The backpack concerns me. Why would anyone just toss one out a door or window?
The lastest backpack found was said by LE to be
the wrong model,
out in elements too long,
and has an ID card belonging to a minor.

After rewatching the porch footage, I don't believe he is moving around slow because he has mobility issues or is being aloof.
If you watch him walking up the walkway you see his heel strikes the ground first, then he slowly rolls his weight towards the ball of the foot. IMO, This is a deliberately slow motion to minimize noise. Even when he steps down to grab the lantana he slowly steps off slowly. This is the kinda of walking you do in the middle of the night when you're trying not to make the floorboards creak.

The fact that they found a backpack within 2 miles of the house says alot. I dont think this backpack is involved but shows the area had not been searched.

It’s not the responsibility of LE to pick up trash/litter that is unfortunately all over. IMO

Oh for goodness sake..why isn't this common sense, but also why wasn't it fenced off as a crime scene in the first place?!
I think it was. Then it was released after 22 hours or something then cordoned off again for a bit. Not sure where all this bungling criticism is coming from. Sheriff isnt the greatest orator but this case gets as much FBI as it is entitled to. Locals have the upper hand. It may be high profile as in media but it's no more or less important than a missing child, a missing pregnant mom or a missing politician. Life should be equally important and not sure what everyone thinks should have been the added perks here or why? No one gets perfection. Le and all of us are flawed. I'm not allowing the petty politics of Tuscon lambaste the sheriff. and alter my thinking. JMO

And then there's the lantana. It was a totally unnecessary action. I struggle to believe someone would so quickly decide upon doing what he did, especially not someone so fastidious with skin protection. Did Nancy keep a spare key under there or something? Was that the taunt? I wish we knew how the suspect entered the home.

Indeed. Almost like the camera cued that moment in the routine. The spotlight is now on, he could've suddenly remembered.

My takeaways from the video -
She said her mom was taken from her bed. Whether this was just figuratively speaking or what actually happened, it seems this is what the Guthrie family believe happened. Could this dispel the thought that she was maybe up and walking around when it occurred, or went to her door?

And it seems as if the family is as lost as we are about whether she is alive or not. I know there has been some speculation about why the family hasn’t been pleading or searching, with the thought that maybe they had concrete evidence she was already deceased. But this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Kind of a discourging video :(

It was discouraging. I hope whoever knows where NG is will make that phone call to the Guthrie family. It's such a heartbreaking situation.

I agree except we are a society that wants to see a smoking gun, DNA, and a strong motive. Suppose someone turns the perp in and is called as a witness at a trial. What's the first thing the defense attorney is going to ask him? How much reward money do you stand to collect for turning him in? Juries want blood, fibers, video of him in Walmart buying the backpack, perfect GPS and internet info that many don't even understand, etc. People want things TIGHT, not hanging . At least that's what I want to see before I convict someone. Bashing LE now may really prevent justice later and that's also too bad, JMO.

For sure. They may have some DNA and electronic evidence though, but just none of it pointing to a motive or clear narrative. For example, DNA that they had already obtained from a now freshly accused known associate could unravel an alibi or an otherwise benign explanation for it being in a suspicious place the home.

If someone can give them a mere piece evidence towards motive or a clear storyline that they can then begin piecing together, then a perpetrator can begin to more narrowly fit the crime (and timeline). Without a motive or clear narrative, however, those things are qualifiers but not yet convincing. Or more apt, convicting.

Somewhere upthread it was said that they found a minor's ID in the backpack, so it sounds to me like somebody nicked a kid's school bag, rifled through for any valuables and then tossed the rest

Here's the source video:
He's bottom heavy in the butt. That isn't an appendix carry. No one's appendix is in their genital region. That's an appendage carry! This perp/stalker never used or carried a gun before, imo. He wanted that gun and holster to be seen dangling there. Why? jmo

I wonder what this guy thought of himself as he looked in the mirror dressed like this, about to kidnap an elderly woman...

These door bell cameras also have audio. Every time I watch the porch video, I wonder what LE heard. As important and potentially even more ominous, I wonder what they saw and heard on the other cameras.

The more I read the more I understand how fearful one can become whether in her neighborhood or across the country like I am.
I just saw an investigator saying when there is an intended sexual assault, age does NOT matter. That threw me as I’m not far from her age. I always wondered why anyone would assault an old woman. The investigator said the one making the assault won’t care. I guess they are sociopaths or psychopaths and that’s frightening!
I would guess that these stranger to stranger sexual assaults are often about the perpetrator’s desire for power and control. I think about BTK and some of his older victims. The older women’s vulnerabilities make them attractive as potential victims to such sick minds.

The placement of the holster is most curious. My gut says he had no idea where it went because he doesn’t have experience with firearms. Clueless. Sometimes people buy stuff they don’t know how to use. Or, he wanted to confuse by placing the holster in front of his crotch, along with buying generic clothing, backpack, gloves, etc. that all probably went into a trash bag thrown into a dumpster or buried somewhere. IMO

I think he merrily thought he was going to hit the jackpot by kidnapping NG and extorting Savannah for ransom.

If it bothered his conscience, he wouldn’t have come. Twice, in fact.

IMO though, I think this door guy was the brawn and someone else was the brains, so maybe he’d only get a share.
