today, noting the $100,000 was being offered by a private donor.

“For the Guthrie case, the $100,000 donation has been verified and will be available to eligible tipsters once the verification process confirms that the tip directly resulted in an arrest,” James Allerton, the 88-Crime Program coordinator said.

This reward is in addition to the $100,000 reward offered by the FBI.

Was LD caught up in this because he purchased the wrong vehicle? If so I imagine the previous owner has been questioned and investigated.

Not too happy to hear this as polygraph rests are not fully reliable.
There is a reason they are not admissible in court and nobody should ever agree to take one---even if innocent.
I do have a question, if polygraphs aren’t admissible in court then why do people agree to them? Assuming this is a this scare tactic or a way to try to
force confessions? I’m assuming people agree to them to try to prove their innocence but what happens when you refuse one. Is it admissible in court to be used against you if a poly was refused?

Polygraph tests conducted as officials promise update on Guthrie case

Fox News has learned polygraph tests are being conducted at the Pima County Sheriff’s Department amid the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie.

While authorities would not confirm the tests are connected to the case, the sheriff’s department promised “an update is coming soon.”

I don’t think LD resembles the sketch. LD’s face looks long and the sketch has a square face, IMO.
I agree. Porch Guy has fuller lips as well.

On his inmate info sheet? (Idk how you guys call that data form with info of the inmate, sorry 😅)
Yes. I may be wrong but it doesn't seem to match.

I only just read Adelita's quote and I REALLY do not think she is referring to Websleuths. The reporter Matt chose to use the word "sleuths" in his intro. IMO she is just referencing every man and his dog across all SM platforms... X, TT, FB, YT, IG et al who are making false accusations, assumptions, stating that multiple certain persons look EXACTLY like mask guy and repeating just about every other snippet of goss out there.

I read comments on Savannah's FB page yesterday and was flabbergasted by some of the theories posted TO SG about members of her family (WTF? on her own FB, to her!!) as well as other comments, ie - "why don't you put up $1 mil reward ??"

Social Media is literally out of control and insane!!
That's horrific that people are posting such cruel things on her fb. What is wrong with people :(

That's what I'm interested in. Although there are many tangled webs in this case.

FBI guy is right. Sophisticated criminals steal their gear or pay with cash at flea markets.

If Walmart is the perps “Criminal Depot”, he’s not sophisticated.

MOO
I agree that any specialized equipment would either be stolen, custom made, or bought with cash from somewhere well known to them. But you don't need specialized equipment to kidnap someone unless you're in a movie, or trying to kidnap the President or the CEO of a big company. You just need non descript clothing, and know enough about the person you're kidnapping to get the job done properly, which this person evidently did not, since they didn't research their victim well enough to know about her health. You have to know the family's ability and willingness to pay the ransom. And you have to figure out a transfer that will work. It seems the did a pretty poor job. MOOooo

respectfully, do we actually know this? has it been confirmed?

Good point. We actually don't know that Lantana man took NG out to a car. Perhaps it was a ruse. This case is unlike any other. I'm baffled.

Adding onto this: I'm not going to link, but a member of Adelita's staff was getting erroneously sleuthed on social media around the time the SWAT happened on Friday (when a wrong address was floating around), so that probably has some influence on her statement. JMO.

Are we allowed to discuss LD now?
Earlier, SillyBilly made (at my request) a statement that said we could not discuss LD as a possible suspect. However, I made that decision before I heard the Sheriff's statement. That interview is linked at the bottom of this post.
The Sheriff did not clear LD. He said they are still processing evidence and pointedly added, “What if Nancy’s DNA is found…,” making it clear the investigation remains open.

PLEASE USE HIS INITIALS. Since LE did not come out and say he was cleared, yes, LD can be discussed, but do not DOX him or post addresses and names of relatives.

PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE. INITIALS ONLY

I don’t think this is likely if we are assuming at least some of the ransom notes were legitimate. I would also think there is probably some logical middle ground between “oops we robbed the wrong house” and “better kidnap the sole occupant and hold her for ransom.”

JMO

Concur. It just adds another theory to the mix, if an unlikely one. My view is if a perp went through the trouble of learning the occupants, their trade, their address and their wifi name, he's probably going to case it well and rob the right house.

