We lived in Tucson from 1981 to 1991. During that time, the city had a huge homeless population. There were spots throughout the city where people willing to work would gather to wait for a "boss" to pick them up and drive them to a job for the day. From what I understand, no records were kept, and they were paid in cash at the end of the day. This scenario complicates everything.
That occurs here to this day. Men grouped together at the corner gas station looking for day work. They’re paid as day laborers usually in cash.

That "Swiss Gear" backpack was actually found in a homeless encampment. They sleep in the culverts and that's where the volunteers found it.

This is the guest who said that because the perp had a bag from Walmart the expensive car couldn’t be his and he doubted that he had a real cell phone. This guy is so completely out of touch. I’m sure perps buy their gear from boutiques and only poor people shop at Walmart, one of the biggest chains in the entire county. 🙄 I quit watching this podcast because of him.
So silly imo. If I wanted to buy supplies for an illegal activity, I would go to the highest volume, quickest in and out place I could find. I am absolutely not going to a fancy tactical shop or even a small independent one where part of the sales job is conversing with me, getting to know what I really need, and spending several minutes looking at my face and hearing my voice one on one.

The attorney kept using the term "arrested" when he should have used "detained", only correcting it later in the interview. As far as I know, there were no arrests made as a result of the two raids, just people detained and released. However, per the Pima County Inmate Search, the individual you reference above was arrested on 2/14 and is still being held in the jail without bond. Interesting, but no confirmed connection to this case.
Are you referring to KD? she’s being held without bail for failure to show up to court hearings for other unrelated previous cases. which wold be standard procedure imo. And she was already in custody prior to LD’s detainment. According to this LD had been released and he doesn’t show up in PCSO inmate search.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> I hadn't paid much attention to his history, however, what stood out for me was his grounding of the only pilot of the Pima county search plane on the day NG disappeared.

"Fox News Digital also obtained a statement indicating that the pilot of the county’s high-tech search aircraft had been disciplined following a dispute with Nanos and reassigned to street patrol, according to local law enforcement sources. As a result, the aircraft’s takeoff was delayed for several hours after Guthrie was reported missing around midday Sunday, the sources said

This action alone makes me angry that he used a personal grudge against a qualified pilot, and the only pilot that was able to fly the search aircraft.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>Maybe I'm missing something here about the FBI taking over. My understanding is the FBI doesn't take over kidnapping cases unless there is interstate travel or the missing is a person of "tender years" (12 or younger) and I think there might be one other instance that doesn't apply to NG (I want to say a gov't official but I may be wrong on that). For all other cases assistance is offered from their various entities like their Lab. Has that protocol changed?

The fact she was arrested a day before is not an accident.
Edit: I'm not implying she was arrested as a poi. I know she had outstanding legal issues. JMO

Ah thank you for this. I missed that, and like you, I do feel it would have been more beneficial than not to have a wider search area away from the immediate vicinity of house. I have to keep reminding myself that we don't know everything that LE do know right now.

My question is - why? All of a sudden? After three weeks? What triggered the memo?

I highly doubt the federal government would take over but there are other things that qualify as well.
  • The kidnapper uses interstate communication tools such as phones, email, or the internet to facilitate or coordinate the crime.

What are you implying?

Not implying but I think they questioned her after arresting her and used it as a leverage to try to gain information.

Yes, I am referring to KD, as the post I was replying to alluded to some connection between her and NG. This has never been substantiated AFAIK. The raid involving LD was on the evening of 2/13 and KD was booked on 2/14, unknown when she was actually taken into custody. As I said, interesting, but no connection has been has been confirmed.

Ah thank you! I tried to refresh my memory on their website but couldn't find a complete answer!

EDIT: "their" refers to the FBI

I keep thinking about the photo someone posted of the perps glove that possibly depicted a ring. I think it was the persons right hand but I could be mistaken.

Anyway, married people wear wedding ring on the left hand. So what type of ring would a man wear on his right hand? A collegiate ring? Some type of ring to symbolize a relationship? A promise ring? An antique family ring?

Just random thinking here.
My guess is college ring or signet ring. Signet rings seem to have fallen out of fashion but perhaps it’s a family heirloom of sorts. Jmo

The removal of her from the house is so difficult to figure out.

Could also be if she was injured or died in the home, from shock or a struggle, they might have hoped they would buy time by her not talking, or being viewed as having wandered off.

Unless they intended from the beginning to kidnap for ransom, but then couldn't provide proof of life.
Right? Why remove NG’s body from the home?
In almost all crimes where a perpetrator wants the victim dead, so they can’t talk, or because of a resentment, they don’t take the body! Why take the body this time?
Like you mentioned, maybe started as a kidnapping? She passed quickly, so no sign of life.

I still thinks it’s something simple, like she saw something in a worker’s car, Drugs for instance. The person got paranoid she may mention to cops, needed to be silenced. He got a friend to help, get rid of her ( so sorry, not nice wording)…. They still could have left the body.

Same if it was a worker that had a big resentment, a job didn’t turn out well, NG had him do over, this made him mad, lost money. Smoldering resentment, he got so mad, he finally decided to take it out on NG….He still could have left the body.

I agree, I’m having a hard time figuring out, why take NG’s body? Only the kidnapping reason makes sense for taking NG, but only if they sent a ransom note immediately, with proof of life. Since the first note was after 2 days, plus, No sign of life, the kidnapping idea kind of fizzled out quickly, IMO.

Hi contemplated whether the mouth was real, including the facial hair. To me his head is misshapen and I think that's also the mask.
I looked at the mouth carefully. I can’t rule out a drawn in mustache or even smeared lipstick making it look mustache like in appearance. Jmo

Yeah, Sheriff's office tweeted basically asking people not to search.

I don't know if I agree... I don't think they should be searching directly at Nancy's or on the private property of her neighbors' (or private property in general.) But I could see it being helpful if they could search some of the nearby desert, as long as they can do so safely and carefully. It is very easy to miss things in the desert, and more eyes could be useful. Sadly I wouldn't be surprised if the perp dumped her in the surrounding desert somewhere.
This is my thinking as well. NG's abductor has likely dumped her body somewhere in that vast desert. Sadly, it may be a long time before someone stumbles upon her remains, if ever.

I wish we had relatively current video of LD's general build and gait. Those would be the types of instant qualifiers (or disqualifiers) that pretty much only LE would be privy to at the moment.

JMO.
