You’ve got to be kidding me:

A ransom note was sent to a local Arizona news station following the disappearance of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, the Pima County sheriff told CBS News.

The note, which the station received Monday and agreed not to report on, contained specific details about the home and what Nancy Guthrie was wearing that night, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said, although he would not confirm the accuracy of that information or the legitimacy of the note.

Investigators have analyzed the note and are taking it seriously, Nanos said.

He said the FBI reviewed the note and made the decision to share it with Savannah Guthrie. Authorities had hoped to keep the information from becoming public, but the note was obtained by TMZ, which reported on it before contacting the sheriff's office, Nanos said.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department had earlier said on social media it was aware of "reports circulating about possible ransom note(s)," adding, "Anything that comes in, goes directly to our detectives who are coordinating with the FBI."

Surveillance video from a home security system has yielded nothing so far, Nanos told CBS News. He said investigators believe the system may have been set to automatically delete footage after a short period of time, and they are now attempting to recover it through forensic means.

I have a battery ring doorbell, and that mount doesn't look like a ring. My ring system detects when the doorbell is removed, and that info is stored in the devices activity. I don't have inside cameras, but have motion detectors, so when it is on home & alarmed it alerts when someone is walking in the devices view and also stores that in activity. JMO

I feel like Ring is becoming the Hoover of the 2020s. I'm not sure about America, but I know in Ireland if you ask to borrow a Hoover, everyone knows you just mean a vacuum cleaner. I'd wager some younger generations don't even know its a brand, because its not a common one to own here. If you say someone had a Ring doorbell, they know it's a video doorbell.

Personally, we have a Blink doorbell camera and the mount looks like that one, it also doesn't notify me when I take it down to change the batteries.

could still be droplets if she were freshly deceased.....

She was taken through the front door but it's possible the perpetrator made entry through a different door, which might show evidence of a forced entry.

I wonder if the perpetrator entered through the backyard -- it appears there is at least one door at the rear of the house (one door is visible on the far left side of the house near the motor court and I suspect there is probably another door to the covered patio). There is also an A/C unit positioned under a smaller window (perhaps a bathroom window?) which could have been a possible entry point. Photo from the Daily Mail article.

She had no reason to walk out of her house

I think she could have come to the door and gotten hit in the nose.

I know everyone is different, except that all of us who are older have a safe path to the bathroom. Out of bed, 5 steps ahead to wall, follow wall etc. My cane is also standing by my bed when I need it. When I fell last year, it was difficult for me to get up, but when I did, the first thing I did was get to my couch to sit, and I wouldn't have gone outside. As a 77yr old, I don't see that she would have gone outside and never would have gone out in the dark. JMO
agree with that and no way would she go to or answer the door.

My guess is that there will be a family drama, a relative or something. I don't think she's alive, they got rid of the body to hide the murder.

This is my thinking as well. Whoever did this is known to the family. Unfortunately, it may have begun as a robbery and ended in murder. They took the body with them, and who knows where she is in that desert. It's all so very sad and unsettling.

Taking dog out? If she had been out for the evening, wouldn't she have to take out her dog? I thought someone mentioned she had a poodle?

I am caregiver to my Mom. I would think the Sister would make sure Mom safe in house and ready for bed since Mom had mobility issues and it was late at night. Apple Watch removed which is probably a norm for getting ready for bed.
Im my dads caregiver. He has a samsung smart watch that has a fall alarm. I get him into bed at night, and then I take it off him and put it on charge. Its very possible NG did same, some models of FitBits also have fall detection.

Unless she could see them on the Ring doorbell and knew them.

IMO her being kidnapped does not mean she does not know the person.

Is that smashed glass on the doormat? Right by the front door in the video. Gravel?

This doesn’t feel like family to me. This feels like a thrill seeking psychopath who knows who this lady is and the amount of attention this kidnapping will get, hence the ransom letter to a news rag like TMZ (if that turns out to be real). I can’t think of another case quite like this honestly in modern times. Maybe others can.

does she have adult grandchildren? Savannahs kids are with Savannah and not adults. No idea If Annie or older brother have kids.

Her daughter dropped victim off at home after like 8:30pm. The daughter would most likely help Mom in bed and do whatever was necessary to get Mom in bed which I would think would include walking dog and making sure house safe and secure for the night. As caregiver to my Mom, age 85, who chooses to live alone, I make sure every night she is tucked in bed and safe, secure, and comfortable before seeing her the next morning. I wonder who was taking victim to church or if she would go alone. Weekly church seems more like with family members then solo, but maybe victim regularly attends church by herself.

I'm wondering if they found her car keys and/or checked the trunk of her car.
