“We can confirm there is no active shooter on the campus of Forsyth Tech. There is still an active investigation on the campus. There are no other threats to any other schools in the area,” police said.

It is currently unclear if there are any injuries or fatalities.

While officials have confirmed there is no active shooting, the situation remains fluid and two male suspects remain at large.

The suspects are described as armed and dressed in gray and black hoodies, reported WXII12.


Multiple law enforcement teams are on the scene and drones have been sent up into the air in the search for the armed suspects while nearby schools are also sheltering in place.

Darius Taylor, a student at Forsyth Tech, told Fox8 that he was in a studio on the first floor of the Strickland Center when shots were fired somewhere in the vicinity of that building on the campus.''

''WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An 18-year-old student from Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy allegedly had a gun and shot himself on the campus of Forsyth Tech Community College Thursday, according to police.

The Winston-Salem Police Department posted on Twitter that a shooting was under investigation just before 11 a.m. Officers were at the scene working on clearing the scene at the main campus near Miller Street.

During a news conference at 5 p.m., the Winston-Salem Police Department revealed that police learned that shots were fired from a restroom on the second floor of the Strickland Building on campus. Police found a man with a gunshot wound, and he was taken to the hospital.


Police then said the man was a student from Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy, and he had shot himself. WSPD said investigators were working to learn if it was an accidental or intentional shooting.''
