But wouldn't there be a statement released (hypothetical example, "stop killing in Gaza").

Political terrorism usually comes with a message.
No, because my personal pet theory is that it was never a kidnap for ransom - it was an attack because of NG's political posts online. This would also explain why the video footage seems to show him bumbling and ill equipped to handle basic tasks efficiently (like taking out the doorbell camera).

Man, this sheriff really annoys me. How does he know that it did not come from an FBI source working on the case back at Quantico or something? How does he know if a case agent in the FBI is talking to ABC news? All he can say is that this was not an official press release/statement from his department or the FBI.
That is exactly what he is saying. The information was not released officially by his office or by the FBI.

Or, maybe in the one without the backpack, that was their entire outfit, but in the one where they have the backpack, they came with a layer of clothing underneath to change into on the run.

I hate when I argue with myself :D
Or maybe the backpack itself (it looks a little hefty to me) changes his posture somewhat and changes the fit of the jacket? IMO

apparently if NG (or any family?) got a phone alert about the first visit, they did not notice? did nothing?
She had no sub. If she missed a live push alert on her phone, she wouldn't be able to play it back later when she noticed it?

Not everyone checks/notices every single alert, or she could have missed it and could not play back the footage w/o the cloud sub.
Probably got used to ignoring alerts as she got the cameras for primarily viewing wildlife. The alerts are only as good as the user's protocol. Most sleep right through "person detected" pushes at night.

So, there would be a vehicle somewhere nearby of some sort to take her, or she was taken to somewhere near her home within walking distance?

It's such a weird thing. He's there previously, so he should know about the camera. But when he returns he doesn't have a plan for it.
Which makes me think it could be two different people that dressed the same.

Maybe private search groups are bettter searching public lands, unless they have permission ? JMO
Some of those groups are for real and. some not. They are planning on searching in the area and I think Sheriff nanos will stop that.

This takes me back to my original theory. This is likely a neighbor's teenage son. NG's body is probably not that far from her house.
Agreed that Nancy will be located very close to her house. JMO.

This thread moves way too fast for me to keep up with. Continuing to pray for Nancy's family. I think the Cajun navy coming in is a wonderful resource! In my opinion, at this point, outside resources are needed

We are seeing LE actively distance themselves from the two separate days theory.

Why would LE say "this didn't come from us" instead of simply confirming the photos were from two separate days?

I think this is more about reaffirming professionalism to maintain the image for the sheriffs department. Like our department doesn't "leak" information. When we release official info, you will hear it straight from us- kinda deal.

Any news station can claim a "inside source". And while this theory of two different nights might be true- he wants to maintain the practice that any given theory a news station might publish, doesn't necessarily come from him.

JMO

What if the perp(s) knew he would be recorded on both occasions and thought the video footage could be used as an alibi....

"NEW TONIGHT: Sheriff Nanos tells Fox News this evening that the information and reporting out there that says the original Guthrie Nest camera video depicts the same person on a different day did not come from him or the FBI.

"The info that it occurred on a different day did not come from the FBI or PCSD," Nanos tells Fox.

As we know, sources from inside either agency may be sharing different information with the media. Above is what the Sheriff officially says on the matter and notably this time he mentions or speaks on behalf the FBI too."
At this point, I trust what Brian Entin says on this matter more than the sheriff. I think we're all tired of the whiplash JMO.

Free accounts store up to 3 hours of event footage on the server but if she used a feature like Do Not Disturb on her Apple devices then there would have been no audible notification in the moment and it could have easily gotten lost among numerous other mundane notifications the next morning. If the cameras was triggering on animals and cars then that could have further hidden the relevant alerts.

I have a question for the sleuthers. Let’s just pretend for a moment that there is NO ransom ( faux or real)

If we look at this from the angle that there is nothing else known other than NG last seen approximate timeline, potential POIs raids , recovered Nest doorbell video, and the immediate family being publicly cleared …. What do you see, believe, or feel? Take away motive… what’s the intent?
I see some one who gets dressed up in that outfit and tries to find either something in yards to steal-tools? bikes? or maybe things left in an unlocked vehicle like electronics, cameras or cash? He seems not to have the gun in the earlier video. (So was he trying something new going into an occupied house? ... carrying a weapon) I see a lot of reports of people wandering at night just taking unsecured things- no confrontation, a sort of low stress crime.
