GUILTY NC - Brittany Smith, pregnant, found deceased, Wendell, 4 Feb 2021 *arrests*

Nothing official, that I’ve seen.

The family went to the river where they found the suitcase, but Sheriff Baker would not let them near the body, which is understandable because they were still processing the scene.

I don’t want to be morbid, but she’s been reported missing less than a week and we’ve had cold temperatures at night so it seems that they would call in the family to identify the body.

MOO
From one of the articles I just posted:
The body, located near the 5400 block of Allen Drive, was reportedly unidentifiable. Officials also did not reveal whether the victim was male or female.
*A suitcase? Pregnant? Unidentifiable? Oooh, no...

I sure hope it wasn't anyone she trusted and loved that did this horrible thing to her and her baby.

This just keeps getting worse. I wonder if family could identify the suitcase. I know that's not good enough but at least they will know they're barking up the right tree. IMO.

adding: I was wondering why they said they couldn't tell if it was a male or female body. I was thinking " well, she's pregnant that should give it away" Then it hit me. UGH!
ADDING AGAIN: Can you imagine what that poor person who found the body saw? Prayers to him as well. That will scar for life. IMO

Thank you!

Things are slowly coming in and it explains my question why the family couldn’t go to the morgue to see if it is Brittany, but yikes! This doesn’t sound good at all. Either it’s been there too long to be Brittany or ........I don’t even want to think about it.

It seems that other LE announce pretty quickly if found remains can be related to a particular missing person (ie Suzanne Morphew and the Sweet West Boys). Sheriff Baker is a somewhat new Sheriff to Wake County, and I feel like he tends to keep things close to the vest, but they’ve got to be able to at least be able to tell if this is someone who’s been there a few days, or a few weeks or months.

I don’t recall reading when the last day the man in the house saw her. The news stated that family members reported her missing. Why didn’t her beloved boyfriend report her missing? I wonder how long she’s really been missing.

MOO

RE: The question of is this body a man/woman etc.

Body found in suitcase near Neuse River :: WRAL.com

Sheriff Gerald Baker said, "It's not every day that you find what could be someone's body in a suitcase."

He indicated in an interview just after 1 p.m. that the body was that of a woman, but authorities have not released an identity of the person or the cause of death.
This was reported yesterday.

After body found in suitcase, Wake County deputies search backyard where missing woman lived | CBS 17

More than 24 hours have passed since a woman’s body was found inside a suitcase along the Neuse River, and the Wake County Sheriff’s Office has yet to identify the body or release a cause of death.
In the hours following the grisly discovery Wake County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant on a Wendell home.
According to Williams, deputies weren’t interested in what is inside of his home but focused outside where 28-year-old Brittany Simone Smith, who is missing, and her boyfriend Cody Page had been living inside a tent for months.

I'm shocked its taking this long to AT LEAST determine if it's her. If it isn't her then holy crap, who is it and where is Brittany. IMO

Earlier, I saw an interview with the man who let Brittany & boyfriend live in a tent in his backyard. Is that man a suspect? Weird story he told if you ask me.

As of right now, No, he isn't. He was just someone trying to help out.

Thanks, is her boyfriends whereabouts known?
Not anything from MSM. A lot of "crap talk" going on but nothing concrete from MSM.

There was a small segment covering this case on Gray's show from tonight, starting at 37:30.

And here's a short news segment. I couldn't find the video of his presser on Youtube, but if I come across it, I'll post. I'm sure some people in Europe can't see the links that contain the video.

Although authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the woman pending final autopsy reports from the State Medical Examiner’s Office, Baker said the family of the missing woman was reportedly at the scene where the body was found.

"I can't sit here and tell you that's what's in there right now. We have not gotten to that point," Baker said.

"We have information to believe it”, Baker added during a media briefing, ABC 11 reported.

Law enforcement are in the process of bringing in persons of interest for questioning, however no suspects have been named as of yet.

While there are no suspects in custody at this time, the sheriff indicated that “We have people of interest. An investigation is a process of elimination. We’re going to find out who’s responsible because these things just don’t happen,” according to WECT. The outlet wrote that multiple people were escorted from the scene where the body was found for questioning.

Well, he appears to be around. I can’t remember which clip, but one of the clips which is taken in Wendell, at the location of the tent, shows BF Cody showing up, hugging the Dale Williams, who lives in the house and another man. According to the news person, Cody hugged the men, then drove away.

Dale stated that it couldn’t have been Cody because he didn’t have a car and didn’t drive. Well, he was able to get a ride from someone to get back to the house. MSM stated that he “drove” away, but I don’t trust their accuracy in distinguishing between “drove” and “rode”.

It has also been stated that family members reported her missing. Why didn’t Cody? I’m wondering if we really know how long she’s been missing.
