This is the interview by BE of Carlos' attorney. One thing I found interesting is that when BE is trying to get at why LE might have targeted Carlos, the attorney says more than once that he's not sure if Carlos has ever even been on that street, or similar verbiage. That's sort of stunning to me. Wouldn't you find out definitively if he's ever had any deliveries on that street or otherwise been there? Surely, you could at least say "he's never been on the street, or at least hasn't had any deliveries there in the last few months. He can't ever recollect having been there in his life." Etc.

(Apparently, LE didn't tell Carlos why he was targeted and the affidavit which served as the basis for the search warrant is sealed.)

I do wonder if the accuracy of those phone nets varies a bit with service load- like maybe this guy was a few streets over once, but I do not know enough to say- we know that Rex Heuerman was tracked to a specific block but NG's neighborhood is sparse.

Sounds like the crowd would have lynched him if they could or attempted to destroy his property. People are crazy. They really thought because he stole a calculator/watch 25 years ago, he abducted an 84 yr old woman?
Yes it does sound that way. Mobs have been around as long as people have lived in groups together. They are truly frightening and usually wrong. All that fear or rage being unleashed. And there always seems to be a lead idiot who throws a match onto the gasoline of whatever has people stirred up. It's almost like being part of a mob allows people to excuse themselves for doing things they would never do as an individual. MOO

Having looked at multiple videos of the activities, black SUVs, suited people, some people wearing baseball caps etc. at Nancy Guthrie’s home today 2/25/26, IMHO this is what happened:

1. The bad news is that the sheriff has exhausted his department’s investigative ability, and they have now released the crime scene
2. The new $1,000,000 rewards have generated new interests, including perhaps large investigative firms. Savannah Guthrie has the means to hire these types of investigative teams
3. The good news is that the new people who came today are (90% sure) Intelligence and Investigation Agents, Executive Protection Agents, and undercover FBI
4. Intelligence and Investigation Agents (IIA) are of the type Private Investigators such as in a marital misconduct or inheritance dispute, but they are employed by large firms with legal, financial, scientific etc. capabilities
5. Usually, IIA travel with Executive Protection Agents (EPA). EPA are not to be confused with bodyguard (special police officer level). Besides protection, EPA do pre-planning of deployment, travel management, crime scene management, risk mitigations, and investigation
6. While local law enforcement may have released the crime scene, usually IIA and undercover FBI agents collaborate. IIA are hired after local law enforcement finished their job but the FBI may continue investigating beyond routine. Hence, they collaborate with private companies. It would not be surprising if some FBI agents not wearing badges were present today
7. I do not know if I may post their website but you may google ASIG American Special Investigative Group as an example of such private firms. ASIG has IIA, EPA, and even specialized professionals called "Missing Person Investigators."
That very interesting. I don't know much about that kind of service. What would people like that do in an empty home that was a crime scene? Thx MOO

That is really interesting - thanks for sharing

One crazy thing is that many people do not immediately open a door for a package delivery so ...and these folks pepper spray the dog- you have to wonder what they do if they find a human in the residence. : (

Jumping in.....I think that it's an amateurish job that went bad. Because of the Guthrie name other non-related to the crime people jumped in trying to get money thinking this is a lucrative opportunity. Its the "sophistication" (my emphasis) of Bitcoin versus contacting TMZ that has me thinking there are two unrelated groups at play. I have long felt that NG has passed (poor lady I pray it was swift as peaceful)....and pray for justice for Nancy and the family.

I am now thinking about those signature required deliveries, they are a great way to break in. Yikes!
In fairness, if a dog was attacking a delivery person pepper spray may be justified.

I see a possible 3-person kidnap for ransom.
  1. Porch guy (described as a stoner by one retired FBI profiler) was added only to remove NG so they (2 or 3 bad guys) could initiate the kidnap.
  2. A second accomplice had a key to the back door and was possibly assigned to help with the planning and prepping poor NG for removal.
  3. A third accomplice -- aka 'Ring Leader' - was responsible for the ransom notes and was a key player in devising the scheme with the understanding that he would get at least half whatever ransom money was forthcoming.
Note: Her unexpected and subsequent death, was never part of the plan. Otherwise, both – or all three - would face a capital murder charge.
I also see a 2-3 person team to kidnap for ransom.
Suspect #1 - The person who broke into the home from the rear or left side front patio door. He was responsible for overcoming Nancy Guthrie, getting her out of her house, and into a waiting getaway car. He may have been accompanied by Suspect #2. The original plan was to walk her out from the side or back with her mouth duck taped and her hands tied behind her back.
Suspect #2 - Porch guy and, if this was a 2 man team, also the getaway driver. If it was a 3 man team, he may have been stationed near the front as a lookout.. Porch guy realized he would have to disable the ring camera after Nancy Guthrie was injured, probably unconscious, and they knew they would have to carry her out the front door.
Suspect #3 - The getaway driver, parked in the area waiting for the call for a pickup. Did they use walkie talkies to avoid cell phones?

