That kind of leaves:
"I'm entitled to something NG is not giving me," OR
"NG is an obstacle to my getting what I want," OR
"I'm a freak pervert who sexually assaults elderly women and I don't want to leave the evidence that leaving without her body would tell."

Doesn't it?
Yes.

Those are the most logical choices as to motive.

I personally am hopeful that Nancy is alive.

EDITED MY POST because suddenly convinced the kidnapper is reading websleuths!

Without knowing more it's as good a theory as any. This is just so bizarre. Don't get me wrong we have our share of crime... the latest trend being attacks at transit centers and on busses, but NOTHING like this.

I think this is going to be a sexually motivated homicide committed by a stranger, or a relative stranger.

In the first two examples, you'd expect to find a body.

Are there any active searches going on? Flyers being passed out with her photo? Grid searches? Anything??
The people in the community have been notified that she is missing via LE going door to door asking if anyone has seen anything on cameras. Searches were already done by LE, and they have conducted both ground and air searches. JMO

The victim had three children, one daughter is famous and rich, lives far from her mother, and where do the other two live? Couldn't they have hired a nurse or someone to take care of her mother? I don't understand... Maybe the other children live nearby and looked after her. The house must have been full of cameras and security, a person alone, in such a big house, next to a desert.

I'm guessing she had lots of staff too. The garden looks beautifully kept, there is a pristine pool, maybe she had a dog walker, probably a cleaner. Perhaps also carers. There must be an awful lot of people who knew her who they have to interview.

re. the presser, Sheriff seemed excited and nervous, and at pains to convey how little LE know, and how slow all the tests are to come back. He almost slagged off tech companies, made a joke about how he too was wondering why it was taking so long, and then backtracked completely and went into a monologue about how great they were. It felt like he realised he was about to throw them under the bus when in fact they have already co-operated.

Usually, if a police force under this much pressure would want to convey maximum competence. He seemed to want to do the opposite. I think it was an act, and performing the act was making him nervous. Maybe it was a last minute decision, hence the delay.

I also think it was odd the way he said 'we'll see you on Thursday', like... aren't you hoping to solve it by Thursday? It's only Tuesday! And then he went 'UNLESS THERE'S A BREAK!' like he already knows there will be a break but he can't tell us about it yet.

MOO. And of course this might all just be wishful thinking on my part :(.
He really did seem “lighter”, as opposed to the other day when it looked like he might cry. But that means nothing. They seem to all be okay with him running the show-I would have expected others to add more to the presser if they didn’t want him to run point. This is front page news everywhere. I can only imagine NBC and the discussions that are taking place.

who says she needs taken care of? All reports indicate she is of sound mind with a few physical health problems. Meaning she is very much in the driver's seat as far as making her own decisions about how much or how little help she needs or wants.

Cameras in the residence and nearby close family may have been all she was comfortable allowing in the form of caretaking. Old does not mean should be treated like an invalid or an incompetent person. JMO

Yes, her oldest daughter Annie and her husband bought a house last year just 4 miles from her mom, Nancy.

That is true, unless she was taken away alive in the hope that the perpetrator could use her - at least temporarily - to get what he believed he was entitled to (changing of a will, stop an expected imminent changing of a will, access to a safe deposit box or safe) or to stop what he believed amounted to getting in his immediate way (NG influencing a family member or friend to change their relationship to this person or to exercise more caution around this person).

No visible damage that I can see.

She was taken through the front door but it's possible the perpetrator made entry through a different door, which might show evidence of a forced entry.

Why on earth is Brian Entin allowed to be walking around a crime scene taking video?
I AM amazed he is out there alone? No fences around this place..walk right up to the front door. Why not protect it until this is resolved? I am really confused on how this investigation is being handled. If LE is not going to put up some tape maybe the family should? These guys are operating like Mayberry RFD.

I just watched Brian Entin's video of the door.

Just based on that video, it looks to me like the perp might have knocked (wearing a face covering, I assume, so the Ring doorbell wasn't a concern) and then stepped to the side of the alcove, where they wouldn't be visible from the peephole or window. The blood, to me, does look like a broken nose. Did the perp move to cover her mouth and break her nose in the process?

If that's indeed what happened, I wonder if the perp was inside the house at all, or if they took her from the front step. I'd think the Ring camera would have caught a car, but maybe the perp covered it and then pulled the car around?

Just a hypothetical scenario, MOO

Does this mean
there was no forced entry as previously reported? 🤔

Also
I wonder if these houses are equipped with alarms?
Usually,
such alarms are connected either to Police or Security firm.

Not to mention,
the alarm is so loud, the whole neighbourhood is awoken.
