If indeed this is a kidnapping, I would think the kidnappers would have taken her apple watch off. An apple watch can be used for location tracking.

True, but I believe it was on the charger. It wouldn't be likely that they would go to that trouble.

the Sheriff sorry to say does not inspire confidence...he just seems unhinged.
"unhinged" ?? Nervous and overwhelmed yes, but unhinged? Why?

mmmm I mean he's not really well-liked here overall, for many various reasons so there is that.
But, this awful thing DID fall on him and he humanly is distressed as a person. IMO

I feel that if ransom was involved and it was a viable, confirmed demand, that the public would not be privy to her disappearance right now. JMO.

I like this Sheriff and I personally appreciate his style. No, he's not super camera polished and perhaps in the coming days we will see a Public Relations person give updates. IMO Anyway, when there’s limited public info, it usually means LE are working methodically, protecting evidence, and following leads that can’t/shouldn't be shared yet. The Pima County Sheriff's Office serves a county that includes Tucson with access to major city investigator resources and federal partners. This isn't a small rural department guessing it's way through this investigation.

PC aren’t just for the public or the media. They’re also a way for LE to control info and apply pressure, while avoiding details that could allow the suspect to evade detection or destroy evidence. It's a tight rope they are walking. IMO

I think after him saying yesterday he spent day and night fielding media calls, he wanted to shut down the questions so he could get on with his job. He's probably exhausted too juggling the media and his team so might explain some of the shortness

I think they needed to have this presser, might remove the burden on him for a few days

I think you are exactly right, but wasting everybody’s time could have been prevented by issuing a statement about how things would be handled from here on out.

think he had a little talking to by the FBI
I agree. In my opinion, he's handled everything very poorly. He started yesterday's press conference with a political rant that he had to apologize for. He was all over cable news yesterday giving interviews, and also talking to a number of print/online publications, including US magazine of all people, who said they had an exclusive from him. All while not being very careful with his words, which he acknowledged today.

I'm catching up and not sure if this has been said or not - and I know it's completely random... but I for some reason Zizians come to mind for me!

Just feels like something that group would do. However, I think the leader is currently in jail. Wonder what some of his followers are up to if not in jail as well. MOO

Its just odd to me that they took her. Shes not a child, which are taken. If murder was tge motive (if shes dead) then why not leave the body? Unless there is evidence ON the body…but seems like a ton of work to remove her (alive or otherwise), it must play into the motive, the reason they removed her. Could be ransom. Thats the only reason I can think of.
If her body was left they would investigate it as a murder with more telling evidence as opposed to only a missing person by transporting her to a hidden location hoping she’s never found. Chris Watts did the same thing killed Shannan ant home and transported her body to bury near those oil tanks. He thought he would get away with her only missing

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing after the abduction from her Arizona home—and police say the 84-year-old’s pacemaker has stopped syncing with her Apple Watch.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, a law enforcement source told Fox News Digital that Nancy’s pacemaker last synced with her Apple devices roughly 2 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1. Investigators said they believe that’s when she was taken out of range, as her Apple Watch was left behind.

Savannah has broken her silence about her mother’s abduction and asked fans for prayers as Nancy remains missing.

Absent conclusive proof of death, LE has to work under the assumption NG could still be alive, so I completely understand their current posture.

Having said that, I would be beyond shocked if she was still alive at this point.

I would love to be proven wrong. Stranger things have happened.

Miracles do happen.

JMO.

One concern I have is that they are so close to the border. If the person(s) who did this are trying to cover up a murder, how hard would it be for them to cross into Mexico and get lost? I'm asking because I sincerely don't know.

Police are also reviewing information from license plate cameras in the area, according to the person, who was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the case and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.

The motive remains a mystery. Investigators do not believe at this point that the abduction was part of a robbery, home invasion or kidnapping-for-ransom plot, the person said.

I was wondering the same. I couldn’t find any mention of that. Maybe she walked in on a break-in. Although it’s considered safe, no gates in upscale neighborhoods are a lure for robbers. As a previous poster mentioned, regular workers might know she was going out that night.
Did she leave lights on for herself knowing she’d be out after dark? Did the family members who dropped her off walk her in or at least walk her to the door? She is of sound mind, but does have health issues. What did LE find at the scene that immediately raised red flags?
Perhaps when she got home she fell and hit her head at some point which caused bleeding and confusion and she wandered away.
Finding blood or disarray at a missing victim’s home will obviously call for a parallel investigation; one for the search for the victim and one for the reason why they are missing.
No because they found evidence of a forced entry. She did not wander off.

I thought of that earlier, Nogales is just 70 miles away from Tucson.
