The FBI, SBI, and Sheriff's Offices in Burke, Watauga, and Johnson County, TN are all involved in the case.

Johnson County detectives found this crime scene where they located foot prints from the suspects and Edmondson. But the trail went cold.

Four people are now behind bars for the kidnapping and more charges could be coming soon for others.

The sheriff says they have two disturbing videos of Edmondson being beaten prior to his disappearance.

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) — Investigators scoured property where one of the Burke County kidnapping suspects lived Monday as the search continues for 30-year-old Carlton Lamaar Edmondson.
The fourth person arrested in connection with Lamaar’s kidnapping waived extradition to Tennesee Monday. James Combs, 30, faces charges including aggravated kidnapping, and extortion.

Combs was arrested Saturday in Watauga County on a fugitive warrant from Tennessee. He was charged with conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping and given a $250,000 bond.

Michael Stacey May, 39, waived extradition on Friday. May was taken to the Watauga County Jail and held on an extradition warrant out of Tennessee. He is charged with conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping.

Authorities say the “intense investigation” involves several counties in both Tennessee and North Carolina. They did not say what evidence led to May’s arrest.

Man, I swear so called “journalists” really get my goat!...Duh! Is it really any wonder, that when Leigh Littleton was doing the perp walk, and a reporter shouted out in her direction (likely with a microphone shoved in her face or at her), “if Edmondson was still alive or if she had anything to say to the family”, she “remained silent”...*SHEESH*...she’s just been arrested, and is perp walking, doesn’t know this reporter from adam...I mean, it’s NOT like she (or any suspected criminal) is going to start yelling answers back..*shakes head*...just a sad sack attempt at sensationalism!...I mean it’s one thing to be sitting down with detectives in a formal interview, being asked similar questions, and refusing to answer LE’s direct questions, and at that time..’choosing’.. to remain silent when she could give LE vital information as to Edmondson’s location...quite another to be accosted while trying to walk with your hands cuffed and being lead by a stranger into custody...

Just to make it clear, I am NOT defending that ‘suspected’ she is...but rather, I’m condemning the carp ‘journalism’...which makes it seem like she was refusing to disclose information about the case...*sighs*...*shrugs*

Fifth person arrested in Edmondson kidnapping case

A fifth person has been charged in the case of the kidnapping of Carlton Lamaar Edmondson, according to the Watauga County Sheriff's Office.

Valerie Ann Dollar, 24, 8958 N.C. 105 S., Boone, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant from the state of Tennessee on Wednesday at the Watauga County Detention Center.

"The investigation is still ongoing and all leads are being followed to find Edmondson's whereabouts. Additional arrests and charges are pending," JCSO spokesperson Tricia Morefield said in a statement on Wednesday.

[h=2]Sixth Arrest Made In Burke County Kidnapping Case[/h]

There has been another arrest in the case of a missing Burke County man.

The Watauga Democrat reports that late Wednesday, the Johnson County Tennessee Sheriff's Department arrested Brittany Michelle Arnold, age 25, of Simp Branch Road, Mountain City, and charged her with aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping. According to the report, Johnson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Tricia Morefield said Arnold was issued a $65,000 secured bond.

This makes the sixth arrest in the case of Carlton Lamaar Edmondson, missing from the Valdese area of Burke County since January 19th.

You should definitely let Arron Lewis in Beverly Carters case know that. He told a journalist during his perp walk he did it because she was a rich broker who worked alone. She testified at trial.

This poor guy!!! I'm hoping he was the one that caused all that bruising on dudes face when he was fighting back. So many females! That's unusual, to me. I would think one of them will have a heart and give his location. They were looking for $700 but now they need to look for $250,000 to get out of jail. Makes sense. Smart folks.

..Never said it doesn’t happen, but the likelihood is low..& my comments were more about how the journalist seemed to be twisting the reality of the situation just to suit his/her own narrative for increased sensationalism...I’ve got no hesitation in stating.. there’s always that one guy/girl in every bunch..[emoji849]..🤷🏻..I’ve never seen a ‘spontaneous’ confession..But, like everyone I’ve seen the narcissistic publicity hog..not surprising though they tend to be the bigger media circus cases...

