I wanted to share this again to show how these perps didn’t care if there were cameras either. Looks like one has been arrested but others not yet?

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of a suspect from a burglary investigation.

The PCSD said 27-year-old Catherine Williams had been wanted by the Burglary Unit since Sept. 13.

She was located and arrested at a Tucson residence on Thursday, Oct. 9. As of Friday night, she was not in custody.

Williams was identified through an extensive investigation and confirmed with the help of crime tips and surveillance footage shared by members of the public.
…..
The Burglary Unit continues to investigate and is working to identify additional suspects involved in the incident.
….
(Backstory)
It seemed to start with what looked like a delivery earlier this month that was unexpected.

About 45 minutes later, other cameras on the house record an SUV’s arrival.

A man got out and walked around back before meeting two men who appeared to have walked in from a nearby wash. They then broke glass in a door to enter the home.
Oh boy. The person in the hoodie...

Most people have their phones "on" while sleeping.
I have never turned mine "off" during the night while asleep.
Has anyone here done that? Ever?
Yes!

I'm not as savvy as many

Here is what I often do:
  • Leave it in the living room
  • Turn it off
  • Forget to charge it
Main reason, to have my phone next to my bed:
  • Alarm
I'm retired...

I wonder if any can put all these people, 'flurry of activity' together to form a reason. I'd say FBI 'boots on the ground' crew may make it their spot. Odd though, NG's home, but may want to stay on or very close to premises for the time needed. FBI taking over def would make things different looking on all levels than what we're used to seeing. I haven't seen if there is a 'crime scene cleanup' as he just said, but maybe there is. IMO

I could imagine criminal carrying her out of the door over his shoulder face down, feet first so he's in front of the blood and not going to step in it unless he backs up.
Yes, over the shoulder, one person carrying, head hanging over the back( sorry). Someone showed this version earlier in thread, “fireman carry”. Just as long as the person carrying is not stepping on most drops.
Another way is 2 people carrying, horizontally.

It is possible they are keeping AG's car in custody because the perpetrator placed a tracking device on it, or something like that. I would think that would be on the outside of the car and pretty discoverable so I wonder if they would keep it for something like that.

Oh boy. The person in the hoodie...

My take on that is a criminal's MO doesn't typically change so dramatically in just a few short months, if at all. These were daylight heists with fake Amazon uniforms and pepper spray. Not pitch black nights, ski masks, and violent kidnappings. I doubt anyone in that little clique of miscreants had the kind of advanced criminal mind (and psychopathology) to conceive of and execute what lantana man did.

One thing I have a hard time getting past is the apparent absence of any video of a vehicle driving to or from NG’s house that night. It’s not like we’re hearing that they exist but are too grainy, or hearing neighbors say “Yeah my camera picked up headlights moving but that’s it.” It’s just…nothing.

That community is actually pretty densely populated as far as affluent suburban developments go. The vegetation is thin sparse desert species like creosote bush, ocotillo, and cactus. To get in or out from NG’s house to a main artery, a vehicle would have to drive past a lot of houses. By now, everyone in the entire Foothills development with street-facing cameras has likely checked their footage and submitted what they had, if anything. Some people do set their cameras to 24/7 instead of just motion detection. No one picked up a vehicle’s headlights?

And we’re only looking at a timeframe of maybe two hours in the middle of the night when there wouldn’t be a lot of traffic noise from other cars on the road.

Even if the perp was somehow able to elude any cameras within the Catalina Foothills, there are the better lit arteries with businesses that surround it. The perp would have had to driven on E. Skyline, or N. Campbell, or E. River, or N. 1st for at least some amount of time. And then possibly to a freeway entrance with traffic cams.

So why hasn’t LE been able to release any stills or videos of a “vehicle of interest” taken within 2-3 miles of NG’s house with some grainy outline of a shape or a headlamp pattern a member of the public might recognize? Am I wrong in thinking they should have something, even if it has a 50% chance of being unrelated?

It's entirely possible that the suspect left their phone on at their residence to establish an alibi. Why would you bring a phone to a crime scene? MOO
Haha BK did

Personally, I feel like everyone sees these images through a different lens.
...and that's a good thing! It just takes one person to see it through a different lens, or different point of view to make a difference.

An awkward loner, a gamer, a blend-into-the-scenery type.

In mystery novels, the villain is the least likely suspect. Could this be the case here? MOO
I also read mystery novels and almost always figure out the suspect because in the novels, it is usually the least likely suspect.

