AZ Nancy Guthrie (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I keep going back to the most common scenario for an octogenarian who goes missing — wandered off on her own (maybe after head injury or medical episode left her with confusion).
- I hope they are rechecking all the nearby homes and garages, sheds, pools, vehicles etc. Just in case.

If she was taken (a lot of effort), it seems likely she was taken in a vehicle since she hasn’t been found yet.
- I hope that police have a vehicle description and are just not sharing it yet.

Really scary if they still don’t have a suspect vehicle. Get road facing cameras, folks. If not for you, for your neighbors. 😢

Gary Martell allegedly killing and assaulting his 82yo neighbor, Dolores "Dee" Martin, in Skowhegan, Maine in summer 2024
I just hope it doesn’t have the same sick outcome as that case.

Heartbreaking enough to find out your elderly family member was murdered.. I’d imagine it makes it even worse to know they were sexually assaulted in their last hours on earth.

Any news of a ransom note or anything?

Now that I think about it, if it was a ransom situation, we'd not know anything about that yet....

They already have mentioned a suspicious vehicle and also think that she was harmed while she was being dragged out of her house. I do not think they are continuing to search for her in the immediate area.

A page or two back, police said no ransom demand

The news this evening showed that Savannah did a segment from her mom’s home when her mom turned 80 (I believe) and they talked about why her mom chose to remain in Tucson. Maybe that’s a little bit too much public information?

Right, but would they say so if there was a ransom situation in progress?

Elderly people are such targets. Especially someone living alone , with no neighbours living in close proximity.

@ 12:28 sheriff is asked if anyone associated with her is missing, family, caregiver etc and he evades the question by answering all about how the family,Nancy being the mom, Samantha etc everyone's been so helpful on and on.
Then he evades answering the question is there anything more about her physical condition that you can tell us?
LE: .."I wish I could".
I think they have identified a suspect and LE and the family do not want to be asked why an 84 yr old woman who is physically disabled was in her home alone.
imo

Although Brian Entin just posted there was no ransom demand in this case per LE.

If it was a breakin, she may have heard the noise and called out. The perpetrators heard her and went to her room. Perhaps she recognized whoever it was and they took her so they wouldn't be identiified. Could be they emptied out her purse , found nothing and threw it to the side.
There was a case in Oregon many years ago where an older woman was taken from her home. Almost the same circumstances. She was later found in the trunk of an unknown car parked in an unknown apt complex. After many weeks, some of the residents complained, called police and she was found deceased, of course. But also in the car was a bag of cookies. ?! Don't know if it was ever resolved.
Like they gave her a snack to hold her over until someone found her???? wow

According to LE Nancy is not capable of leaving her house on her own.
She has physical issues.

Maybe I missed it, but I would think there would be so many ring cameras in the neighborhood (and even on Nancy's house) that would have caught photos/videos of vehicles, people, entering/exiting??? I'm also surprised that apparently no alarm was sounded (and authorities notified) when the front door was breached.

OFFICIALS ARE NOW INVESTIGATING TODAY SHOW HOST SAVANNAH GUTHRIE'S MOTHER'S DISAPPEARANCE AS A CRIME. CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST DETAILS

An 84-year-old woman who was reported missing in Arizona has been identified by officials as the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced during a news conference on Sunday that Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday night at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said a family member reported her missing on Sunday, around noon.

Nanos said search and rescue teams have been out at Nancy Gutherie's home, along with homicide teams and detectives.

Foul play has not been ruled out at this time.

Why aren't they saying what they saw on the cameras and doesn't the family have access to Mom's cameras? Saw where family said nothing suspicious when they went to check on Nancy and now police say it's a crime scene???????

Anything is helpful. The cameras may pick up sounds, screams, cars driving by, etc.

I don't know how far the street is from where the Ring camera would be mounted, but mine records about 50 feet out, includes my street, and any cars. To be clear, my Ring doesn't alert to 50 feet out, but it does film 50 feet out. I can go back to any time and look at the view to the street from my Ring app on my phone.
I had to reset the zones on two of mine because they kept notifying me of large vehicles on my street, which is 75 feet away.
