Lori Loughlin’s daughters could be banned from USC and its grounds forever for being 'disruptive' | Daily Mail Online

I don’t quite get why the atmosphere at USC is “hysterical” over this.

There are thousands of other students just trying to actually attend classes and labs, study, and pass exams
That does seem a bit absurd. Both of Loughlin's kids are gone and aren't likely to return anyway. I read that the USC student "council" was investigation other students, but that's not their job. They don't need to go on a witch hunt.

Apologies if this has already been posted.
Just wondering how many more families will end up getting charged/prosecuted.

More than 750 families benefited from college cheating scheme, ringleader says

It makes me wonder if this is just the "tip of the iceberg".

The real issue here, is the lack of ethics in the employees of USC, who took cash, to allow for this scandal to occur. They need to be terminated, with their pensions and benefits taken away, at the minimum. They should be charged with something, at the minimum, their jobs were part of public trust.

As for the parents and children, how deep does this go? For how many years? If they find graduates with USC degrees, should those be taken away? What other universities have been doing this same thing?

How Parents Are Robbing Their Children of Adulthood

These parents are referred to as snowplow parents.

Helicopter parenting, the practice of hovering anxiously near one’s children, monitoring their every activity, is so 20th century. Some affluent mothers and fathers now are more like snowplows: machines chugging ahead, clearing any obstacles in their child’s path to success, so they don’t have to encounter failure, frustration or lost opportunities.

Taken to its criminal extreme, that means bribing SAT proctors and paying off college coaches to get children in to elite colleges — and then going to great lengths to make sure they never face the humiliation of knowing how they got there.

The bribery scandal has “just highlighted an incredibly dark side of what has become normative, which is making sure that your kid has the best, is exposed to the best, has every advantage — without understanding how disabling that can be,” said Madeline Levine, a psychologist and the author of “Teach Your Children Well: Why Values and Coping Skills Matter More Than Grades, Trophies or ‘Fat Envelopes.’”

Snowplow parents have it backward, Ms. Lythcott-Haims said: “The point is to prepare the kid for the road, instead of preparing the road for the kid.”

Nothing particularly new in the article, basically gossip, but fwiw:

  • "Olivia Jade is super pissed at her parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli and reportedly blames them for the 'downfall of her career.'
  • Lori is currently in 'seclusion' and only communicating with lawyers and family."

Olivia Jade Is Out Here Blaming Lori Loughlin for the Downfall of Her Career

This is tragic. I don't see a happy family holiday in this home any time soon.

Not that they don't deserve it. Their values are flawed.

I have to admit, I'm wondering if the family is planting these stories in an effort to restore Olivia's vlogging career. Just a hunch.

Yeah. These people have the means to hire a PR firm to mold their images as victims and to manipulate media to re-invent Olivia’s career.

They are clearly cheats and hypocrites

I really do feel like Lori is going to pop up on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on her redemption tour. And people will probably tune in to watch.

Yep. Seems like they are working on building up sympathy for Olivia, bit by bit, to get back her career and sponsors.

They have to start this process now before the public forgets about her.

I don’t doubt it. Wonder if they’ve ever thought of adding a little humility into the mix. Then again, would it be genuine?

Lori is an actress and we have seen she can “act” as if she is ethical.

I don’t think Olivia knows what the word humble is nor does she know how to spell it unless it was on some really expensive designer shirt.

I think Isabelle is probably the one most damaged. I believe she completed a year of school, so she seems to have become a student. All the attention in the family has likely gone to the younger Olivia and she’s had to stand in her younger sister’s shadow. That certainly won’t get any better if there is an attempt to re-launch Olivia’s vlog.

On the flip side, Isabelle is less recognizable and not getting the brunt of the public attacks. She has a less distinct "look" and can probably go out in public, blend in, etc. Even her full name is not as instantly recognizable. Olivia was going as "Olivia Jade" and Isabelle was just kind of "Bella." I didn't even know their real last names before this. Mossimo is just kind of "Mossimo" (like Cher!) and Lori is "Lori Loughlin" and their family last name is actually the least of their names that stands out to me! If Isabelle ever tries to find a "real job," she could perhaps just keep her head down and survive.

Olivia could have a harder time because she had a more public persona. She's taking the brunt of this, fair or not. She had really played up the "glam life" that can attract the wannabes or social climbers - and that also brings out the schadenfreude in this situation. I think her sister may have a better chance of just keeping her head down and quietly moving on without being the face of this. I don't think her looks or her name are instantly recognizable if she can show any sort of humble, altruism, etc etc. I think her path back may be easier if she plays her cards right. (Speaking (imo) purely from a public image rehabilitation type standpoint/advising, not that her role is morally or ethically any better or worse than the others.)

'[Olivia] is really angry with her parents because she told them she did not want to go to college and she was pushed,' the source added. 'She has been passionate about her career and wanted to work and was doing well, but that wasn't enough. Her parents said she would have to juggle college and her career.'

Ah, yes, her career. Putting on make-up in front of a webcam and posting endless selfies on Instagram. Who wouldn't be upset.

I have a feeling the girls could give a flying rip if they are banned from campus. jmo

Is that even a punishment? Do they even know where it is...

Yeah, one of the recent articles said that (Isa)Bella actually liked school, and strongly implied that she was enjoying herself. Of course, that's not as scandalous and newsworthy as the total spoiled brat... and I can't remember precisely who was said to have uttered it, so might have been PR spin intended to make people feel sorry for her. But since as you point out, Bella apparently did manage to figure out college, I'm leaning towards "sincere" and away from "cynical ploy".

I wouldn't be surprised to find the Gianulli family's hired PR representation has decided this will sell headlines for them and help establish the "victim" plot line for Olivia. After all, we all know Americans love a redemption story. I get the feeling there is a real burning resentment in Loughlin about being exposed as a fake, a cheater, and a tax fraud, but not any sincere regret for the cheating and fraud, just for getting caught out.

Unlike the Macy-Huffman family who has been very quiet and not put themselves in the headlines.

hm........
