Can't believe this happened almost a year ago already!

While we don't know if Ross was carrying a weapon, we know that Clark was (Ross used Clark's gun in the double murders). Seems to me that at least Clark was uncertain about his safety if/when meeting Ross. JMO

Seems to me Clark was executed (shot in the head) and Woods had more time to run.

From the quoted link:

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- An autopsy report was released Friday for 14-year-old Lyric Woods who was shot and killed in Orange County.

According to the report, Lyric Woods was shot seven times near a power-line easement in the western part of the county.

In August, officials released a report for 18-year-old Devin Clark, whose body was found with Woods on Sept. 18, 2022. The report stated that Clark was shot 6 times.

Two years ago Sept 16, 2022 and still no trial.

From the quoted link:

It took 17 days for a team of investigators to find and arrest then 17-year-old Issiah Ross in Delaware.

[..]

In the midst of their grief, and court dates, Lyric’s parents, with Blackwood, worked to change things for the future.

‘Lyric and Devin’s Law’ now allows public identification of juvenile suspects, and a description of the threat they pose to the community, to help find and take them into custody.

“That timeline of 17 days could have been reduced, as could the damage that was done through not being able to tell what had happened and who was responsible,” said Blackwood.

Unbelievable -- I can't believe more than two years for the arraignment!

I'm sure October 2025 can't get here fast enough for the families of the victims.

From the quoted MSM:

Ross, who plans to argue the killings were done in self-defense, declined the deal.

“What is your decision about whether you want to accept or reject the state’s offer?” Reese asked Ross.

“I would like to reject the offer, ma’am,” Ross replied.

Really? He shot the victims in the back as they were running from him!

Ross also made no counter-offer to the plea agreement-- where the prosecutor appeared willing to entertain a lesser sentence than proposed. Ross will deserve life without parole after this. JMO

Wow, they've moved through 5 witnesses in lightning speed--including the mother and father of two of the victims!

11:36 a.m.: The defense cross-examined Dexter Clark.

11:26 a.m.: The prosecution called up their fourth witness, Dexter Clark Jr., Devin's father, to the stand.

Dexter explained that he reported his 9mm firearm was missing when he found that Devin was missing. He said that he and Devin would go shooting on the weekends with a local shooting club sometimes, and that the gun that was missing was the one Devin would use.

The last time he saw the gun was a week or two before Devin's death. He has not seen it since.

11:15 a.m.: Lyric Woods's mother, Elizabeth Cannada, is called to the stand as the third witness after the court returned from a 15-minute recess.

Cannada said that it was not like Woods to "worry her" when she saw that Woods was missing from her bedroom. She said she assumed someone kidnapped Woods when she didn't return home the next morning.

"It's so far-fetched that someone would want to hurt her," Cannada said after testifying that she was told by local fire department chiefs that one of the bodies was her daughter.

Cannada said that Woods never mentioned Devin Clark to her.

10:52 a.m.: The court paused for a 15-minute recess.

It was estimated that this trial may take two weeks. At the speed it has moved at this morning, it may not take nearly that long. JMO
