CLIMAX, N.C. — An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday for a 1-year-old girl in Randolph County, who is believed to be with her mother.

The Randolph County Sheriffs Office is searching for Ava Lee Pierce. Pierce is described as white with brown hair and blue eyes. She is approximately 3 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 20 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white shirt with black pants, and she has a birthmark on the right side of her abdomen.



Roxanne Michelle Cromer Parson, 34, the girl's mother, is believed to be her abductor. Parson is described as a white female who stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes and "sores on her face," according to officials.

The two were last seen at 3777 Benny Lineberry Road. Their direction is unknown.

Randolph County: AMBER Alert issued for missing 1-year-old child

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing one-year-old child: Ava Lee Pierce. Officials say Roxanne Parson is suspected of taking the child.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on Monday, around 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to Benny Lineberry Road in Climax in reference to a missing person.

Deputies say Matthew Pierce reported that his 1-year-old child, Ava, was taken by her mother on December 1. Parson was later identified as Ava's mother.

"Parson's parental rights had been terminated. A warrant for arrest for felony abduction of a child has been issued for Parson," a news release said

Ava has a medical condition that requires medication which she does not have, deputies say. Ava is described as a white female with brown hair and blue eyes. She is approximately 2 feet tall and weighs 20 pounds. Ava was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants.

The sheriff's office describes Parson as a 34-year-old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes and sores on her face.

Oh no. Shes already been gone almost a week. I wonder why dad waited that long to call 911? Its being reported shes 3 foot 8 inches tall and in the article it says shes 2 feet tall. Does either of those seem correct??

ETA. She also takes medicine which seems even more strange to wait so long

This case stinks. Ava needs in her life someone to stand by her. Why dad waited over a week before calling the police? Roxanne has no parental rights, Ava needs her meds, why waiting? What is going on in here?