I don’t think they planned to harm Nancy Guthrie. This is taken from my post (#31,798 ) on 2/16:
If this was a planned kidnapping, the perpetrators may have planned to take her alive, bring her to a preplanned location, and begin ransom negotiations. They would not treat her badly and everything, (in their minds) would be quite civilized. This would explain the disguise he was wearing. She could not identify anyone who may be involved. They could collect their ransom and ride off into the sunset. Once she was injured, perhaps badly, the whole game changed.

The reason I had pause about the ransom note being legit at first is because they asked for so much money.
I figured the delay could be explained away by giving them adequate time to get a good distance away.

I mean why 4 million? Then 6 million?
That is a ridiculous amount.

Which is why I thought the motive could be money for weapons of war by a terrorist organization.
Which is outrageous but so was the amount of ransom demanded.

And it's not like they are going to flat out state, "Hey give us 4 million for w.o.w and we will give Nancy back."
I'm not sure. Kidnapping for ransom in AZ carries a penalty of 10-24 years even if they release the victim unharmed. Then if she died, add murder charges on top of that. Maybe they didn't originally plan to ask for so much but once she died and they knew murder charges would be added, they were hoping to get enough to disappear for good. MOO

Welp that tells you right there that an arrest is not coming anytime soon. Otherwise there would be no need for this release.

Once an arrest is made the media will move on and or atleast focuses their attention elsewhere. And Pima county would know that
The media stayed at this location because of the constant comings and goings of LE and the lack of a suspect to focus on. There were no family members living there to pounce upon as they came and went. The case drew huge public interest, but the home has just been a background prop. When you think of past cases that drew massive attention, the press camps set up at the homes of persons arrested, named suspects, or persons of interest. Think of the Gabby Pettito case, (Laundry home), or the Anthony home in the Kayley Anthony case to name a couple.
If there is an arrest made in this case, and I sincerely hope there will be one, the press conference will be held at the Sheriff’s office or some government building that can handle the crowd.

It’s mob mentality, confirmation bias, and tunnel vision. It’s people looking at things from an emotional perspective rather than a rational one. It’s existed since the beginning of time. Just look at how some people behaved during Covid. Family, Friends, and neighbors turning on and turning in each other because someone wasn’t wearing a mask outside during a walk. And the media was just drumming it up, death tally numbers streaming on the bottom of the screen for months. Working up everyone. A lot of that imo, is happening on this case as well. So so so many people are emotionally invested in this case, I’m one of them btw, so it makes it super easy for people to get caught up in a media web of rumor and accusations. I learned and saw it real time during AB reporting, which I never believed that one.
But then the CP and LD raids happened. Potential med air evacs, someone possibly committing suicide during LD raid, which was even reported by local KOLD news at one point ( since retracted.) I just KNEW that was it, ..They got em’ I was gonna wake up and Nancy was going to be found. WRONG! No, I was honestly ashamed of myself and felt so gross for feeding from the media trough. No, I just wait for legitimate confirmation now. Who the hell knows what’s even going on in this case anymore anyway? It’s almost like it’s being purposely obfuscated. MOO

When I really look at this particular image, the guy looks older, his physique and pants, shoes, etc. The pants look like khaki type work pants you would see on service workers, they dont appear to be jogging pants. Most young people dont wear pants like this at all. I cant even see a young person buying them as a disguise. This looks like a middle aged football coach outfit.

makes sense......I'm wondering if they knew how mobile she is/was? BC its one to two person job to carry her to a waiting vehicle

I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you. We all travel winding roads, and I remind myself that there are so many suffering much worse than I have.

They don't, and they're not. This is coming from law enforcement sources, and not law enforcement directly.
Most crimes scenes are turned back over within days, even in unsolved or unusual crimes. It's extremely unusual for LE to hold onto the scene for this length of time.

I don’t know how to interpret any of this other than a closure of sorts of an active investigation.

The hints have been there in msm with talks of scaling back.

talks of press needing to move on etc

I think there was even an msm article yesterday that said this case has gone cold.

The case will still be worked but on a much, much smaller scale.

I don’t believe they are close at all to an arrest
I don’t believe the case is going cold at all, not with all the interest, worldwide. SG’s continued pleas to get NG back. Still very active.

I think they are scaling back a lot, and well they should, 400 FBI was really too many. IMO. Kind of bad optics, unless the perp was caught right away. Other missing persons cases felt badly, not as much help.

I do believe the evidence they have found, and more being tested, will give some good leads.
Plus more leads in the tip line with people to look at. NG’s body will eventually be found by Cajon Navy, desert off-roaders, or searchers/ mountain hikers viewing cliff areas. ( sorry).

I believe the case will be solved.

All JMO

An obvious question is: how can the family be cleared if "the vehicle is still part of the investigation"?

Jmo
The vehicle’s informatics are a crucial part of the timeline.
