RUMOR: family says he suffers from mild dementia. He could have been on a road trip and got confused. Let's pray he is found soon and safe. IMO

I was wondering about that, but it wasn't mentioned by LE - I think it is most helpful when facts of the case are shared transparently by families and told to the public when someone is missing, but I understand some families don't want the person embarassed. But mild dementia - if you've dealt with it - well, what they call mild can be pretty concerning. JMO

I don't see an address listed anywhere so we can't look at a map. No idea if there are bodies of water other than the French Broad river, a dog park, a nature preserve or anything he could have gotten lost at. It can be hilly and somewhat mountainous in the Asheville area. What has the weather been like, raining, cold, slippery roads?

It has been unseasonably cold the last three days. Especially at night (daytime temps do come up).

The voter registration website says he lives at 331 Fairview Rd. in Asheville. That’s not super close to the Biltmore Estate and its not easy to get onto the estate by car without passing gates. He would have to climb fences and that doesn’t seem likely. IMO

The articles about his disappearance say he is from Shelby, North Carolina and I wonder if perhaps he was headed there (SE of Asheville). If he tried to go the “old way“ it might have been confusing because the roads have changed. And he might have ended up on mountain roads (vs 4-lane roads).

There are endless ways to get lost in this part of the state if you are confused or not sure where you are going. And yes, there are numerous lakes and rivers.

So sad. I’m hoping for a good outcome.

ETA - Former coworkers are also reporting that he worked in the high school at Robbinsville. That would be a mountainous drive that would take awhile. With large lakes. Think: the movie “Nell.”

I should have mentioned in my previous post that we have had two rounds of severe weather in western North Carolina during the time Mr Poole has been gone. It’s usually a county by county thing but many areas saw very heavy rain, hail, and high winds. Those conditions can make it treacherous to drive in this area.

Many of the short term rentals have been closed down the last month or so. But hopefully he found a cabin or other place to stay.

He looks like such a friendly man. I looked at the satellite view around his place. There’s really not much for him to get lost in. No large bodies of water by the roads. No large parks nearby for his car to be lost in. Just the mountains like someone mentioned. There’s enough businesses in the area that he should have been picked up on a camera. That would point them in a specific direction.
