I agree....the operator was very, very good at gleaning info in a calm and extremely professional manner. Kudos to her.

Reminds me of Delano's mom when he was taken.

That caught my eye as well. Need to hear from family, neighbors and friends.

I don't believe we usually see these various options of type of death that it might have been listed in a press release.

Seems like the medical examiner is not aware that the 911 call has been released where the wife reports her husband was shot.

Cue the Forensic Files / Peter Thomas voiceover......because I swear I've seen this 'episode' a hundred times.

Re: wife reported her husband had been shot.
Wife also reported that she doesn’t know who shot him and that she didn’t see a gun.
How does she know he had been shot?
Perhaps there was a visible bullet that exited the body?

This is eerily similar to Dr. Sutorius' murder.

Yes, Seeseas, I also wondered about how she knew he was shot...is it easy to visually and instantly distinguish between a gunshot wound and other type of wound? Could she have jumped to that conclusion because of the sound that woke her up?

Also, in the 911 call when she mentioned the back door, Could she have meant that she literally saw the door open? Just trying to think about different possibilities.....

Here is an excerpt from the 911 call where she says the door was open:

DISPATCHER: Was your husband in an argument with anybody any time soon?

CALLER: No.. no he never locks the back door and the back door was open

DISPATCHER: You said he wasn’t having an argument with anybody and the only thing you heard was a noise and the dogs started barking and then you came downstairs?

CALLER: Yeah, I was asleep and I thought it was thunder or something because we’ve had a lot of thunderstorms.

BBM

Treading lightly, a couple of things don't make sense to me. I don't understand why she says her husband hadn't been in argument and then she immediately changes the subject to the back door never being locked and open. It's kind of a non sequitur. And why would thinking you heard thunder make you decide to come downstairs?

Just an aside...If my husband never locked the back door we'd be having a huge disagreement about that. If he leaves me at home to go somewhere and I find a door unlocked, he hears about it when he gets home. Needless to say, it rarely happens. :D
It's a huge security risk to leave doors and windows unlocked so you and your family are vulnerable. Anyone can just walk in. I don't think I'm that unusual in this regard, so I'm really wondering why Mrs. M hasn't made an issue previously about the back door being unlocked. Or locked it herself. JMO

Was the dog in the room with her with the door closed?

Now if hubby leaves the door unlocked. Then why not let the dog roam free instead of keeping him in a closed room.

Now if the door was open. Then the dog would have heard movements of someone trying to exit the house which would make the dog follow the scent or sound to the door of exit.

Now if this was a suicide by gunshot. Then the coroner should already know this by simply looking at the victims index finger. Jmo.

But if all fails.

What killer would not track down the sleeping spouse?

A hitman maybe?

Now if the wife was killed. Hubby would have been indicted by a grand jury already. Jmo.

I'm sure his insurance carriers are waiting for updates as well. Jmo.

I agree. Especially the part about "if the wife had been killed". I will add that all of us would be reporting high hinky meter readings, also, if the husband went downstairs and found his wife dead and said she always leaves the door open...

If thunder and my dog barking woke me up and I went downstairs and found my husband dead, I and my dog would be in the car and outta there. I guess she checked his pulse because she seemed certain

She called 911 from her yard? If she did not hear a car drive off, after the "thunder", then the killer is probably in the bushes. Call from the car while driving to the Police Station!

Or maybe she is just not used to having to act in a crisis. In the South, that is the man's job. Southern women are more sheltered. I guess I need to listen to the tape because if she sounds like Blanche Dubois, it is understandable.

I did view his website and comments on his work and it seems he is sought after as a plastic surgeon. But mistakes are made by everyone. He could be involved in litigation. Just trying to stay open to all possibilities. More information should be available soon. LE did say that the community was NOT in danger, so doesn't that usually mean it was personal/targeted?

Listening to the 911 call right now. That 911 operator is very good! Asking questions that seem totally innocuous and helping the caller stay calm.

I would have been sooo scared that the shooter was still somewhere close by, waiting to shoot me!

ETA: "Is your dog going to bite anybody?" "No." Great question.

street view of 43 treetop, Arden, nc

(http://earth.google.com) SORRY, I just clicked to check and it takes you to a page to download Google Earth

Wooded and neighbors are spaced beyond hearing. Unless someone reported hearing the gun shot. There is only one streetlight a few houses to the right, so it must have been pretty dark in the street (she told dispatcher that she was in yard and then said street, as I understood it)

The operator/dispatcher asked her about cars and BM said there were 2 in the driveway. Maybe she did not want to leave her husband?

Elley Mae posteds links to maps on page 1. Thanks. I have friends in Asheville and used to visit quite often, so I hurriedly skipped to page 3 and did not read 1 & 2 before posting. Sorry for repeating

I am always impressed by Websleuthers quick responses with lots more info than media. I read somewhere that a lot of our members are older and retired.

And on top of their game, I might add!
