AZ Nancy Guthrie (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Was her daughter Savannah working on a controversial subject or investigation that someone wanted to stiffle?
Savannah Guthrie had been on leave from NBC as she’s been recovering from vocal surgery. She was due to return back on-air this week and then travel to Milan for two weeks to cover the Winter Olympics.

Daily Mail, so grain of salt with the sentence below:

"Lights in the common area were all on, and Guthrie's front door was unlocked but there were signs of forced entry, the Daily Mail understands.

"Comments from the sheriff:

‘She did not walk away,' Pima County sheriff Chris Nanos told the Daily Mail.'We believe she was forced to leave that residence. It was against her will.

’'This was, in our opinion, someone entered her home in the middle of the night and removed her. It could be more than one person, we don’t know that yet.'

Don't understand why they would take her with them.

Her mother had her birthday last week.
If they knew her, she could identify. Maybe they didn't expect it to go so far as to...

I would think that a financial motive would be ruled out like right away. At this age I'd imagine one of her kids would be on the bank account and I'm betting the account was one of the first things checked. Plus the timing she was taken was in the middle of the night, no bank would be open, only ATM but her stuff was found at home so I don't think its that. This so wierd...you never hear of 84 year old just being snatched like this unles its a wondering off situation.
But she lives in a million dollar home and one of her daughters is a host on the Today show, likely paid extremely well.

Nancy Guthrie was dragged from her home and abducted. So depraved that someone would do that to an elderly lady.

If the forced entry part is correct, that might change things away from a personal issue to... well, all manner of other options in addition.

Yup, it would open many other doors.

I hate this case.

Don't mess with the older folks, dammit.

Too many valuables left behind. One thing that always stuck with me in the Jayme Closs case, was the valuables left behind, wallet and guns for example, told me this was not a burglary.
OMG every time I hear Jayme's name the entire case still gives me the willies. Followed it from start to end...she was held in my home town and fortunately ran into a neighbor once she escaped. I pray to God that this be a happy ending too!

Forced entry and left the front door unlocked on their way out, but why do that?

Because you've got your hands full or you're carrying something / someone and you're leaving in a rush, would be my guess. Might indicate the perp was on their own.

She was prepping to go to the Winter Olympics in Italy... Bigger story who knows!

Sometimes the obvious answer isn’t always easy to see…for me, thank you. 😉

Savannah is making at least 8 million a year with her various NBC duties. Her husband may be worth more working in finance.
its a lot, but feel like there are better targets out there. to go after a national new anchors's mother would be so risky if it was just for ransom

Maybe perpetrator wanted to make it look like she had wandered off.

I read this on another article: "Nanos said he couldn't share too many details about what made investigators suspicious, but he described the house as being in a state of disarray that was unusual."

Hmm. Now I wonder if what you shared is what is meant by "state of disarray".

Every crime is sad and upsetting but ones against young children or elderly people really get to me..

These people are defenceless 🥲🥲

Not sure if this is relevant, but the church event she attended on Saturday night, could that have been somehow related? I doubt it, but right now we have several fundraisers going on, both at church and other places. Some of the items being auctioned are high priced items. I’m probably way off the mark, but wanted to mention it. I’m no longer able to bid on anything because the last time I did, I spent over $4,000. My husband takes my phone away and hides it, which is a good thing 😬
