Couple of hours out the way of Lumberton.
CA death investigation is underway in west Charlotte after a woman's body was found under a bridge Wednesday morning.

Could also be connected to Ashanti Billie found a month prior and 7 miles away.

Did MSM ever report the identity of this body?

I'm sure they know but I can find no updated or recent articles confirming this information.

I wonder if this is Abby. How sad x

If it is, it's a helluva way to hide (in plain view??) a body. It surely will be sad for somebody's family & friends. SMH. I wonder how long before we know? Somebody needs to know asap. It never stops...

Are there any updates?

Are there any updates?

I haven't seen anything since mid-November -- an article about FBI joining the search for Abby. Then nothing more, AFAIK.

FBI offering up to $30,000 for information related to deaths of three Lumberton women

"The FBI is offering a reward of up to $30,000 for information regarding the circumstances that led to the deaths of Christina Bennett, Rhonda Jones and Megan Oxendine, according to a press release from the FBI Charlotte Division."

The article doesn't mention Abby but the FBI is now offering $30,000 for any information about the deaths of the three woman who were discovered in the same area where she was last seen.

Summary of presser (sorry about the ALL CAPS. I'm at work and have to use them in one of our computer programs and I forgot to turn them off.)

WE DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A CRIMINAL MATTER BUT THE DEATHS ARE BEING CONSIDERED SUSPICIOUS DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF WHERE THE BODIES WERE LOCATED. THERE ARE SIMILARITIES IN ALL THREE CASES. WE ARE STILL WORKING WITH THE MEDICAL EXAMINER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF DEATH.

WE ARE ASKING FOR ANYONE WHO CAME IN CONTACT WITH THESE THREE WOMEN TO COME FORWARD. WE BELIEVE MEMBERS OF THIS COMMUNITY HAVE INFORMATION THAT CAN HELP US DETERMINE WHEN AND WHERE THEY WERE LAST SEEN ALIVE.

WE WILL NOT ELABORATE ANY FURTHER TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE INVESTIGATION.

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION SHOULD CALL THE FBI CHARLOTTE OFFICE @ 704-672-6100 AND PRESS OPTION #2.
NO INFORMATION IS TOO SMALL. LET THE FBI DECIDE IF THE INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT OR NOT.

I'm very happy to see the FBI taking over the investigation of the three Lumberton women. Is there a thread dedicated to them? I couldn't find one?

These deaths are absolutely suspicious. They were all concealed and we know that at least one was restrained and naked. Why didn't the local police try to pull footage from nearby convenience stores or smoke shops or known hangouts of these women. Everybody in town knew these ladies, and by town I mean East Lumberton. In fact, there is a person who should be shaking in his boots along with a few of his employees, but local police don't seem to care one way or the other.

Also, please remember that Cynthia Jacobs also disappeared, and she was in the same sort of position as these three. She was drug addicted and trafficked. I am going to hope that if they find out what happened to Megan, Christina, and Rhonda, they might also find out what happened to Cynthia.

Abby's disappearance is not fully related to these other cases, the only exceptions being that her case was mishandled from the beginning by local investigators and there is a drug component. These drug dealers and their minions down in Lumberton will kill for any paltry amount of money and they don't care who knows their business because they will kill them too.

Thanks for your post, CasesNeedClosing -- you sound like you know the Lumberton area -- it's my home town, although it's been a number of years since I lived there. I'm sure the local city & county LE staffs are not very big, and somehow it seems that other cases must have some preference over the deaths of these poor women. The women may or may not have been pictures of a perfect society, but there were indeed human beings who were trying to get along and survive in the ways they knew. It angers me, but it may be LE has very little to go on -- people near the area or those who may have known them may be afraid of giving any info to LE.

And I haven't seen a word about Abby since October. I hope she is okay and is not involved with drugs any more, but if that were so, I think she would have contacted her mother. It's very worrisome, and I'm afraid she may have come to harm somehow or other. Trying to think positive thoughts for her and justice for those poor other women as well. Fingers crossed.

And one more thing:

Welcome to Websleuths, CasesNeedClosing!! We're glad you are here!!

Welcome casesneedclosing! Would that person who should be shaking in his boots happen to have a first name that starts with O? Also, do you know anything about Twister’s disappearance? I have a line on someone possibly involved.

Aw thanks borndem!

I am sure you are correct that the LE down there have more than enough to do, and it probably isn't fair to ever accuse them of not caring about these poor ladies. I hope I don't do that. If they are in fact overwhelmed with work, I guess it's a problem that cannot be easily solved since more officers cost more money, which that area truly doesn't seem to have right now.

You didn't come across that way at all -- we're all just worried & frustrated that we have heard no more about the investigation. Other than the "where she was last seen," that seems to be all we've heard specifically about her. We have seen where the other women's bodies were found, but that's all we know about them. Just sad, but we have surely seen it before on here, again & again & again. Let's just hope that something happens soon to solve these cases. :(

I hope the FBI is able to make progress and find Abby quickly. As a local, I have been uneasy since the three women were found earlier this year. This area has lots of missing people and in 2009, Lisa Hardin and Michelle Driggers were found dead very close together. I can't help but wonder if they are all connected. I pray for Abby's safe return.

Thanks for your post -- you brought up some good points & sad ones, too. And I'm hoping for the best for Abbie, too, but there have been so many days since she was last seen.

And, also,
