Great observations. The car has me confused as well considering the lack of info Regarding who really helps her where and When. I think they have an idea who it is. Imo
Definitely one of those situations where you find yourself picking up a bit on what's not being said.
May or may not be relevant in the end, but there's some big piece of the jigsaw they're carefully avoiding.

It's also possible that due to her mobility issues, she no longer drives, but that her helpers use her car to drive her places, get groceries for her, etc. But if someone else drives her to church, one would expect that person to have reported her missing when they went to pick her up. So maybe she still drives sometimes?

my dad's about the same age and has mobility issues. can't walk, wheelchair bound. but still drives. actually still goes grocery shopping. my mom and sister (who he lives with) are not sure what happens at the store, but he does come home with groceries.

This is just so perplexing. Who abducts an 84-year old woman who is a regular churchgoer and quiet living person when she is sleeping?

Wouldn't a ransom demand have come out by now?
Yeah, and kidnapping for ransom isn't really a thing anymore. When it does happen, its typically a criminal on criminal sort of thing, where the abductors know the victim's families aren't going to be calling police.

You just don't have any realistic chance of getting away with something like that.

I still think there's evidence of violence, and they just can't say if she was alive or not when she was taken.

Sheriff believes she was abducted while she was sleeping.

I read the article (albeit quickly) and I don't see anywhere where the sheriff mentions being abducted while she slept? I'm not sure where they're getting that.

Was her daughter Savannah working on a controversial subject or investigation that someone wanted to stiffle?

I was watching the police helicopter for a while (doing the usual squiggly searching pattern) then looked away, and when I went back the helicopter had returned to the airport and we now have this mysterious little yellow plane with no id, flying in a perfect circle around Nancy's address. What could this be?

They showed a map at the press conference today of aerial coverage, so this is extremely likely.

""Today" show host Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy, is missing in Arizona in what police believe was an abduction from her home while she slept, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS News on Monday."

I think he very likely said that, and they merely summarized it. They did interview him personally it seems.

Yes, I saw that. It's just that the article is full of his quotes and none of them say that.

I wonder whether the sheriff meant that they thought she was actually asleep when she was abducted/taken, or merely that she was taken/abducted at a time when she might reasonably be expected to be sleeping.

Or maybe the reporting is like the game of "telephone," and the story has changed in the telling.

"I believe she was abducted, yes," Nanos said. "She didn't walk from there. She didn't go willingly.""

I've seen a few snarky comments about her views on ICE but to be honest, I think any journalist with any sort of political opinion has the capacity and ability to upset one bunch of fringe loons or another - on any number of points on the political spectrum. This doesn't strike me as 'that sort' of situation but probably wouldn't rule it out, things being what they are at the moment. I wouldn't rule much at all out right now though.

It sounds to me LE might think she has wandered away from home and become incapacitated without a crime taking place.
I thought LE stated they were treating it 'as a crime scene"...
What has been said that leads one to believe LE might think she wandered away? Did I miss something?

“Sheriff Nanos has stated that he believes that a crime has been committed. At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” the sheriff’s office said in an emailed statement Monday afternoon.

“We don’t see this as much as a search mission as we do a crime scene,” Sheriff Nanos said. Later in the day, Nanos told CBS News that evidence points to a possible abduction while Nancy was sleeping.

I doubt it’s related, but is Nancy divorced or widowed?

"Nanos would not elaborate on what makes it a crime scene, saying “it would be inappropriate at this time.” He added that a search for Nancy Guthrie has been “shut down” because her disappearance is being treated as a crime. “Right now, we don’t see this as a search mission as much as we do a crime scene," he said."

I would think that a financial motive would be ruled out like right away. At this age I'd imagine one of her kids would be on the bank account and I'm betting the account was one of the first things checked. Plus the timing she was taken was in the middle of the night, no bank would be open, only ATM but her stuff was found at home so I don't think its that. This so wierd...you never hear of 84 year old just being snatched like this unles its a wondering off situation.
