Image is everything for influencers. Right clothes. Right hair. Right zipcode. Right college pedigree. It is all about your image.
Yea, but being in a good school isn't necessary if all you want to influence is how to put on make up. She would have been just fine if she wasn't going to any school at all.

Good school gives credit with the young hip crowd. Education at cool school is part of image. USC is also a party school---one that has lots of pull among young people. Southern California, sunshine, warmth and beautiful people.

Sure, but

If she (and her parents) wanted to get to the stratospheric influencer levels of Kylie Jenner, she ( and parents) need Big League Money Connections.....

Like the billionaires that seem to haunt USC

One can never be too rich or too thin in Hollywood

IIRC, that was a high school counselor, questioned Dad since the counselor didn't know Olivia was involved in crew. Other people in the school overheard the exchange?

YMMV

Ok, that makes sense if it was a high school counselor. Thank you very much for clarification , Laughing. :)

I think the counselor did ask Olivia and then her dad went to the school and yelled at the counselor about it. That's my recollection.

Are you questioning that the girls did know or that they didn't?

In this particular family, I think the children knew. In other families, I don't think they did. In the complaint document, there are transcripts of recorded phone conversations of parents wanting to hide the scam from their kids.

Edited to add: it was the high school counselor.
Are you saying the girls did know about the scam? I thought they didn’t, then thought they did, now I’m questioning,... TIA

It hasn't been stated which children knew for sure - perhaps we'll never know. It's my hunch these two particular girls knew, but it's just that, a hunch.

I don’t know either, but you could be right.

Huffman was initially represented by Blair Berk, described by the Times as "Hollywood's top criminal defense attorney," but she will now be represented by Marty Murphy of Boston-based firm Foley Hoag.

Loughlin has hired a legal team that includes Sean Berkowitz, former head of the Justice Department's Enron task force.

Who Is Morrie Tobin? New Details About The Yale Dad Who Tipped Off The FBI About The College Cheating Scam Ring

Just who is Morrie Tobin? He’s a Los Angeles resident and financial executive, but his role in the scheme goes much deeper.

1. He was the initial tipster.
2. He set up the soccer coach.
3. His tips led to the arrest of Rick Singer.
4. Tobin is facing his own charges.
5. He’s been involved in finances for his entire career.
6. Lori Laughlin blames him.

Lori blames him?

Too funny.

Criminal thinking and entitlement mentality. Nothing is ever their own fault! The justification for criminal activity is epic.

In a statement, USC also said it has terminated two employees associated with the allegations in the admissions scandal.

“We also placed on leave a faculty member who was named in the federal indictment as a parent. This leave is a required procedural step in the process for evaluating the termination of tenured faculty. More employment actions may be possible as new facts come to light,” the school said.

It also said it is “in the process of identifying donations that may have been received in connection with the alleged scheme and will determine how best to redirect those funds to a non-USC organization that will benefit underserved students.”

I'm thinking the defense will be they were set up. But I'm not a high-priced lawyer so who knows what their position will be. Very curious!

Olivia Jade's former classmate describes 'super-elite' school with 'insane' expectations

The teen remembers being surprised Olivia could juggle her YouTube persona and a hefty amount of schoolwork at the all-girls school.

“I would have to get up at 6 a.m. every morning and I would leave school at 4 p.m. and then I would have six hours of homework,” she said, who recalls having a class with Olivia Jade.

“It made me think, ‘How is she doing this?' … I was like, 'How does she travel for YouTube? How does she have time to make YouTube videos? An arrangement with the school or something? It just didn’t make sense to me."

“Loughlin is extremely upset that Tobin blew the lid on the scheme.”

Of course her illegal and immoral activities are okay, but her getting caught is horrible!

It’s called consequences LL, suck it up.

"USC said that it had taken action that prevents students who may be associated with an alleged admissions scheme from registering for classes or acquiring transcripts."

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt on Twitter

That is a serious move - the students cannot continue as students while hold (hence the word, "hold," lol.)

If they are in the process of applying to another school, that would also be on hold, I assume, since they can't acquire their transcripts (plus, who can trust their transcripts at this point...what a mess).

Lori Loughlin hires former Department of Justice lawyer who prosecuted the infamous Enron CEOs | Daily Mail Online

Smh. She bought her kids way into USC, now she’s buying a defense team to keep her out of jail.
(I know, i know, this is standard course)

Her mask has completely slipped but I will give her credit for her acting skills, she sure seemed like a nice and decent person.
And with the masks off, she and her husband are not as pretty. Funny how that happens.

You'd think that admitting to it and then coming up with a "I got caught up in the pressure to succeed but I learned my lesson!" would be the best move, career wise. But I guess they aren't going that route.
