I'm sorry i like Cece Moore alot but if she said that she might be mistaken.
As far as i read the FBI lab does definitely possess the ability to work with SNP.
It would be very strange if they didn't, if you think about it.
SNP is usually used where it contains very small parts of a DNA sample as i understand.
Quantico is one of the most highly regarded labs in the world, isn't it?
Then why wouldn't they have this ability?

“I spoke to CeCe Moore from Parabon Nanolabs about this possibility yesterday. She’s a leading genealogist. The same sample COULD potentially still be useful for IGG — or even a direct comparison if Arizona has its own criminal DNA database or if a suspect is identified by other means.

Holster thoughts, moo.

1) if he already had a quality, appropriately-scaled holster, he might not have wanted to use it because it would be more recognizable and potentially give more information about what kind of gun was fitting it so well. Hence possibly getting the cheapest, most anonymous, incorrectly-sized one to use instead.

2) imo that would drive someone crazy though if they were used to the abovementioned appropriately sized, well-fitted situation.

3) so maybe he is not a usual carrier and doesn't really know better or have much previous experience. Although imo if you have not lived under a rock, you can look at that situation and know it looks weird even compared to movies, tv shows, etc.

Quantico actually does do extractions but not for Genealogy as i understand.
That particular discussion was about the usage of SNP technology at Quantico and they have the ability to do so they do not however do the particular extraction for IGG. This was explained really well to me earlier by @BigCityAccountant

I forgot to add to my post:

In addition to there not being a shadow in what has become the alleged earlier date photo, the sky is also much darker.

In the backpack version of the photo you can make out a lot more of the trees/bushes in the background, suggesting bright moonlight on the night of the kidnapping and almost pitch black in the other (earlier) photo. All of this led me to think the photo of the suspect without the backpack or holster must have been taken on a different night.

Looking at moon phases, Jan 18 was a new moon, which would fit the pitch black scene. On the night of Jan 31 it was nearly a full moon, which also fits the well illuminated background in the backpack/holster images and videos.

Jan 10/11 is a time period often mentioned for the earlier photo, and interestingly enough according to weather records it was quite cold (30's in some places) and also damp and very windy in the area. In looking at the non-backpack photo some have wondered if the suspect is wearing camo, but it could be damp or wet spots on the jacket. That would possibly fit with the weather conditions at that time (Jan 10/11).

I really, really hope this isn't going Cold Case. Having said that, I think it is. Which makes it more likely that this WAS a hackneyed robbery where a perp panicked and killled/disposed of her. I really did not think this was the case but the longer it goes on the more I gravitate to this side.

I see it oppositely. I think this case has never been hotter. They have $1M reward, video, DNA (even if they say unviable now, they first said it was a combo of DNA) the notes, the help of the FBI and any other federal agency (DEA, ATF, CIA, etc.) that might be helpful. Google/Meta have been said to offer help. LE is not required to tell the public, media included, of every single development,

I believe it is a matter of time before we see an arrest, but my biggest hope and prayer is that Nancy will be reunited with her family whether she is still alive or not. The Guthrie family needs their Mother home.

The handling of the crime scene has been shameful

It was crime scene taped off during the investigation.

It was turned over to the family about February 3rd.

It is the family's decision how to deal with NG's home and none of our business when they fence.

To say the family was shameful in how they dealt with the property after it was turned over to them is unnecessary, imo.

They have not been going in the home from what I can see only had LE hand a few small things to their representative.

Fencing off represents the stage of their dealing with the acceptance that this is not going to be a quick rescue and matters with the home settled after.

My heart goes out out to them that they have had to fence off NG's home, the finality of that, the sight of that lovely home of their dear Mother fenced off.

SG is brilliant and has means and background in law and crime but she and the rest if the family are suffering and deserve our grace as respectful onlookers.

Law enforcement changing their position on offering a reward is not a positive sign for the state of the investigation.

The amount of tips has not been an issue, but the quality is obviously lacking.

The danger here is that this encourages more of the same, but obviously they believe the upside outweighs that risk.

This never had anything to do with the family’s willingness to pay. It’s strategy, plain and simple.
