Have YOU watched MTV lately? Honestly, its not even that bad anymore ive actually seen worse on FOX and ABC (private practive, greys, bachelor, those random comedy shows) Have you ever watched an episode of The Hills, Laguna Beach, Newport Harbor, Life of Ryan...which are the most played shows...THEY BARELY SHOW KISSING...seriously.

I agree. I think the dating shows they have are pretty lame and obnoxious though. Although they are also 100% scripted. The Hills and Newport Harbor especially are pretty tame. For everyone who complains about a show like Cribs, I want to point out that Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous wasn't all that different.

IMO, Fox is much, much worse than MTV. VH1 - the only sexual shows I know of are Rock of Love and I love New York. And honestly, I don't think any kid aspires to be any of the people depicted on those shows. If anything they probably use it as a guide of how not to be. The reasonable people who watch are laughing at the unintentional comedy, while the crazies who do worship these people are probably misguided and headed down the wrong track anyway.

Exactly, i totally agree.

K show the worst one. How about ALL the other ones that are not NEARLY as bad as that one? Plus that one is brand new & stupid.

I think it all goes to how these kids are raised. My daughters were quiet and shy when they were younger, then their dad remarried and his wife had 2 daughters,my daughters changed big time. The step sister were rude, violent and wild. My daughters started acting out and like them. it took me time to get my daughters back to being respectable and now they can step back and see how wrong the step sisters are. These girls were always threatening people ,fighting, attacking the adults in the house especially the girls' dad sneaking out. then they tried to pull some crap like I'm from Chicago I can fight crap those girls didn't live there that long, they moved her at 10 and 12. Needless to say I saw their mom in action her abuse of people and the girls the way she treated my daughters father ,my daughters and in the end how she abandoned her daughters in their teens spoke volumes(she just recently punched her pregnant daughter in the stomach). The girls are the way they are because of how they were raised. Some men believe forcible sex on their wives is not rape, but it is and if this is what these kids are around no matter income, what they watch on tv or whatever they are going to think it's right and somethings may confirm what they have seen, heard and had to live through

P.S. My daughters think MTV is stupid and prefer fuse and the music only channels my son likes the cartoons and music only channels

I dont necessarily blame the media because I hate the though of it affecting our kids that much since so many people do not censor tv shows but I hate how movies and tv has changed. Even kids movies are bad anymore. We rented Shrek 2 and after watching it first (which I almost always do) I could not believe there was cussing in it and sexual innuendo that would probably go over kids head but why add it?? In my opinion it shows lack of a good storyline and plot when they have to add sexual innuendo and swearing to a kids movie :slap: I dont watch any regular shows in front of my daughter, they are always tivo'd and watched after she goes to bed. Granted I only watch 3 total once a week but our tv if on stays on nickelodeon and disney channel. I cant believe that they played "IT" stephen king movie on the fox family channel on a weekday morning.

I was not aware about sex at that age. I knew a little but hardly enough to know that much. My husband was aware of sex at 8, he did not lose his virginity till much later thank goodness but he knew what it was and he only knew by friends since he hadnt even seen it before.

A great website to view movies in their entirety about scenes and reviews is www.commonsensemedia.org

Getting back to the story, omg that poor girl she is going to need years of therapy. I have been raped before myself and all I can say is thank goodness it wasnt my first experience of sex, it would have messed me up for life.

Thanks, Thankfully karma got him back and he is six feet under. Some other person saw fit to take him out I guess three months later. Thankfully I never had to go to trial for it. I didnt think it would help with the pain of it but it did.

I still am funny about going out after dark and always lock up the house and I never answer the door when its my daughter and me by myself unless someone has called me to tell me they are coming over. A little paranoid maybe but it makes me feel safer and more secure. In this day and age you have to be a little paranoid.

I know that boys are interested in sex early but 8 and 9???? My son is almost 9 and still thinks girls are gross. I cant even imagine.

Exactly... and back to the subject of the thread! Why were they not playing with trucks and bikes, but raping a little girl?
Something was MAJORING wrong in that enviroment! and let me tell you... it was a lot more than something on a TV!

I hate Shrek. I hate it that there was three of them!

I feel horribly for this poor little girl too. To have this done to her at all, at any age, is a tragedy. And to have it done to her by male peers? Just blows my mind.

Movies are changing and I hate how disney movies which use to be the safe ones in regards to that are changing too. You have to be much more vigilant nowadays.

This isn't caused by television unless kids are exposed to 🤬🤬🤬🤬, lots of domestic violence, neglect, sexual abuse themselves, and being sexually acted out on by other kids from a young age. If the eleven year old is the ringleader, he's probably been sexually acting out on other kids and the kids who did this with him for years now.

I think this opinion is right on target, txsvicki!

I know what you mean about the movie industry - our 11 year old girl begged to go see "Good Luck Chuck". Her Dad said OK. He saw previews and thought it was just going to be a funny movie about a clutsy girl. I AM THE ONE who had to kill the fun by telling him it was Rated R and that there were sexual positions and nudity. I only know that from seeing an interview with the actor who had to go through all those nude women in all those takes for sexual positions and they were talking about it on The View or something!

Anyway, she almost got away with it, and mr. zig knows he must be more careful before saying yes.

For God's sake - every morning I see SEX on the morning shows. I see it on prime time family shows.

It's out of control.

If we are a nation of such bad parenting, than the responsible thing FOR THE GOOD OF ALL AMERICANS, is for the media to regulate itself and if it does not, then they can suffer the fate. It's just TV and movies people. It will not harm our country if we can't see those shows and the ill content. Besides, if you want it, you should be able to buy it. Now, if it is a political show and someone wants to ban the content to foster propoganda, that's different. Losing "I Love NY" is not and never will be a tragedy imo.

Our forefathers wanted to protect free speech so that people would never be afraid to speak out against the government and about political issues. The fact that this "right" spills over into 🤬🤬🤬🤬 is just disgusting to me. I think we need to consider the children in our country and focus on what is best for all Americans, not just the ones who need to see sex all the time.