And jewelry heist types don't generally rob people while they're home. Any unforeseen noise and they tend to take a raincheck.

No, the prosecution can not use a refusal to take a polygraph against a defendant. Not admissible. Polygraphs are mostly pressure tactics. See who refuses and who "fails".

Sheriff believes NG is alive because there's no proof of death. Who is going to send a photo of a deceased person to LE? And, why would they?
I’m keeping the faith. I think she’s alive too.

Yes. I may be wrong but it doesn't seem to match.
Idk i can't tell someone's ethnicity from a web page but i assumed a form from inmates shows accurate info. Maybe i'm wrong, also idk if it really matters at this point unless it's DNA specific and comes back as some sort of ethnicity 😅

There has been a lot of back and forth about a single image of the masked man which I'll call the No-Backpack Image
Note that the backpack straps and gun are not visible:

So far I've seen people claim:
  • "The FBI used AI to manipulate the image"
  • "Media used AI to manipulate the image"
  • "This is proof that the FBI actually have more videos"
  • "It's a different person altogether"
I don't know if any of those are true, but what I've done to check is downloaded each of the images and videos released by Cash Patel (Director of the FBI) from this source to compare them, and I've discovered a few interesting clues:
  • The No-Backpack image is not a single frame from any of the three videos released to the public (altered or not) - The man has a completely different pose.
  • There is no meta data showing the original date created (if there was, it was lost when the image was uploaded to X)
  • The "Nest" logo is not shown (is it cropped?)
  • The image size is tiny - resolution is 367 x 546 pixels - this is basically just a thumbnail
  • No-Backpack man is not casting a shadow from the moonlight before he steps under the cover of the the porch (in the other videos, his shadow is obvious)

FIrstly, I have overlaid the No-Backpack image (367x546) over one of the FBI's other full resolution images (1536x2048) to compare the size. This makes the size / resolution disparity quite obvious:

Next I have grabbed a capture from one of the videos that shows the man, roughly in the same position, before he enters the porch (right).
No-Backpack man (left) casts no shadow. Backpack man (right) casts an obvious shadow from the Moonlight
(Note I have cropped/resized images to match each other)

For reference Moonrise on that night was around 4:54 p.m. local time, and moonset was about 6:44 a.m. the next morning.
At around 2am the moon (almost full, 98% brightness) was in the west (to the left looking out of the porch)
The weather in Tuscon at the time was clear. So there should have been bright moonlight all night.

So what does this tell us ?
1. No-Backpack image was taken at a different time
  • Without meta data we don't know the date/time
  • We can probably assume that it was before the other videos (since it looks like he eventually ripped the doorbell camera off its mount and took it with him)
  • It could have been the same evening, but a random cloud was obscuring the moon at that moment
  • It could be days before (a reconnaissance mission perhaps?)

2. The properties of No-Backpack image is significantly different to the other images/videos
  • It's cropped (not full frame - refer to the image with the hand/glove - way more of the brick archway is visible)
  • It is very low resolution - meaning it might be a thumbnail or a still image from a notification
Thumbnails are a graphic representation of one or multiple files, like when you're looking through a photo gallery with 18 images shown on your screen, each of those small images are a single, low resolution thumbnail file.
Without them, you would only see a list of filenames.

Notification images are like a snapshot of an event that might be shown in the Nest App. Again, low resolution.
With Thumbnails and Notification images, the metadata does not necessarily reflect the time that the original image was captured. So Google/FBI may not know what time/date the No-Backpack event actually happened.

3. Was the image manipulated/altered to remove the backpack/gun?
- We can't tell for sure, but I think it's very unlikely.

4. Is No-Backpack image from another video that hasn't been released?
- Probably not. If the FBI had a full resolution video, it would not make any sense to crop and resize a single frame to release to the public in such low resolution).

That's all I have. I hope it clears things up a little, and I apologise for the essay.
We use nest and have their doorbell camera. On the app there is a “familiar faces” option that tracks people with a thumbnail image that’s reviewable. The images don’t have the nest icon on the top. I wonder if this was a separate occurrence (maybe Jan 11?)?

The jacket looks totally different, too!
I never caught the shadow! Good find.
