I agree. This is just unreal! I live in Wake County, NC, so I'm not too far from these murders.

I'm new to this thread, so I intend to catch up by reading the previous posts. I just don't understand why this was kept so secret for so long. It is truly a horrific situation.

It really is Prancy. There is no telling how many more women could be victims of this guy. There are still two known missing now in Rocky Mount, but there could be others like Roberta who were never reported missing. Plus this guy lived in other counties as well.

The suspect is only charged so far with 1 or 2 of the murders, right? Is it common for a African American serial killers? I just don't recall reading about many.

He is charged with one so far but expected to be charged with second one soon and suspected in 6, I think, but most of the evidence is circumstancial.

For anyone following the case...I think they may suspect a body by my house on Leggett road. The sheriffs department are on four wheelers searching the area. They have been out there since 6:30am.

13?? Seriously?!? How that hasn't been all over the national media is beyond me - or this case either, for that matter. Are we really that jaded as a society?

i have seen some national coverage on the 13 women found in one grave here in ABQ but not much...they managed to ID more than half of them. But what i found so terrible is that locally, we did not know they were missing until someone stumbled over the grave by mistake...because they weren't in the "right" group that media loves to write about...

I am in between a rural area and town. A man bought a lot of land in front of my house and drained the two ponds to build a rock quarry (?) So they are doing a lot of digging over there. I wonder if maybe they found something....its only two miles or maybe three from where one of the women disappeared and smack dead in the middle of where the other bodies were found.

The murdered women and man in Rocky Mount are just like Anthony Sowell's victims in Cleveland, treated with less dignity than trash because the man who brutally destroyed them knew that so many of us see prostitutes, or drug addicts, or even sadly the poor or black as forgettable and "expendable." He knew, and he used it as the worst possible weapon against them.

Thank you Zinc. I don't know if its because its local or because I feel like the world has forgotten about these women, but I am fixated on this case and plan to follow it to the end.

Until Monday, investigators and prosecutors had been tight-lipped about what evidence they might have against Pittman in Nicholson&#8217;s death or if they believed he might have had ties to the other murders.

According to the search warrant filed in Halifax County this month, authorities relied on DNA evidence to link Pittman, a registered sex offender, to Nicholson&#8217;s murder. His semen was found on her remains, the search warrant said.

A few weeks after Nicholson was killed, a trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol reportedly found Pittman the morning of April 25 in a ditch off Seven Bridges Road sleeping in his car. Pittman had dirt on his boots, the search warrant said, and his pants were unzipped.
