North Carolina deputy 'planted heroin and meth in a car belonging to his ex's new boyfriend' | Daily Mail Online
A North Carolina deputy is accused of planting heroin and meth in a car belonging to his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend after telling colleagues to investigate an anonymous tip-off.
Deputy David Scott Burroughs was fired and arrested after police found the drugs in the vehicle but became suspicious about his story.
Anson County police say it was 'a red flag' that the heroin and meth was found in the car in exactly the same place four days after the tip.
Images show Sheriff Landric Reid leading away his former deputy after he was arrested. He will appear in court later this month.
Sheriff Reid told Fox 13: 'This was a revenge case where he planted drugs in this male's car.
'This male was dating his ex, and he wanted revenge, and he wanted his ex-girlfriend back.'
Burroughs is accused of buying the drugs in March 2018 and then planting them in the vehicle.
Burroughs was said to have been fired immediately and the State Bureau of Investigation began to look into the allegations.
Burroughs was arrested last week and released on bond Monday.
