Rogers Lee Inge Jr., an employee of Universal Health Care, was supposed to be looking after Dontarious Batts, but the caretaker instead brought him along to his other gig working as a janitor at Cleveland High School in Clayton, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

This is so sad. That poor young man. Being disabled and apparently needing to have 24/hr assistance. Can’t imagine this was the first time his caregiver left him. I wonder why the caregiver didn’t leave the windows open at least.

Will be interesting to see if he actually went out and checked on him. But in the end it’s a moot point since the young man died.

What a sad, avoidable tragedy. Ingle called 911 and met police at a fire station. He admitted leaving Dontarious alone, thinking it wasn't that hot, and not checking on him.

His jury trial begins October 13, 2025. I hope he receives the maximum sentence.
Dontarious, I'm so sorry this happened to you.
