I approach crime less as a detective and more like narrative. Last night I lay awake thinking of this story — probably because my daughter just announced she plans to move to Tucson — and it seemed simple. A kidnapping which went according to plan until Nancy died and there could be no proof of life. Young people who saw a vibrant Nancy on video but found a frail woman in reality. All for naught. Simple and ironic.

But I also know life is always wilder than fiction. No one could have made up an Epstein. So much for my simple story. All your crazy scenarios can be just as plausible imo.

As for LD and his mother, back in the day no lawyer would have let his client speak to the press in that manner. Too much chance of the wrong outcome. I felt no sympathy. In light of The Guthries’ loss, the kind thing would have been to suffer your lesser victimhood until your lawyer sues. Clearing one’s name is best left to experts. But that’s just my JMOO as an old lady who finds the modern world out of control and over-shared.

yes! Makes total sense. Poor guy and mom are on a redemption tour of sorts. He might have a history regarding drugs but he's not a murderer. Too many people have been dragged through the mud in the last month. IMO, AB did a lot of damage. Then this guy and Carlos have been targeted by LE and the online community. Enough ! With all respect Napoli, I understand your point of view but I don’t see anyone kicking him while he’s down. He is his own worst enemy imo. This man has been involved in a drug related criminal lifestyle off and on pretty much his entire life. With each arrest he has shown, imo, escalating risk behavior. He is a grown man, currently awaiting trial for his most recent arrest, and he is living and now dealing with the fallout of the sum of the choices he himself has made. No one is privy to what was in that warrant. He has been released so time will tell if he was involved in this somehow or not. For now, people can choose to take him at his word or not. Addiction is very sad and drug use can change a person. Does that make him the perp, no, absolutely not. But I’m not going to go so far as to speculate what he ( or anyone else) is or isn’t capable of doing, especially if backed into a corner. Mooo

I watched the LD and MD interviews. Some on here have said they lack emotion and have a flat affect, and that MD wanders in her answers.

Personally, to me, their answers and affect seem quite normal. I've been told I have a flat effect, but I can tell you I care very much for other people, I just don't show it outwardly.

And as far as the "wandering" by MD, I have a friend who is like that and you just have to tolerate it...it's just how their mind works...nothing intentionally evasive or nefarious.

These interviews are only a snippet of the way they communicate. You'd have to talk with them for awhile to see any variation of their normal way of communication.

2:12 a.m. is the only reference we hear from Nanos where software detected a person on camera.
We know Lantana man was alerted to the doorbell camera being active because he immediately tried to block it with his hand and then tried to remove it.

There is no doubt in my mind that the video of Lantana man was recorded at 2:12 a.m.

In your theory, Lantana video was 212. We know Nancy's pacemaker was out of range at 228. So, fewer than 10 minutes? Doesnt make sense to me. There's still that 147 camera time that has NOT been accounted for in your scenario. Besides, Nanos said something was detected, maybe an animal, at 212. That's a separate issue. jmo This was not done , in and out in 10 minutes. Subduing her. Binding her. Carrying her to car. IMO this was 1:47-2:28. MOO

Thank you for the photos of the home in relationship to the neighborhood. Ok, even if he went through the back door, he came out the front door because the blood drops are obvious. I don't think the homes behind NG are relevant. The car theoretically would be seen no matter what street it was parked on. Looks like quite a distance to park the car on the street behind NG then run thru the yards, disable NG, then run thru the yards again, get the car and park it at NG's and bring her out. That doesnt even make sense. So, I will scrap that idea.

I do wonder why they think the perp came prior to the actual Lantana incident? He risked being seen in the neighborhood twice??? Makes little sense to me.

Possibly he lurked for awhile in the car then approached the door without his gear. However, why wouldnt he have disabled the camera on the first go-round? IMO, He looked, went back in his car, donned his gear and disabled the camera and went in. 1 night 1 trip 1 stalker! JMO

I'm can't remember who was famous for saying that there is no way to not take or leave something at any crime scene, but I agree.