While that's possible here, I'm guessing that the suspect will fit into one of the frameworks that people have suggested where:

+ the crime was planned and premeditated,
+ NG was targeted,
+ the perpetrator or perpetrators may have previous arrests and convictions,
+ the perpetrator knew NG or knew of NG -- possibly in NG's extended circle or is an acquaintance of somebody who works for NG,
+ we won't be surprised at the arrests (since we've considered every possible option :))
+ this crime may be connected with an obsesssion with SG or knowledge of SG's wealth
+ the perpetrator(s) was/were violent with NG

There may be a surprise twist here, though, in that it's possible that some of the crime scene was staged. The lantana guy may have deliberately been dressed as he was and acting the way he did as a distraction to other things. We just don't know.

I do believe LE and FBI will pull everything together and make an arrest.

Me neither.

Where would I put it??

It has a general home in my living room and is next to my computer.

I would probably lose it, if I took it all over the house..LOL

And sadly our landline was spackled over when our house was remodeled, so my main way to locate my phone is gone.

I literally wore it on a lanyard when I was on a cruise.

My daughter in law keeps in it in her jean pocket. I'm too old for that..LOL

I don't know how people keep it in their hands all the time.

I also have wondered this from the beginning. Why no video of a vehicle? I’m thinking that the perpetrator may have used an ATV or Side-by-Side and taken her through the desert, not on the streets.

I have an app on my phone that allows me to see my son's blood sugar number. I love that it wakes me in the middle of the night to alert me to a potentially dangerous low. However…. He’s a college kid, away from home, and is often snacking right when I go to sleep. Based on years and years of experience, I can tell when he’s managing his high number and when I don’t need to call him (he also will verify when he’s awake and on it). I also don’t want the phone to keep alerting me to his ice cream high. So… on occasional nights, I turn it to airplane mode. (I also know that he and 2 other people see the alerts, so I cut myself some slack on the nights when I really need sleep.)

So maybe Nancy got tired of the alerts, as has been mentioned before. JMO

LE and FBI likely have footage from the neighborhood and the main arteries. JMO

We could use that as a brainstorming exercise here - if they arrested someone tomorrow, who would be the least surprising perpetrator for you?

I’ll go first: a neighbor or a neighbor’s adult son who lives within walking distance and tends to keep to themselves.
yeah. and/or a friend or family member of a construction worker, physical therapist, or some other hired professional who had been in the house.

more generally, someone 2 degrees of separation from NG. the friend/neighbor/professional innocently mentions to someone that they'd been in a house with this old lady who lives by herself, maybe mentions rich and famous daughter or something valuable she has. maybe even observes that she's pretty vulnerable. the person who hears this smells an opportunity for... something? the something depends on your theory of the crime.

I'm certain she entered a car (under her own power or not). if she wasn't killed and dumped in the wilderness, the perp probably lives in a home with a garage or at least has access to one. I don't see someone removing a body or kidnapping victim from their car in their own carport or apartment parking lot.

I feel that he or they had to have known she was going to be there that evening. For them to attempt this and she wasn’t home would have wrecked their chances of doing it again and being successful, NG would have increased security and safety measures as she would be aware her home had been broken into (assuming the footage is of the initial break in)
Not knowing anything about NG’s routine, it’s hard to say if she was a regular as clockwork person, so if not the case, it would leave someone who had intelligence about her activity that evening, or someone was watching her that night.
It just seems odd that they knew she was there and if she wasn’t, they had possibly blown their chances of pulling this off.
Just some thoughts, hope it makes sense

Many people put their phones on "Do Not Disturb" at night, although I would not think people in their 80s or 90s would necessarily do so. JMO

Agree. I really wonder about the car, they definitely had one pulled up to driveway, blood drops stop right there. NG too heavy to carry far. IMO

On STS last night, Fil Waters thought maybe perps at first walked there, backpacks for burglary
(came from nearby), burglary gone bad, NG died, suddenly decided to take her to go, someone had to walk home (nearby), to get a car, might explain 40 min delay at the house. Just an idea.

Because they are local, IMO, they probably know how to avoid the cameras. Drove through neighborhood. You are right, eventually they would have to get on the freeway, or a main road.
Maybe LE has more info on this, not revealing yet?

Most young people I know have their phones on silent 24/7. When I silence my phone, I end up forgetting about it and it usually results in a lot of missed texts and a call ir two.

If your pacemaker checks in with your Apple device nightly, would you get any sort of alert if something was wrong?
