Removing her from the home had to be so insanely difficult in any circumstance (moving an elderly but with it woman against her will or a dead body) that I have to think this wasn’t planned but maybe a fight over money that got out of hand. Botched robbery seems so unlikely given the location and private vibes you get from that community.
Possibly two people needed to move her?

“There were a lot of dark vans with blacked out windows,” Morgan Brown, who lives “a quarter of a mile up the street” from Nancy, told Us Weeklyexclusively. “There were a lot of cop cars there at first, and then it was vans, so I assumed that maybe they came across something.”

According to Brown, those living in the neighborhood are being told to “look at our Ring cameras to see if anything popped up out of the ordinary.” He claimed that authorities are “narrowing it down” to some time between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. local time on Sunday morning. (Nancy was last seen on Saturday, January 31.)

“I don’t know how they know that,” Brown continued. “My Ring cameras don’t face the street, but I went through them and haven’t heard that anyone found anything.”

That is all kinds of alarming.

They will know if she likely left from her bed.

This wasn't a crime that happened at 9:30 ... unless they entered then and remained for hours.

If it's an SA, that might be went she's missing and IMO will be found in the general area, concealed.

I don't like it but maybe there's something about her bedroom that looked slept in to family but looked criminal to trained LE.

I fear the next update.

Anything is helpful. The cameras may pick up sounds, screams, cars driving by, etc.
Has it been determined if she lives in a gated community? There must be cameras in their neighborhood on the streets and busy main intersections.

I don't see any indication this was a gated community.

She moved there in 1975 so it's not likely there was a gated community in that area at that time.

It's also more likely that the home is pretty basic and might not have much in the way of security features. No gates on the driveway. Secluded entrance not visible from the street.

I, too, would be looking at yard or pool maintenance people, housekeeper or such.

The more I think about it, the more I believe more than 1 individual was involved.
Just gut feeling. Easier to remove her maybe.

1 am to 4 am would indicate someone came to the door, had a key or broke in (I.e. wasn’t sitting in a closet for 5 hours once she got home). Broke in seems so unlikely given how fancy the house was and how set back the house is. So, again, this leads me to came to the door or had a key. Inside job.

The time makes me think someone young and in need of fast cash. Prob for drugs.

Money and drugs were my two immediate thoughts upon reading about the facts around this disappearance.

Money almost certainly factors into this crime somehow. Drugs very well might have played a role, as well.

Nancy Guthrie's belongings, including her purse, wallet, cell phone, and vehicle were at her home. PCSD said she suffers from limited mobility and her medications that she needs are still inside of her house.

If it was robbery, what did they rob?

Does anyone know how to check if there have been recent break-ins in the neighborhood?

This article states investigators have narrowed to 1-4am time frame. Neighbor of Savannah Guthrie's Missing Mom Nancy Details Crime Scene (Excl)
Thanks for linking, @allboys .

The time frame makes me think she was in her bed asleep and was woken and either harmed right there or forced to walk out to a vehicle ?
The fear she might have endured .... 🤬

I do want to think she is somehow alive but if the perp(s) is known to her that's extremely unlikely.
So sorry for Savannah and her siblings !!
Imo.

I would guess it unlikely that Nancy Guthrie had much cash in her wallet.

Perhaps the house looked as though someone had rifled through the drawers and cupboards looking for cash or other valuables.

LE might know that as many people will call in to report ?

this has been my exact thought. while not impossible, i find it hard to believe that if it was a botched robbery, the perp(s) would bother removing her body from the home. if you don't account for that beforehand, it's gonna be extremely difficult (and complicate everything) to suddenly take one of the most major pieces of evidence with you.

I remember a cop telling my family once that robbers want to get in and out as fast and easily as possible--they're not going to bother working on forcing open a door that isn't budging and they're not going to spend any more time in a home than they have to. and there's a reason most robberies occur when people aren't home -- perps don't want to deal with the residents in any way (whether alive or dead), they are there for things (/money). Stopping to pick up and transport an elderly woman's body after attacking/kill her just isn't going to be in most robber's repertoire. But there's probably some outlier cases where it's happened so i'm not outright dismissing it.

The neighbor confirmed that the neighborhood was not gated.
Looking at the neighborhood there had to have been a vehicle involved. Except for the road there is really no place to walk.
The houses are off the road to varying degrees so I doubt any Ring cameras would catch a glimpse of a car going by.
Again, why does someone take an 84 year old woman?

I don't see someone doing this quickly for drugs/money moving her body.

Good point. It's a stretch. The fact that the wallet was left behind really makes robbery as the motive less likely.

I could see drugs playing a role, if the perp was someone she knew and desperate or high enough that they were acting impulsively/irrationally. People do incredibly stupid and horrible things, both for drugs and on drugs, all the time.

Drugs are often a gateway to other crimes.

I can see someone she knew leaving the front door open to make it look like a home invasion and then dumping her body.

A monetary/financial motive to my way of thinking could involve more than a quick cash grab.

Whatever the motive, let's face it: Whoever committed this crime isn't a MENSA member.

They're going to be caught. Swiftly.

I’m currently in Florida visiting my mother at her memory care home, so I only looked at the most recent post now to see if Mrs. Guthrie has been found.

So far, no. It seems very sinister since the police said it’s a crime scene and she needs her meds.

Whether you are famous or not, a mother is a mother. Savannah and family must be frantic.

My mom is not famous and she means the world to me.

Hoping for good news but not expecting it.

I’ll read everything tonight when I have time.
