As someone who was once a little girl also from North Carolina that first saw Asha's missing person's poster by the register in a local burger joint in 2000, I am beyond thrilled to finally see so much momentum in this case! Holy moly indeed! Let 2025 be the year we find Asha!!!!

It sounds like the girls did whatever their dad told them to do when they were teens. I'm sure he thought he was protecting his daughter but there is ZERO excuse for doing allegedly what they did. I pray they find her remains if she is deceased

''LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Property records confirm a connection between property searched Friday in the case of 9-year-old missing girl, Asha Degree, and a person whose name has come up before in the Degree case.

On Friday, Queen City News was there as investigators searched an old, abandoned school at the corner of Highway 274 and NC-182 in Lincoln County.

Detectives and SBI agents wrapped up their search Friday, not revealing what they found.''

''Neighbors believe detectives are getting closer to finding Degree.
“Her family can have peace and Cleveland County, and the rest of the counties around here can have peace,” said Owens.''

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office announced the increased reward, totaling $75,000 on Friday
From the article -

“Investigators said a hair sample found in Degree's backpack in 2001 led them to the home on Cherryville Road. David Teddy, the attorney for the property owner who he identified as Roy Dedmon, said the investigation would soon reveal a now-deceased individual was responsible for what happened to Asha. Teddy declined to elaborate further on why he believed that.”

Sounds like we know what the Dedmon family’s defence will be. Blame the now-deceased former resident.

I would imagine the increase of the reward would be an attempt to find an eye witness as a ‘smoking bullet’, so to say. Even a small increase to the reward money (and thus getting the amount in the media again) could go a long way on loosening some lips, what with the current cost of living…
Have to think that LE still need something further before bringing charges. They’re likely still be processing evidence collected from the recent searches but if there was any super major finding (ie, remains), then an increase to the reward money probably wouldn’t be necessary just yet.

All imo

In a video posted last week on social media by the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, investigators talk about wanting to find answers and bring Asha home for her family and for all those who loved her.

"It's everybody's goal in the community to find out what happened to Asha, to bring her home. With the tight knit community we all want the same resolution," said Lt. Jordan Bowen.

They need to keep this in the media as much as possible.

For the second time this year, the reward has been increased for information in the 25-year-old case of a missing Shelby fourth grader.

Gov Josh Stein announced June 25 that the state is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Asha Degree, 9.

The total reward is now at $100,000.

In May, the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office announced an increase up to $75,000 in honor of National Missing Children's Day.
