NC - Boy, 11, dead, mom critical, found in same hotel room where couple died in April

This case is being showcased on a show on abc. The blame is being placed on a faulty pool heater emiting carbon monixide with a broken pipe being propped up with a motel bucket. The room was recieving fumes directly. So sad.

Unfortunately. Thhe medical examiner had the toxicology report showing the elderly lady was killed by carbon monixide but did not pass along the information.

A state board has suspended the license of a contractor who did faulty work on a pool heater later found to be the source of leaking carbon monoxide that killed three guests at a Boone hotel... The board previously suspended the license of another heating contractor...

“There were so many people who didn’t do their jobs. That doesn’t make any of them less accountable,” Jeannie Williams said Wednesday...

The latest findings may help bolster the defense of Damon Mallatere, the hotel’s former manager, who faces three counts of manslaughter in the deaths.

I stayed in this hotel for a convention in March of 2013; I even spent a few hours swimming in the pool. When I first heard about the deaths in June, I thought it was a creepy coincidence. Hearing the rest of the story, however . . . Holy crap. Sad, terrifying, totally preventable.