Cherry, fair enough but I was also including the family in my kicking people when they are down, phrase. For me, it's a reach, even if the guy has a drug history, that he and his mom should be maligned and dissected at this point. Car returned, phone returned. The law will handle his drug charges. Someone posted yesterday that he was looking to go after people for libel and slander, per his attorney. I just think it's a leap to keep beating this guy up and passive/ aggressively make some of the insinuations that are being made at this point. I agree we don't know what a person might do when backed into a corner. That, however, would then include every figure and family member that has been suspected and associated with NG. Then, nothing moves forward. MOO

I'll throw LD a bone. Is he an upstanding citizen? No, but I have to believe LE has scoured his home, car and electronics to the point you could eat soup off the floor. If there was any evidence he was PG or part of a conspiracy, he would've been arrested by now. Was the interview a good move? Again, no. People have every right to give their side of the story but when you're not camera-ready or media-trained, you can end up making your case look worse. MOO.

Okay, @Napoli. Team of 2? Inside guy and getaway driver. If this is a preplanned kidnapping, you have to figure out how you are going to remove the target from the scene. If it is a 1 person job, you have to be parked very close by. You can’t be parading a mobility impaired 84 year old through the streets at 2:00 am. You can’t park on the street where your vehicle would stick out like a sore thumb. You can’t park in Nancy’s yard or a neighbor’s yard because your vehicle would be caught on camera.
So what’s a kidnapper to do? You have an accomplice. You both have walkie talkies. The plan is the inside guy enters the house from the side slider or rear door, overtakes the victim, binds her hands, duct tapes her mouth, gets her ready to be taken. The accomplice parks nearby, but not in a yard or on the street. He gets a call on his walkie talkie that the inside guy is ready for pickup with the target. The accomplice swings into the circular drive for a 2 minute pickup from his parking area. Inside guy walks the victim down from the side or back. In and out in 3 minutes.
Where does the accomplice parks so he won’t be noticed? Small businesses and malls often have nighttime security and/or cameras. How about a nearby hotel? People in and out all hours of the night. Not much security except for maybe a drive by every hour or so. They have cameras, but were they all checked? Pull in, shut off your lights and engine, and wait for the call on your walkie talkie. In 5 minutes you are at the victim’s home.
The problem with the original plan was that something went wrong in the house. Nancy put up a much bigger fight than was expected. She got hurt. They had to abort the original exit plan. She had to be carried out and they would use the front door.
1 night, 1 trip, 2 kidnappers.

Says new video of car 2.5 miles away has not been identified and they are looking at “hundreds of thousands of other vehicles.”
Says backpack may not have been purchased at Walmart. Could have been purchased secondhand.
“We have information on this case that we think is going to lead us to solving this case, but it takes time.”

in addition to that the other thing that always keeps me hopeful is that you have 1 (or maybe 2,3) perp against many investigators. it may take awhile, but 20ish (maybe more?) people against 1 or 2 is not good odds for the perp. Several eyes on a case that bring varying experiences and ways of thinking will always have the upper hand on 1 or 2 criminals.

Ask war widows … my uncle was a WWII Navy pilot shot down in the Pacific. My aunt was widowed at 23. They never found his body and she lived with wondering until she died seventy years later. Not really the same but the wondering forever leaves a hollow spot.

i think they refer to this as "ambiguous grief" because you're obviously grieving the person's absence but don't have any answers which only makes it worse. absolutely awful and sickening.

The backpack looked new to me, but PG could've stolen it. People walk out of Walmart with pilfered goods all the time. Or it could've been purchased in a state outside the radius of where they're checking.

With regards to the rest of the interview, Nanos doesn't make any sense. Not being able to identify the 2.5 mile car and saying you're looking at "hundreds of thousands of vehicles" doesn't jive with the case being close to cracking. If anything it sounds like it's even more dead in the water. MOO.
