They had already collected all of the evidence before the scene was released on Monday morning February 2nd.

A crime scene is released when LE have secured all necessary information, notes, and evidence.

They didn't know a ransom note was going to be sent the evening of the date they released the crime scene.

I am critical of them for releasing the crime scene when they did - only because they didn't know if they were going to be successful in recovering the door nest cam footage. Keep in mind they didn't recover that footage until about 10 days later IIRC.
“collected all the evidence “ Are you sure about that?

Not late , check the due date

Relatively early in this (obviously enormously long) thread, someone in Tucson explained how the payment for that bill is due this quarter, not last quarter.

Truth is ,somebody somewhere knows something. In digital world where everything is recorded on some kind of device. If they were map out the Guthrie house with the closest business in all directions and watch all available cvc footage from time of believed kidnapping and watch and note all vehicles traveling towards Guthrie house then account time it would take to take her and then see which cars come back threw..yes it would take alot of man hours but it's something and I'm positive the perp will be right there

question for the floor. does anyone see blood on lantana man? i don't.

possibly useful little data point if we assume he'd already gone in and out another door, some interaction with NG had already happened, and he was preparing an exit from the front. might constrain when or how she was hurt, or who did it (assuming accomplices).

  • #36,885
I think the blood was aspirated from a blow to the nose and it was either from her nose itself or her mouth (a cough or a sneeze).
I’m having trouble visualizing how a cough could splatter straight down in such a small area.

Not saying that’s wrong, and I thought it was something like that, too. But then I listened to several CSIs discuss it, and the consensus seems to be droplets hitting droplets when she was stationary for a few moments.

I am skeptical of this. Earlier this week this same helicopter was circling NGs home and also various search-like circles around Tucson all at 500 ft and under 80kts.

I find it hard to be believe that LE has only used the sniffer device the one time over her house on February 3 and by foot when agents went door to door. Has LE seriously not thought to check the local landfill? I know there's a million possible spots NG could be but the landfill seems like a plausible location to cross off the list for peace of mind in the investigation.
JMO
NewNation had a reporter on live TV with that helicopter in the air., she stated that it was doing signal sniffing. I remember posting about it when I saw the coverage.. it was last Monday.

Yeah. The perp must have driven past some cameras. Shouldn't be THAT hard to track down the vehicle.

nosebleeds go staight down and tend to have rounder droplets.
Someone facing straight down can have a similar pattern, with for instance an eyebrow wound.
A laceration on an extremity will encounter some friction and start to coalesce hence, the same amount of blood will have a larger more irregular drop.
Dr Baden mentioned possible bleeding from the hands. Hands can be hortizonal or vertical.
Larger trauma will result in pooling.

Sheriff dispels Adult Protective Services speculation in Nancy Guthrie case

Sheriff dispels Adult Protective Services speculation in Nancy Guthrie case

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos (Jan Sonnenmair/Getty Images)
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed speculation involving Adult Protective Services in the case of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, clarifying that after a neighbor made a call, APS sent an investigator to her home the day she was reported missing.

“The day she was reported missing a neighbor called Adult Protective Services,” Nanos said. “They sent an investigator to check on her.”

Fox News Digital's Michael Ruiz contributed to this report.

*****THE CALL TO APS WAS MADE THE DAY NG WENT MISSING*****
Remember, "the day" is all day. So if something was out that should not have been, or if someone normally called to come over to take out her trash cans or get her mail or have a cup of coffee on the back porch or something, anyone could have called from morning on. If they called at 10 am, no one knew she was missing yet.

This was my fault for misunderstanding the taxes and I already deleted the original post.

Per the link the neighbors did not know what was going on with the large response.

Only the neighbor knows why they called but I feel confident that it was made out of pure concern and love for Mrs. Guthrie and her family.

The neighbors have been quoted expressing their love for their kind, friendly neighbor NG.

Questioning repeatedly, publicly, when a neighbor has already been outed as the caller, and pressing for why a neighbor would call is disregarding the privacy of NG and the confidentiality of a citizens report.

All imo
2 days ago, someone put up the procedure for calling APS. It showed a drop down list . Caller..then..about at least10 different optons. One said neighbor. No one specific neighbor has come forward to say they were the caller. If so, please document. Many posts a couple of weeks ago were pretty intrusive talking about another neighbor who was on camera and said he lived 15 minutes away. Many here said why was he inserting himself in the investigation? Sly remarks and I think even initials were made available. I just read and rolled by.

We have all slogged through 100s of pages about a cheap nylon gun holster. No one complained. Bring up a point of inconsistency about an APS card which would be a question mark since the case was all over the airwaves and would be superfluous considering the amount of attention immediately given and that she was not even there and that fact was KNOWN if you had TV on, and people get perturbed. IMO

Whoever put up that great APS list please put it up again. If the neighbor has been "outed" the specific neighbor who made the call..please advise. Otherwise, some of us will continue to think this was "odd" and just as potentially important as a nylon gun holster. Nanos said "they sent a neighbor to check on her. IT WAS WELL KNOWN SHE WASNT THERE! And for all the Nanos detractors, suddenly he is on the money? " Thanks. JMO IMO

IMO, they have done this, which is why they’ve detained two men with gray SUVs and asked for neighbors to look for ‘gray trucks’ in their home surveillance videos.

