AZ Nancy Guthrie (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I don’t believe Nancy was kidnapped for ransom. The blood at the scene, combined with the delay in delivering any note, makes that unlikely.

Kidnapping for ransom is also virtually unheard of given the victimology in this case, and the fact that it's not a 1990's Hollywood movie out there.

That leaves two plausible explanations:

• A third party is attempting to exploit the situation after the fact.
• The perpetrator, having already committed the crime, decided to see “why not?” and pursue ransom anyway.

I hope it's the latter, because that's just another way to capture this person. But I'd be shocked if it wasn't just someone taking advantage.

Could they have somehow been able to get medication she needed? Not from her doctor, but someone else?

I hope so, I really do.

This is so frightening.

JMVHO.

It would depend on the medication. I have seen it reported that Mrs Guthrie has a pacemaker. I'm thinking it may be anticoagulants she is needing. We were told that my husband needed to take his anticoagulant at approx the same time everyday for DVT. This would also cause her to bleed more easily. If he cuts himself it's typically a lot of bleeding.

My guess is that there will be a family drama, a relative or something. I don't think she's alive, they got rid of the body to hide the murder.

I'm so surprised that either the family or law enforcement doesn't have some kind of security to keep reporters and other curious people going right up to the front door.

I've said this from day 1

What a nightmare and this is just getting started. The flood gates have opened. These ransom demands going to TMZ and other news outlets are likely garbage (but what if...), but every single one still has to be treated as potentially real. Each one has to be evaluated, traced, and ruled out, which drains time, pulls focus, and creates chaos behind the scenes while LE are trying to work actual evidence. IMO

If the medication is in fact insulin [theoretically], then it would be fairly common and rather easy to come by compared to other medications.
It isn't insulin. High blood sugar isn't deadly within 24 hours.

I suspect it is a heart medication.

I have a feeling she will be found close to home. How many times have we seen searches not be really effective and the person winds up being found close by? A lot.