As to ‘giving up the location’..I’ve a theory or two on that..(drafted will have 2Pull & post it later, too much text here now)...But, someone did give up “a location”, as LE stated they searched the area where he was last reportedly ‘seen’ (by at least one perp)..and they saw evidence of them (the perps & possibly Edmondson) having been there, but no sign of Edmondson himself..(& obviously, LE didn’t locate him during their search)..

Hope he is somewhere, surviving, and makes it back alive to be reunited with his loved ones again!...

I totally understood what you were saying and I agree. I guess they all try in case they have an "Arron Lewis" on their hands. Some of those criminals can't help but to flap their gums.

and money wiring service...LE advised the public to immediately write down the calling number/date time & then hang up & contact their relative to ensure he/she was all right..and then to call the Police...

I would imagine that even if a HOAX..that it would still be a Gut🥊...AND, with regards to THIS CASE, my heart really does go out to Edmondson’s relative that got the ransom call... had to hear Edmondson getting beaten..and hear Edmondson say..”they’re going to kill me”...only to be unable to pay all of the ransom at once..&..when explaining that, to have the Criminal/Kidnapper respond back..’that’s all I need to hear’...and to be hung up on..with that being the last he heard from either the Kidnappers or Edmondson..and now with Edmondson Missing and for so long so it’s looking less and less likely he will be located healthy.. every day..that’s gotta be a special kind of tormented he**...poor man..(& Poor Edmondson obviously)...

I know if something like that happened w/any of my relative, I’d be up a creek w/o a paddle regardless of amount..(some ppl cant just hop up & go run around even in emergency situations)..so unnecessary & over such a paltry amt.., not paltry for everyone, but in the grand scheme of what a life is worth..but then, I’ve sadly seen cases where people died over $2-$10USD or less...shameful what a life is worth these days..(not meant monetarily)

For clarity: I NEVER SAID EDMONDSON’s Case was a CYBER SCAM nor FAKE!...YES, EDMONDSON’s CASE IS A REAL KIDNAPPING/ASSAULT CASE..

No clue how you even came up with that from what..I said, hence my “Side Note & Warning” (side note means = a marginal note on the side, in other words, a little off to the side of what is being discussed, and generally has similarities or bearing to the topic but sometimes not)..because there are other cyber criminals perpetrating cyber kidnappings currently that are happening where they are calling Ppl based on their over populated w/every detail of their life info social media sites & then just saying their relative was kidnapped..& as LE advised, write down the #, hang up & immediately to contact their relative to verify wellness..and after that to call LE..BUT, I said that regardless, real or fake, it has to be a gut punch for anyone to get that type of call..(the kidnapping scenario & phone call & ransom immediate demand of cash be sent.. being the mutual similarity)..and w/o speaking to their actual relative there’s never any way for someone to ‘know’ for sure either way..again, a hellish gut punch..& in Edmondson’s case..(just to be unnecessarily clear)..IN EDMONDSON’s CASE AS IT WAS A REAL KIDNAPPING/ASSAULT CASE..it has to be especially tearing his relative apart considering the turn things took, because he was simply unable to pay the ransom amount all at once (**I’m also wondering if that inability was due to LE advice & monitoring of calls??...), either way..*sheesh*.. that’s gotta be H3** on a conscience..

To anyone who may have believed otherwise, I was not being defensive, I was simply attempting to be exceedingly clear & I cap’d for emphasis as bolding wasn’t a copy & select formatting choice..and as I did not wish that same (from my view, out of left field) presumption to somehow propagate & to spread to other commenters later/in the future..as it happens sometimes w/Ppl’s posts..(that I had remotely made such a statement)...nor did I ever even say nor imply it..but, hey? That’s the thing about text, nuances are often lost on some people, and Ppl interpret as ‘they’ hear/see.. versus the author/poster’s intentions..Meh, I get it..(we’re all guilty at some point)..and I can appreciate your desire to ensure ppl understood it is a real kidnap case..
