This year National Thank a Police Officer Day is Saturday, September 17th, 2022. While law enforcement needs our support and thanks every day of the year, this is a great day to go the extra mile and let local law enforcement know how much you appreciate them.

Thank a Police Officer Day is Coming Up
National Thank a Police Officer Day comes around every September. Here is how you can show your support to police officers in your area.
We’re told you can show your support by doing things like bringing goodie bags to your local department or even posting a blue line flag in your yard.
The organization’s founder tells us efforts big or small can go a long way. “It’s just about making a connection and hey maybe you get to know some of your local officers in your own town that you didn’t know before and wave at them when you’re driving around,” DSLE Founder Andrea Baumann said.
“So even though it’s something small, I think it just makes any human being feel good when they know they’re appreciated for what they’re doing.”

The third Saturday in September is designated as National Thank a Police Officer Day. Now in our fifth year, a dedicated group of community members from a variety of local organizations and businesses will recognize National Thank a Police Officer Day and our Rochester Police Department on September 17, 2022. We are very blessed to have such dedicated law enforcement professionals who are so committed to our citizens, businesses, and our community.

Boston started its first-night watch in 1638, New York and Philadelphia followed the suite in 1658 and 1700. As areas expanded, these night watches became less efficient.
