NBC Nightly News just stated "she was harmed"

Forced entry and left the front door unlocked on their way out, but why do that?
Is it to make it look like she has just ‘wandered off’?

my dad's about the same age and has mobility issues. can't walk, wheelchair bound. but still drives. actually still goes grocery shopping. my mom and sister (who he lives with) are not sure what happens at the store, but he does come home with groceries.
BBM:
Your dad is to be commended for his independence and your mom and sister have me laughing.

NBC Nightly News at 5:30 pm CST: the Pima Co. sheriff said 'she had been harmed' but wouldn't elaborate further...

I've seen a few snarky comments about her views on ICE but to be honest, I think any journalist with any sort of political opinion has the capacity and ability to upset one bunch of fringe loons or another - on any number of points on the political spectrum. This doesn't strike me as 'that sort' of situation but probably wouldn't rule it out, things being what they are at the moment. I wouldn't rule much at all out right now though.
I am scratching my head at the fact that it’s extremely unlikely that an 84 yo (with no dementia and having limited mobility) go missing in the middle of the night… combined with the fact this rare event has happened to a very well known public figure’s family member. I’m not suggesting there is a relationship, but the combination of factors make it even more a statistical anomaly.

Savannah is making at least 8 million a year with her various NBC duties. Her husband may be worth more working in finance.
its a lot, but feel like there are better targets out there. to go after a national new anchors's mother would be so risky if it was just for ransom

This may be a case of having easy access to a target, *IF* this was an abduction for ransom.

Could be an easy target is the best target scenario.

The sheriff said "there is no threat to the public interest" so it appears that the suspect is known to LE.
.
imo

I think Savannah’s siblings live in AZ. Do either of them have teenaged or young adult kids? I just can’t imagine an elderly woman answering the door to a stranger at night. Feels like a very close to home crime to me.
Unless the timing was right after she was dropped off, and someone rang the doorbell. She might think that it was her friend needing to say something to her. I could see myself automatically opening the door in a situation like this. I would not open the door in other situations. I just hope that they have lots of security cameras, inside and out, especially since the mother lives alone in a secluded place.

Although it is a gated, secure neighborhood, there are always ways to get into the community. If Mom has hired help, they may come in on a daily basis. Who knows if someone has a badge of hers or a sticker on their vehicle...That's how we can get into our subdivision. Visitors stop at the guard shack.

I just hope that she is found soon. I also suspect that it is someone that she knows or it is an associate of someone she knows.

"Nanos would not elaborate on what makes it a crime scene, saying “it would be inappropriate at this time.” He added that a search for Nancy Guthrie has been “shut down” because her disappearance is being treated as a crime. “Right now, we don’t see this as a search mission as much as we do a crime scene," he said."

Why would the search be “shut down”? Abduction, crime, homicide, Nancy is still missing and needs to be located. That’s so odd IMO.

I mean it was also stated by the sheriff that she was in her bed. so in that case she thought she was secure police said there were cameras and i assume a security system that went with it? forced entry? so no one reported anything until she didnt show up to church. if it was a ransom or kidnapping wouldnt they have asked for money by now? or could that also not be revealed?

Nothing is reported as missing and no ransom, seems off.
part of me wonders if this is why they suspect foul play with homicide
maybe there hasnt been a ransom call when there should have been one based on other evidence like say secuirty footage they may have

I can only assume they must have found blood in the house to be so sure she was harmed, unless they're basing that statement on something they've seen on camera footage

This is my thought too.

Or they have strong reason to believe this sweet lady was targeted. MOO

Evidence of car leaving the home/street and tracked leaving the neighborhood?

Pima County Sheriff says Nancy Guthrie, @SavannahGuthrie’s mother, was taken from her bed in the middle of the night against her will. She was harmed in the process

Ugh… my first thoughts this person relied on speed, surprise and force (of a 84 year old woman- FU) rather than strategy. Probably not concerned with leaving trace evidence. Probably didn’t think through area cameras or forensic fallout. IMO Being taken to a second location rarely results in a live rescue. IMO
