AZ Nancy Guthrie (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I thought Nancy needed specific medication every 24 hours or she would die. I read this. Is this untrue?
She has meds she needs that likely would cause her health to deteriorate over a period of time. There are very few meds out there that will cause death if they don’t get it immediately

This includes cardiac and diabetic medications. It has been confirmed what meds she was taking

Right! They must have had a vehicle...

And how many cars on the road between 1am and 4am?

Can we assume LE would/should have a vehicle caught on someone's camera by now?

Or are there bits of desert or something you could off-road into and stay out of sight?

(Sorry I've never been to Arizona so apologies if that's a stupid question!)
seems to me, if you are kidnapping some one, you cover your license plates if you even have them, and do not turn your lights on your vehicle -full moon Sunday so probably moon light enough to drive a distance in the dark

What is that psychological disorder where a person thinks someone on TV or a celebrity is sending you messages or talking to you? Could be a looney who was obsessed with Savannah.
Erotomania.

Very frightening case. Especially for those of us with older parents.

I know this has been asked and answered but I have been too busy to read much. Is it a gated community?
Not gated.

In this video from CBS it looks like - along with the blood - maybe the remnants of a bunch of flowers, or possibly a plant has been disturbed?

ETA: time in video 0.26
looks like roses, but FTD never delivers at 1-4 a.m.

I don't think this is the situation here...but I've known 2 separate cases of people i know, over the age of 80 being hacked in a bitcoin type scam. Both were instances where a hacker accessed bank accounts and demanded money sent through a bitcoin machine. Thankfully an observant convenience store employee stopped one of them from sending over $50,000! But one case the couple lost their life savings. The story these hackers tell is very convincing, then they threaten the victim. We suspect the hackers are overseas but who knows. If NG had been taken during the day I could see this scenario being a remote possibility. But I'm sure all financial records have been searched by now. As always just my opinion and random thoughts

Why am I getting "Jon Benet" vibes here?

She was last seen by family, 9:30 pm.
Reported missing by church friends? How many of your church friends have your daughter's phone number? Odd. Church friends call family 11:00 am
Family goes to check on her, and looks for her, calls police at 12:15 pm

Police come over, see her phone, wallet and car, and notice blood on walkway. And the doorbell camera is removed.

Wouldn’t the family have noticed that prior to 12:15? If your elderly mother was missing, she did not have her phone, wallet, and the car was there, Wouldn’t you have called the police with 15 or 20 minutes? If not five minutes?

My husband is 85, he uses a walker. I know where he is every minute. If I came home and he was gone, it wouldn't take me an hour and 15 minutes to call the police. He has his phone with him all of the time.

The blood is interesting, but if she was on blood thinners or even taking a baby aspirin a day, as many people her age do, a little bit of blood goes a long way. It doesn't take much of a cut for that blood. Have they even verified it is her blood?

I am trying to understand how they missed the blood at the door? That would be the signal for calling 911 immediately. When Police did arrive it was clear to them quickly that she was taken from the home and declared it a crime scene. I don't know what the delay in calling was unless times they arrived and called are not an hour apart in reality. I do not think this involves any family members.

It is definitely not a gated community. It is even more frightening to those of us that ARE older parents.

If they were smart they would do it this way. But something tells me these people aren’t really sophisticated criminals with much experience.

I only feel this due to them physically taking the ring camera. As if the video wouldn’t record and upload to the cloud within the app while they are removing it. Smart criminals would disguise themselves and not worry about wasting time with removing the ring camera. Even if they had her delete the video, I feel that LEA could still retrieve it somehow.
My guess is they are smart enough to not be found yet by the local LE or FBI. I'm sure we would have heard something by now if they found them? Maybe?

If the bitcoin address given has been used before, they may be able to use it to track the owner if they used an online wallet in the past. I believe all online wallets require verification of personal information and would be traceable. If they are using a new, never used bitcoin address and a cold storage (offline/no online wallet), then there is nothing to trace.

I know enough about bitcoin but by no means a pro lol

The email, a burner phone could have been used to set up and email, with or without a VPN, I am not sure how easy it would be to trace. Even using public wifi may help hide their personal information? But not sure. That would be pretty smart.

I know NG was as sharp as a tack given her age, but I think you can fool an elderly person easily, especially if you wake them up in the middle of the night. My 80ish parents were very security-conscious, but twice that I know of, they let perfect strangers with ulterior motives into their home. Thank God, I happened to be there one time. A pleasant looking woman came to the door making believe she knew my dad. I threw her out. If you have a good enough story, you can fool someone, especilly someone vulnerable.
maybe some one from her church whom she might instinctively trust but who might not be OK

Good point.

One might say that having such a number would be triple odd if the daughter is wealthy, beautiful, and in a visible, stalker prone profession.

One possible explanation could be that the number was not direct, but was some sort of "can be reached via..." type desk number. But even still, II would not be surprised if even say, the Today Shows admin section number is not readily passed out either.

No because they found evidence of a forced entry. She did not wander off.
Yeah. That was back on page 2 before any of that was released.

Delusions of reference, but any psychotic disorder can cause them.

You’re not wrong at all, however schizophrenia, and schizotypal disorder are the first and foremost where you’ll usually see it. Most severe in schizophrenia (though not all with schizophrenia will display this), with schizotypal closer behind

It’s semantics I guess on my end, which isn’t necessarily a part of this case lol

No. It’s “open range” as I call it. In the foothills, quiet, no gates or anything else. It’s open desert with house around vs the reverse

ETA: Does anyone here play mahjong, and if so, is it a game that can only be played with 4 people, or can 2 people play?

JMO.
Yes, I play Mah Jong, and you need a fourth to play.

Sometimes when there is an extra player, they play something called “betting the wall,” which is more or less betting on who will win that hand.

So the daughter and Nancy would have had at least two other people present.

In my heart and head, I do not think family was involved at all, except in the sense that I do think this relates to Savannah in some way.

Either an obsessed fan, or someone who just knew the connection between Nancy and a source of big money to pay a ransom.

She obviously had a circle of friends at church. I am sure they got together socially and she probably talked about her family including her daughter Annie Guthrie...they probably had met her. Phone numbers might have been exchanged for some reason or often easy enough to find online. They did not call Savannah.

Does anyone think this could be related to SG covering the Olympics, the national coverage and sometimes controversy when the world's current events are a little rocky? This is not political whatsoever. If I recall correctly, there have been protests etc at previous Olympics.
In my opinion I really don't think it's related to the upcoming games but just curious if anyone else was brainstorming and had similar thoughts

I have a battery ring doorbell, and that mount doesn't look like a ring. My ring system detects when the doorbell is removed, and that info is stored in the devices activity. I don't have inside cameras, but have motion detectors, so when it is on home & alarmed it alerts when someone is walking in the devices view and also stores that in activity. JMO
That camera is a Google Nest, not Ring

I believe the friend from church called SG's sister, not SG

If they were Facebook friends, which is very possible, they could call the family through Fb messenger.
