It's very scary, I wonder what he did the first time, was he just spying or did he change his mind. Maybe he was checking doors, windows, cameras, lights. It really seems like it's going to be a local person.

apparently if NG (or any family?) got a phone alert about the first visit, they did not notice? did nothing?

He may have already been at the house when NG arrived, or he may have been scouting out the house before she arrived. He may also have gotten into the house any time after NG had returned, any time before midnight. After that it’s another day..and hence the video had been recorded on another day.

Can anybody explain the nest camera 3 hour overwrite process? I'm struggling to understand this nest issue. It sounds like 1) nest always stores your data, subscription or not, and 2) they have a serious privacy issue. Basically, if this another day what exactly is there policy? Very confusing and different from Ring.

I have also read an article that explained they could scrape layers and eventually find snippets of remnant footage...I mean, it's pretty amazing what info those in deep tech can find.

Me personally, have no qualms about privacy issues... I ain't doing anything to be concerned about and if it can potentially be used to crack serious crime...film away!

But the suspect does strike me as left handed or mixed handed. It looked like the door handle was tried with the left hand as the camera was being, well, whatever that was with the right hand (who covers a camera with an open fist?). Then the left foot forward and the plant was grabbed with the left hand and the left hand was used to try and make the plant cover the camera. That says left hand or mixed hand. I am mixed hand, so I do some things right handed and some left handed.

As more time goes on, the more I return to my original theory - failed kidnap for ransom.

This person targeted NG, knowing SG was her daughter and could extort the family for millions. But NG had a medical event or this person was too rough with her and she passed away. Then they panicked and tried to stick to the plan, but couldn’t provide proof of life. JMO

The fact there have been no further arrests related to the ransom notes is important IMO. Whoever sent them clearly spent an extensive amount of time and effort making themselves untraceable.

Unfortunately, with all the information regarding ancestral DNA and the extreme media coverage, I’m concerned this person may have taken their own life or left the country. JMO

I am thinking along the same lines and now that we know that the picture of a man w similar build and mask was there on a different day, it seems like he may have been casing her home. Has LE told us when the image without backpack was caught on her porch cam?

I could see this not so bright "lucky" stalker, kidnapper .. fill in the right description... disposing of the first nights gloves on his walk back to his hidden car thinking that they were safe to get rid of since he didn't do anything that first night.

I got the impression NG wasn’t really paying attention to the door cams. She had let the subscription lapse ( which would have saved videos), and likely wasn’t even looking at alerts, live shots. I don’t think we heard how long her subscription had lapsed. Maybe she put in cameras with the first “ free” month( of revording), then never paid subscription after that, was not aware cameras were not working as they could. For instance, the ability to immediately and easily pull up videos.

IMO - Based off of this print you marked, and the fact that law enforcement has said the backpack and holster were from Walmart, I feel like this shoe from Walmart resembles the rectangular print? Total IMOO speculation...The square blood print impressions could also have been from Nancy's shoe leaving the house...Suspect photos in media.
