I much prefer the thought of the perp being riddled with anxiety waiting for the police to bust down his door any second
I honestly don’t think he cares. JMO

Sadly, you're probably right. Hard to imagine a person capable of committing the crime is also capable of remorse for it

Not a good idea, innocent or not. Folks will parse every word, analyze every bead of sweat, ensure every blink is in sync, and every otherwise autonomic movement dissected. I imagine we'll also see photoshops of him in a mask holding lantana, and superimposed over the porch guy. Helps the slow news cycle, but not his cause.

If innocent as he insists, he should've waited until a suspect is arrested before talking.

Seems like if it was an experienced criminal with a business crime goal, he would have picked a lower profile victim? More attention means more likely to be apprehended?

So perhaps we are looking at someone not experienced, more opportunistic, and/or not a kidnapping?
That's a really excellent point. To borrow a phrase from my sister, he stomped on a hornet's nest when he took NG. Surely an experienced criminal, who specifically targeted her, would have expected a lot of attention on the case. The massive public interest. is more difficult to predict, but IF they knew who she was, they should have expected this to get more assets assigned to the case than if someone kidnapped me. MOO

I agree, perp is likely basking in all the media attention, he is watching from his safe spot ( so far…). He feels very clever. JMO
Totally agree.

Unless he is experienced and wanted the attention, which is what a ransom demand to TMZ and other media suggests. What if the demand for money was secondary to other demands? What if he has a cause?

Hope you're right. It seems likely that he's basking in the media attention and feeling highly competent and, at the same, being totally anxious because he knows that the FBI and LE may know who he is or may be close to knowing who he is.

Which suggests the local Guthrie family probably isn't as well known or famous-by-proxy in the Tucson area that many of us have assumed. If so, this could change the way we consider potential suspects (and their origins/motives).

JMO.
Yes I think that could be very true.

Of course he doesn't and he may already be plotting his next one. We don't know much and that is the issue. Was it wrong house? Was it an obsession with SG or AG? Did he work on NG house and she ticked him off? Is he a serial? If he wasn't a serial, him getting away for so long and seeing the reaction of the community and online wouldn't he try another one months later just to really get people scared? We don't know his sick mindset. Maybe it was a one time fantasy thing but after that need was fed and seeing the neighbors freaked out (for good reason) he is plotting his next adventure. I hate even going there but those poor neighbors have to be fearing this. So many serials out there living among us and we have no clue until we are shocked to see a neighbor picked up and hear what he did. Many serials never planned on being serials, they became that after the first rush and getting away with it.

We have been invested in this case as "normal" people. The perp is not "normal". Trying to figure out how (he) could have pulled this off calls for creative thinking on our part, but most of us can't even imagine the why of it. jmo

If the perp(s) are ever finally tracked down and discovered dead, I wouldn't think it's suicide over guilt or fear of discovery. I'd suspect they were finished off that same night as they'd taken NG. I don't think anyone is going to go to the trouble of dumping her in a lake; maybe in Minnesota, but not Arizona. It's too easy to hide a body in a shallow grave in the desert, or even deeper underground like at a construction site or along a pipeline that's being repaired. No body, no evidence, no chance of future confessions. While I would not be surprised if there are more people involved besides porch guy and whoever was in the house, I also don't think some foreign "cartel" is involved. Not over drugs, or her "seeing something" or whatever, but I do realize that close to the border it would be an easy story to sell, and there are people who stand to gain if that does become the narrative.

Much is being made of the "cheap" gear, the low budget almost luchadores style ski mask, that the holster didn't match the gun, and how over the top the porch guy's outfit was. Eh, maybe. When I look at it I don't think "cheap" I think umbiquitious; he's not shopping for exclusive, easily traced bad guy gear at the Super Villian Store. Assuming he's buying his outfit "off the rack" rather than at Goodwill or collected piecemeal at garage sales, Walmart is the largest retailer in the world. It's like hiding in plain sight. LE says "we're looking for this specific backpack" And Walmart kinda hems and haws and says "Um, yeah, we sure do sell a lot of those..." Can they track it? Probably not. Can they even determine if it was bought locally? Again, probably not. This guy went to the trouble of running a dress rehersal to test the camera in advance of committing the crime. I don't think he's a burgular, nor is he an opportunist who heard about some little old lady who pays in cash. *She* was the job. Abducting her while making it clear that she did not just wander off was the point. Leave just enough blood to let people know you're willing to hurt an old woman, but not enough that they think she's already dead, at least not right away. I do not believe that anyone involved in her abduction ever had any intention of collecting a ransom, or of returning her. As they say, MOO.

i think it's possible that some neighbors' cameras did pick up a car that night, but due to how dark the area is anything useful like make/model/license plate is indistinguishable so it wouldn't be helpful for LE to release those details. IMO
The F.B.I keeps fumbling with the neighbors camera.I wonder if it faces NG’s garage/ driveway?

As the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues with no suspect publicly identified and challenges with DNA evidence, experts may turn to digital forensics.

Authorities have said little about digital evidence in the case, but one leading expert has no doubt that whoever is responsible for the 84-year-old’s disappearance left a digital trail.

“People forget how much their data spreads across devices. So the same thing that makes investigations hard make it hard for criminals to clean up,” said Heather Barnhart, a digital forensics expert with the SANS Institute and Cellebrite...

Re: the Guthrie family placing flowers -

I wonder if the brother has returned home. Or perhaps he was called to duty? I'm not sure if he's still an active duty pilot.

All my own musings/opinions, etc.

Editing to add:

Re: Camron "Arlo" Guthrie - from SG's IG many weeks ago:

Col. Charles Camron “ARLO” Guthrie on his final flight as an F-16 pilot. He retired from military flying this weekend and we were so honored to see his last flight. I have never been more proud of my big brother. He has flown for our country for 26 years, and continues to serve proudly in the “Green Mountain Boys” - the Vermont Air National Guard. He is the pride of our family and one of this country’s finest. (395 weeks ago)

@OldPueblo Do you have any thoughts on the Pantano Wash in Tucson? Wondering if it's easily accessible and if there is a significant amount of water flowing there with the additional rains from January. Thanks for your time!
As far as accessibility, it would depend on what part of the wash. Some parts have railings or fences and other parts don’t and other parts it’s a bridge going over the wash. I know that at Harrison and the Pantano wash there’s nothing and you can park right next to it. If your thinking of hiding a body there, I don’t think that would be ideal as there’s a horse stable over there and they ride the horses on the side of the road and in the wash. Of course, anything is possible.

Yes, and it looks mountainous, as mentioned, the perp could have driven by a cliff, deposited body ( very sorry😢)
Very rough terrain, so once NG was hidden, she would be very hard to find.

Even out in the flat desert, hidden behind/ under tall brush. Lots of large growth, Nobody looks behind. Use a dolly to place 30-50 ft from dirt road.

I know they had some dogs searching NG’s neighborhood, early on. I felt a little sorry for the dogs, working around cactus, of course, they would mainly alert to smell.

Many people go missing in CA, just hiking without enough water, injury, forgot phone or no service, icy fall off cliffs, get lost. Julian Sand’s body ( actor who died hiking), was found on Mt Baldy 5 months after he disappeared. Even with cell phone pings, big search parties couldn’t find, at first. Rough terrain, cliffs.

I think NG will be found in an area like this, most likely your cliff idea. JMO
As far as the search dogs, weren't they just mainly trained to go after drugs and random people? I personally think Blood Hounds would've been the best choice. They have been bred for a verrrrry long time, to track people.
