More notes from presser:
-We are at a time where we are moving forward to depend on technology - license plate readers, camera systems in the community, anything, everything.
-It is a crime scene, we know that.
-She needs her daily medication.
-Anyone that sees anything that maybe it's her, take a picture and send it to us.

  • #82
we know it is a crime scene, she needs her daily medication. {sheriff reemphasized these things]

  • #83
Q elaborate on what makes it a crime scene and not an elopement

A. she did not leave on her own, we know that.

  • #84
There are cameras at the home that they are looking through.

  • #85
Sheriff just won't and can't give the reason that they believe it's a crime. Not giving the details. Sheriff doesn't know if it was targeted. Cameras in the home and they are reviewing them. Not sure if there is an active threat. Mentions a prowler may have been around. Search and rescue are now home to rest after being out all night.

Q any adtl info on what makes this a crime scene

A I wish I could. I know everybody wants to know, but I can't do that - would be inappropriate at this time.

Circs onscene that we beleive are suspicious in nature but cannot get into it yet.

Q was this targeted?

A Don't know

Q. Cameras at the home?

A They do and we are looking at that.

Q. threat to public?

A. no indication public is in danger but hate to say no without more info

Presser Q&A
-Indication of... She didn't walk out alone, she has severe mobility issues (personally, worth noting that he stumbled over his words when asked what indicated that this was a crime scene... He clearly wasn't allowed to talk about certain things).
-No family members or caregivers also missing.
-Cannot give more information on what indicates that this is a crime scene, it would be inappropriate at this time.
-Can't get into whether there were signs of breaking and entering.
-There were circumstances on scene that are believed to be suspicious in nature and that is all that can be said.
-There ARE cameras at the home and they are looking through them.
-They don't think there is an active threat, but they will be canvassing the neighborhood in case there was a prowler around.
-Search and rescue has been shut down.

I am concerned they MAY have found blood evidence. :(

  • #90
The police have her cell phone.

snipped

Wow. That is definitive.

Thanks for all the summaries of the presser, people.

I agree. I would assume it would first be considered wandering off in a confusion, even if the family says she is not mentally impaired. Or maybe she went outdoors for some reason and suffered a fall or medical emergency. Neither would involve homicide detectives.

Something in the house immediately concerned LE. My mind goes to blood, tbh.

Yes and I’m thinking things broken and thrown around, possibly looking for something, money or jewelry etc. Someone mentioned her cane might have been left in the home also.

Doesn't sound good. Search and rescue team sent home and house remains a crime scene.
😟

Someone at her church alerted the family that she was not at church the next day.

really important, Nancy is of great sound mind. She did not wander off. Her physical limitations are based on age, but she is as sharp as a tack.

LE have her cell phone.

last seen at 9:45 pm her children left her off. Kids got call from church member your mom isn't here. they searched briefly and called LE.

I hope these cameras give some idea of who may have taken her.

  • #97
Savannah is in Arizona.

  • #98
He mentioned that search and rescue are home to rest, not sure if that means they are coming back. To me it's weird that no one is actively searching now.

"She did NOT leave on her own" per PIMA Co Sheriff's Dept via NBC News Special Rpt

Someone at her church alerted the family that she was not at church the next day.
I wonder how she normally got to church. Would she drive herself or did someone take her?
