Police: Remains not those of Kyle Fleischmann

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say human remains found near a construction site in southwest Charlotte belong to a murder victim, but not Kyle Fleischmann.

On Tuesday, the medical examiner released a description of the victim that matches the Fleischmann case almost perfectly. Investigators looked at the possibility this week, but we're told that police are absolutely positive the remains found last week are not those of Fleischmann......

The medical examiner says the victim is likely a white male between the ages of 18 and 30, who was killed sometime between 2002 and 2007.

Anyone hear anything more about this. Please let me know updates. Thank you.

wow, that is still way too big a range for me to even begin looking. I wish they could narrow it down by height and/or some defining characteristics, and possibly a reconstruction. But that will probably take awhile to analyze and put together.

well, here's something to start us with - every white guy 18-30 that went missing between 2002 and 2007, less than I thought there would be. I did not include Kyle Fleischmann, as he's already been ruled out:

Travis Baker

I'm also including this guy because he is just outside the age range:
Brian Lowery
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/lowery_brian.html

also, a little outside the age range, but he is pretty young-looking, so why not:
John Sansone
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/sansone_john.html

Carr Edward Smith
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/smith_carr.html

ok so I looked everywhere to find more, but I guess there were a lot less than I thought!

I can't find info about whether the remains were identified or not but they are not in Namus or Doe Network.

Some of the above links are gone but here is a forum discussion about the case.
http://z10.invisionfree.com/usedtobedoe/index.php?showtopic=41048
and news links that still work

The place the remains were found is Dixie River Road/ Steele Creek area. "not far from the road in the 5200 block of Dixie River Road, near Interstate 485 and Steele Creek Road"

It was not Carr Smith or Travis Baker since they were found elsewhere

Travis Baker was found. It turned out to be drug dealer I believe. Buried him and his car... Terrible thing for the family but some measure of peace that he was found and I believe his killer convicted. It was very hard on the family for sure.. They help with searches of missing people now.

First appearance on the DDP spreadsheet has a top match of 83.6cM and six matches over 40cM.

His admixture on the DDP spreadsheet appears to be about 1/3 Native American with a decent amount of Mediterranean heritage as well. I'm wondering if he could potentially be Hispanic?

It's a thought. The Mediterranean heritage might have come from the Moors when they were in control of Spain. It's why some people of Spanish descent look dark-skinned while others (mainly descended from those in northern Spain) have blond or red hair.

I've seen many Hispanic admixture pie charts similar to this John Doe's: ~1/3 Northern European, -1/3 Mediterranean, and -1/3 Amerindian/Native American. Also, his highest match has gone up to 135.5cM. Hopefully he is identified soon.

Interestingly, this area is close to land my father's side of the family has owned since they moved to North Carolina in the 1910s. It's not at all surprising that these remains were found during construction. There has been massive commercial and residential development in the area since the completion of I-485, the interstate loop around Charlotte, in 2006-ish (if I'm remembering correctly).

His oracle4 admixture has been added some time ago. Interestingly, he has Mayan and Southern Italian/Northern Spainish admixture, Mayan admixture indicates he could be from Guatemala/Mexica/Belize/Honduras/El Salvador

It really brings hope to see efforts to solve a case from 2008 (!)

Bumping up. I assume DDP is still working? NamUs profile is still up. He must not be one of the faster I.D.s to make, but I hope he will be identified.

Found Christmas Eve 2008 - with a PMI of up to 3 years. Gosh14-17 years without his name is too long. Thinking of his family this Christmas and hope it's the last that they will be without him.

I do not see a Namus profile on this case.
