Security camera footage automatically deleted? How long did it take investigators to check the cameras? I don't know what use a home security system would be if it didn't save the footage for 24 hours, at least.

Hopefully forensic recovery is successful.
From Brian Entin's video of the doorbell, it looks like to me it's a Google Nest doorbell (the battery version). You can see it's not hardwired to the existing doorbell. The Nest comes with only 3 hours of video events. You need to pay a subscription for more than that. It's possible they didn't have the subscription plan and only have limited video available.

Just catching up - I have to say I thought that presser was awful. There was absolutely no reason to call one as it provided zero information.

I feel for the Sheriff but he is looking out of his depth I think he needs a media spokesperson for future press conferences.

This for me HAS to be somebody familiar with the house - I think you would automatically as a random person for this large house to have a load of security cameras especially with a lone women in her mid 80s living inside.

These two facts together are deeply distressing.

The blood drops are larger than I thought. There appear to be smudges as well as droplets.

The Ring apparently being grabbed out so that the attack would not be so easily discovered, or allow the identification of the culprit(s) so swiftly.

It feels too real now and in an agonizing way.

The family appears to be very close-knit, so IMO as of now, I don’t think it’s a family member.

That does not preclude it being an outlier or hanger-on.

Last month, I watched a video where an FBI Profiler explained that if an elderly female who lives alone is raped and murdered, it's usually by a teenage son of a nearby neighbor. That keeps replaying in my mind right now. MOO

You’ve got to be kidding me:

A ransom note was sent to a local Arizona news station following the disappearance of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, the Pima County sheriff told CBS News.

The note, which the station received Monday and agreed not to report on, contained specific details about the home and what Nancy Guthrie was wearing that night, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said, although he would not confirm the accuracy of that information or the legitimacy of the note.

Investigators have analyzed the note and are taking it seriously, Nanos said.

He said the FBI reviewed the note and made the decision to share it with Savannah Guthrie. Authorities had hoped to keep the information from becoming public, but the note was obtained by TMZ, which reported on it before contacting the sheriff's office, Nanos said.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department had earlier said on social media it was aware of "reports circulating about possible ransom note(s)," adding, "Anything that comes in, goes directly to our detectives who are coordinating with the FBI."

Surveillance video from a home security system has yielded nothing so far, Nanos told CBS News. He said investigators believe the system may have been set to automatically delete footage after a short period of time, and they are now attempting to recover it through forensic means.

Wait, I thought no one knew what Nancy was wearing that night?

Didn't family drop her off at home? Presumably the last time they saw her, she would have been wearing the clothes she went to dinner in. And who knows what she put on to go to bed?! It's not a very good piece of 'proof' to use something no one can actually verify :(

Now I'm losing hope that the note is real. I bet the bitcoin address is real. But perhaps two separate crimes here, the abduction of Nancy and an opportunist trying to make money out of it?

A lot of people here are assuming things about Ring doorbells that are not true. Ring is not set to save recordings by default. You have to opt in to a subscription to have things saved. I know this because I set mine up last week. I only recently started paying for the subscription after years of just having one that only had real time data. I thought of it as a deterrent more than anything. Also, my elderly father didn’t like having recordings of his life saved because of privacy issues. Constant surveillance is something older folks aren’t always comfortable with. I’m no fan of LE, but the camera not saving anything does not mean there was negligence from LE.

IMO, the reason people want to know if she was walked into her house is because there has been much made that she can't walk more than about 50 feet by herself without assistance. I did see a picture of her with a cane and wondered if that had been found.
The front of the house is a circular drive. The family would have been right at the front door as she walked in. My guess they tried to get her as close to the door as possible since she had mobility issues. JMO

Also wondering about adult children’s ex partners who might hold a grudge? Or help who was dismissed?
But why? Ex partners wouldn't be in a will, if money is the motive....dunno. jmo

They have to take it seriously until it's ruled out.

They do. And if another news outlet received a note yesterday, they have had time to rule it out and have not publicly. In fact, they said today in the news conference that they had not received one yet at all.

If I was a kidnapper and I wanted to watch it play out on the news, after the news conference today,, who would you sent a note to?
TMZ would be my choice.

Do you know how close this area is to NG’s home? It’s still circling!
It’s actually pretty close to her house. It’s circling north of it but it’s nearby.

WTH? the 4th? Same note?
This is a troll IMO
If it's a troll or not legit, and the information about what she was or was not wearing and something damaged in the home was specific, wouldn't it be really easy for the SO/FBI to determine it was not legit?

They have had more then a day to do that, they have not.

I bet they’ll share to the FBI in a murder case.
My understanding is that there wouldn't be a name attached to the wallet at all. There are other ways of identifying the person tho. It often takes a bit of digital legwork tho. I dont know the specifics but its not as simple as the fbi requesting a name.

Well, if one of her nightgowns is missing we could guess she was wearing that. Her daughters (and others) likely have helped her pack, done laundry, know about her clothing...