What I find most amazing is that IF there really is an accomplice, that loose lips haven't sunk the ship by now. This has become a mystery attracting world-wide attention. To know someone or something even tangentially-related to the abduction and fate of Nancy Guthrie would eventually be too much for someone to keep to themselves.

This is really odd, I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation for it. But just add it to a list of unusual things in this case

View attachment 647223
There's nothing unusual about the early tweet from the Pima County Sheriff's Office, IMO. The X user named Olivia misinterpreted it because she either didn't read beyond the heading or misinterpreted what PCSO posted.

The PCSO statement was NG was last seen "on the evening of January 31 at her residence in the area of East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue." They didn't state NG lives on or was last seen on East Skyline Dr. The sheriff's office deliberately and responsibly omitted NG's exact address. They're notifying the public that she is missing and providing the area where residents are most likely to have relevant information or footage. The time in the heading is when the period they'd like relevant information from begins.

Misreading by people on social media is how misinformation spreads. When LE knocks down the misinformation, social media users then allege LE is incompetent, walking back, or correcting its misstatements. This instance is one example of a straightforward, accurate statement from PCSO being misconstrued because a user didn't read the statement fully or misinterpreted it. IMO.

Much of the misinformation blamed on LE could be avoided if social media participants read statements fully or had better reading comprehension, IMO. So much of public discussion is driven by headlines, which are written to grab attention, and not content.

I appreciate your link to the source @ab01. :) Jennifer Coffindaffer's expertise appears to lend legitimacy to X user Olivia's retweet. But JC does not question the location or time in the heading or content. The image reinforces how simple misreading or not reading fully fuels speculation that is not warranted. MOO.

Respectfully, I disagree. The family has spoken when there was a calculated decision by the family and LE that it'd help the investigation. We are eager for insight, but the family doesn't need to perform in public for our entertainment. They owe nothing more to the public than cooperation with LE.

The family released video clips early on to reach the kidnapper, the ransom note writer, and their mother and to plead for help from the public. The clips accomplished LE and the family's goals. But at tremendous cost to family members. Every twitch or tear, or lack of it, was dissected as implicating or exculpating family members. Their words themselves were parsed for possible hidden meanings.

The family statements came at tremendous costs to family members. AG, who is not a celebrity like her sister or hardened military like her brother, who is coping with a horrific nightmare, and who is parenting a young child, the subject of intense speculation that she is a murderer or enabling a spouse who is. The family was harassed night and day to the point they were forced to leave the comfort of their own home at a time when they needed that familiar refuge

If appropriate, I am certain the family will speak out again. Not because we'd appreciate insights into family dynamics or to attest to their agony but because LE or the family believe conveying a tailored message publicly at that time will be helpful to the investigation.

Posting with respect to everyone here. MOO.
Totally agree. Your response was a masterpiece of restraint. The perverse pleasure or ghoulish delight or misplaced expectations by those who want to see or experience their agony or raw emotions is concerning and suggests Roman spectacle and dark entertainment. These are personal decisions, as is paying ransom, and the choices made by the siblings, to me, are beyond our judgment in this forum and frankly in life more generally. This are more than my opinions. They are my deep convictions even as I note that this is most certainly not a course in ethics. Anyway, thank you for the post.

A door mat, very important as perp stood on that mat, foliage, perp handled this, could have saliva on from bite torch, camera missed so collected later, where is the fingerprint powder on the doors, on the white bracket which was also not collected till days later, I think it was an incredibly poor job, who knows what was or wasn't done inside

Re: Find Criminals vs find NG. I understand the two sides of the case,
catching the criminal to keep society safe, vs finding a missing loved one.
After 3 weeks, I think LE is doing everything they can to conduct both parts of the case.

In this case, list below, what LE is likely persuing:

1. those who abducted NG, the real suspects that need to be identified, right away for public safety( NG’s abduction likely was targeted, so no real public threat), bad for LE that the person/ people are still out there, free in society. At this time, the criminals who abducted NG must be found above all. JMO

2. Looking for NG, at this point, I’m very sorry, very likely NG has passed. Still she needs to be brought home. I believe in the beginning, they were urgently looking for an alive NG, this search continues, but not sure of her condition RN. Finding her could help catch the criminal ( DNA, other clues). So, IMO, there is still a huge search for NG , even if she has passed.

3. The ransom people( opportunists, IMO), try to catch, separate crime, likely not involved, won’t help to find abductors or NG. JMO

I think in child or elder missing persons, they say the first 48 hours are the most important, so maybe first priority in the very beginning was to find NG. After a short time, especially for children, it’s unlikely to find them alive, but LE of course, continues to search. I would think an adult could live longer, but we are not sure if NG was kept safe, at all…😢

Just a few thoughts.

JMO
Totally agree that LE is doing everything they can to both find NG and apprehend the criminal(s) responsible. :)

I have already said imo they should have collected the doormat especially since they didn't know for sure that they would be able to recover the door nest cam video.

I have wondered why they didn't but figure maybe they had a reason. Doormats can contain a chaotic amount of DNA with many DNA mixtures upon DNA mixtures from so many different shoes.
