I know it's a long thread but we've discussed in great detail about the holster. It is a "universal" revolver type poly holster that is profiled for a longer revolver 6.5" barrel. (yes he used a revolver holster to loosely hold his smaller frame semi auto and note he did not even have the safety strap snapped over the top so his semi looked like it would fall out if he had to run)

Some suspect a Walmart brand (due to the backpack being a Walmart exclusive item) but there are other clones of this very generic cheapo holster sold for many years (see them at gun shop $5 bins), including one current one sold at MidwayUSA.
The gun the perp had was likely to fall out if they bent over, right? Do people usually hang those holsters on the front of their bodies? It’s so bizarre.

I really, really hope this isn't going Cold Case. Having said that, I think it is. Which makes it more likely that this WAS a hackneyed robbery where a perp panicked and killled/disposed of her. I really did not think this was the case but the longer it goes on the more I gravitate to this side.

Earlier, SillyBilly made (at my request) a statement that said we could not discuss LD as a possible suspect. However, I made that decision before I heard the Sheriff's statement. That interview is linked at the bottom of this post.
The Sheriff did not clear LD. He said they are still processing evidence and pointedly added, “What if Nancy’s DNA is found…,” making it clear the investigation remains open.

PLEASE USE HIS INITIALS. Since LE did not come out and say he was cleared, yes, LD can be discussed, but do not DOX him or post addresses and names of relatives.

PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE. INITIALS ONLY

I'm bringing this forward, as I missed it on Wednesday, and others might have, too.
Thank you @MrsEmmaPeel (I think?) who let me know that LD is up for discussion :)
And thanks, Tricia!
IMO.
Edited to correct user name.

Ugh more bad news in the case 😔

I suppose hold onto dear life to that sample and test again when technology no doubt advances in the future. I hope the case is long solved before then. IMO

This is never going to be cold. It's not a tv show, and all solved in a few weeks or month so far really. LOTS being investigated via FBI labs etc. Let's hope much though that someone gives it up for the million dollars, even 'up to'. I kind of think someone might now.

Re DNA, Great idea!

I don’t think it’s going cold at all, the investigation continues

I know, that's why i googled and got this back:
The FBI Laboratory at Quantico uses a range of genetic markers and technologies for forensic analysis, including Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), but has historically relied primarily on Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) as its standard practice. SNPs are mainly used as an adjunct technology for specific, challenging cases.

I think the FBI lab is one of the best labs out there and i cannot imagine it doesn't deal with the most complex cases. JMO

Another link on the usage of SNP, STR, and such at quantico i found.

The FBI helps other countries by providing a wide range of forensic services, often at no cost. This assistance is coordinated through the FBI's International Operations Division and its network of Legal Attaché (Legat) offices located in U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. The lab provides expertise in areas such as DNA analysis, fingerprint analysis, firearms, and explosives analysis to support international investigations. My uncle, a retired special agent, often travelled to other countries to assist in the investigation of crimes. Although he rarely spoke of his work, the one that haunted him for years was the abduction of Adam Walsh. He and 2 other agents were the ones called the day when remains were found in Indian River County, Fl. It took 27 years to know who murdered that child. We tend to forget what LE sees and how brutal it can be for them. PTSD is real in LE.

I would say that OWB (outside the waistband) holder position, Some times referred to as an appendix carry is somewhat unusual. 3-5 o'clock positioning would be much more common imo.

Much respect for your uncle's service, and that of others in LE having to deal with these often emotional and graphic cases 🙏🏻

Yes notice he did not even have the safety strap that keeps the intended revolver snapped over the gun (see pic attached)

That mismatched holster is for a large frame revolver and he has a small frame semi auto, loosely tucked in. It would fumble out if he had to turn quickly or run.

People tuck in the front in concealed carry, it is called appendix carry (see second pic attached) What he was doing was an awkward open carry version of that and it was hanging low off his belt because this cheap holster has a belt loop and not a clip like others.

I believe the intent was for intimation/coercion. He hid have it oriented for a right hand draw but would be cumbersome handling a firearm and inserting a finger into the trigger guard with those gloves he was wearing. It may have not even been a real firearm but a replica/air soft just for intimidation. No way of telling.

I feel a change is SG. She is smart and has unlimited resources. If the Sheiffs office is not doing their job She is going to work around them.

I wish we knew how confident they were that it's actually a partial DNA from the perp. Where in the home and the significance of what it was recovered from etc.

More speculation. Let’s say that the perp is a detailed, methodical planner who thought through this at length and prepared well, doing everything he could to mitigate risk. (Long post in support of this idea here.)

If the video footage shows the perp in a hyper-realistic face mask underneath the ski mask, perhaps his backpack contained a second face mask of the same quality, intended for NG to wear. That and a set of clothes for her.

Any later witnesses would have seen a car with two or more occupants, none of whom looked or dressed like NG. It would have allowed a longer drive with lower risk, even in well-lit areas with cameras. He had enough time in the house to sort that out. And a gun.

Yes I don't see matches from people living in France.
Banned totally, or banned in the courts? Mostly not allowed to be used in the US either.

I just can't reason why it would be necessary to acquire a Hyper-realistic mask and then to cover it with a ski mask.

A Hyper-realistic mask would be all that was needed for a successful disguise.

I think its far more likely and reasonable that the ski mask was the disguise JMO

Agreed.

Also, it would probably be a shorter list of the people who bought hyper realistic masks, and thus easier to be identified.

In this thread are articles and pictures of the searches that started the day they found out NG was missing and have been posted repeatedly.

The neighbor's quote tells of drones up the first day.

There are pictures of a helicopter with a guy hanging out searching.

Is there some link that says they didn’t search and the pictures, videos and statements in msm on this thread describing searches are what; not true?

For example:

Sheriff’s officials said 100 personnel are working to find and bring Nancy Guthrie back home.

Law enforcement, including U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, with K-9s, were seen outside the Catalina Hills house just after 4 p.m.…

Searchers used drones and search dogs and were supported by volunteers, U.S. Border Patrol and the homicide team, according to the sheriff.

Family of missing Nancy Guthrie releases video statement as search intensifies

all imo
Nanos' office allegedly failed to deploy its fixed-wing Cessna aircraft, known as Survey 1, during the initial phase after Nancy was reported missing. This is the most important search NOT done.
