Just thought of something. Maybe someone has already mentioned this very sickening scenario... But i wonder if someone close to her is being "punished" ... They could have been the target of a threat ("pay me or I'll take your mom/friend/relative") type of scenario)? MOO

Why would the search be “shut down”? Abduction, crime, homicide, Nancy is still missing and needs to be located. That’s so odd IMO.

I believe he meant SAR boots on the ground which does make sense, this is not someone who wandered off and they are grid searching. Locating her relies more on forensic work, etc. controlled searches directed by investigators. Sadly, if they zero in on an area where body recovery is probable based on evidence , SAR could be deployed again. IMO

I can't come up with a similar case
84 yrs old living alone middle of the night abduction
Wow
Images of Nancy;s home were shown on the news and it looks isolated.
LE then asked for her home not to be shown.
Anyone know if it is isolated?
imo

With an unlocked door and also forced entry, I wonder if someone was actively robbing her house when she was dropped off.
I think LE has reported the abduction time to be between 1 & 4am. And that she was in bed when abducted.

clearly from the arial view that house had a lot of space between it and neighbors. No one going to hear anything.

But she lives in a million dollar home and one of her daughters is a host on the Today show, likely paid extremely well.
a million dollar home that she bought in the 70s for probably a 5-figure price.

but yes, her daughter is paid extremely well, and would be a conceivable ransom target.

Unless the timing was right after she was dropped off, and someone rang the doorbell. She might think that it was her friend needing to say something to her. I could see myself automatically opening the door in a situation like this. I would not open the door in other situations. I just hope that they have lots of security cameras, inside and out, especially since the mother lives alone in a secluded place.

Although it is a gated, secure neighborhood, there are always ways to get into the community. If Mom has hired help, they may come in on a daily basis. Who knows if someone has a badge of hers or a sticker on their vehicle...That's how we can get into our subdivision. Visitors stop at the guard shack.

I just hope that she is found soon. I also suspect that it is someone that she knows or it is an associate of someone she knows.

JMO.
If you are saying that Guthrie lived in a gated, secure neighborhood, others have said that it isn't gated.

Often in these kind of potential missing person/abduction cases the family gets on media and pleads for the release of their family member. I have to wonder what is going on behind the scenes?

Maybe laying in wait then? So scary and sad to even think of these awful possibilities.

I don't think there is a large amount of blood in the home or anything too obviously disturbed based on this:

"Family members looked for Guthrie for about an hour before calling the Pima County Sheriff's Department, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos."

If family was searching in the home and surrounding area for an hour before calling police, they would have seen a large amount of blood or other obvious evidence of a homicide and called police sooner than an hour after arriving.

IMO, the sheriff's office who is calling this a crime scene has other evidence to call it a crime scene, whether that be video evidence, fingerprints, or something else that isn't as obvious as large pools of blood would be.

I can only assume they must have found blood in the house to be so sure she was harmed, unless they're basing that statement on something they've seen on camera footage
Possibly blood. But in the event they found her only cane (walker etc.) left behind, by default that would mean her exit would have caused pain (harm). If she was carried out, obviously violence could (likely would) have taken place prior.

I find that concerning in itself for an 84 yr old woman who lives alone.
That's just me.

I suspect they took her to try to force her to use her bank cards to withdraw funds :( But if so, they would have no use for her if she failed to comply or after she had complied. Very worried it is already too late to find Nancy alive :(
all the bank machines I see have cameras... and for sure record every transaction so how would LE not know? Also says her purse was left in the house so...

Maybe they found so much blood they don't think anyone could survive. :(

This is my thought too.

It was stated earlier today that her house was found to be in fact a crime scene and they were processing it as a crime.

Someone posted the house earlier and it seems she has lived there since 1975 and the home was purchased for less than 100,000 back in 75 and was likely paid off a long long time ago. I would say the house is worth a lot, but that doesn't mean she is "rich". It's certainly financial security to have a home that is paid off and that has appreciated that much. It's like 10X more now than when they bought it.

Sadly that may be the case. Otherwise they would have a team on the ground and possibly drones. Because of Savannah I think they would continue to search.
