Identified! NC - Durham, WhtFem Pre 60, UP64095, abandoned house, Bromley Collect'n coat, Danskin shoes, Dec'19 - Evanir Rosa Roglio

Melissa Ann Poitra

Recently added to Namus. This woman was last seen in 2005 in Durham. Size of clothing seems accurate based on height/weight and pictures.
Wow. That's quite a possibility. Since the Durham PD is the contact on both ends I would think they are considering this, especially since she was just now added to NAMUS despite being last seen fifteen years earlier.

Nobody has been ruled out yet. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

I wonder if there's any connection to this case and the man found in the freezer at an abandoned house that burned down?
I think you maybe mean this one?
SC - SC - Norway, Body found in freezer at abandoned "haunted" house - 03 January 2021
Durham NC is about a 5 hour drive from Norway SC. I can't rule it out entirely but it seems unlikely in MOO for the two to be connected.

The link here and in the current NAMUS file directs you to a site off Sherron Rd. but also gives a pinned location for Bevidere Ln. (this looks to be a new subdivision under construction). Both of these are W of Carpenter Pond Rd. The Carpenter Pond Rd address is also very near the Durham Co/Wake Co line and the farm itself has a Raleigh address (Raleigh is nearly all in Wake Co, but not sure who would have jurisdiction here). Googlemaps can often have mistakes. Just wondering if anyone can straighten out all this conflicting info.
I find that the coordinates posted on the NamUs site are often inaccurate. I think they are purposefully “generalized,” maybe to dissuade the morbidly curious from poking around, or for safety’s sake in the case of abandoned buildings.
Like many of you I was curious to see that the clothing was described as being next to the body. Also, that no apparent cause of death was listed. The fact that this was cold weather clothing found next to the body, and all found in a small closet or anteroom made me think of terminal burrowing and paradoxical undressing. This occurs in the last stages of hypothermia when the victim seeks out a confined space, and because their senses are telling them that they are hot rather than cold, the victim paradoxically removes their clothing.
All this is purely conjecture. I was hesitant to post it because of confusion about the location- just how isolated was this property where she was found? Then again hypothermia can come on rather quickly and this poor soul may have been incapacitated or disoriented for any number of reasons. Why no keys, phone or purse? Was she a victim of robbery? A medical or psychiatric crisis? Was she homeless? Somehow I don’t think so, I think someone out there is missing her.

Someone could be and probably is missing her even if she was homeless.

I think you're right about the hypothermia. That was my initial impression.

Many of the approximate locations are calculated by the mapping program. If LE only enters a city and state, for instance, Googlemaps or Apple Maps will take you to the middle of town. If there's a street name, it picks a point somewhere on that street. Yeah, it's confusing, and I imagine sometimes it's a decision as you say. But sometimes I think it's just lack of information. So many Namus entries are so sketchy.

An earlier post claimed an address on Carpenter Pond Rd. based on GPS coordinates from Namus. These no longer seem to be there, at least not under the heading "GPS coordinates". The "Map" reference at Namus looks generic or random like you suggest.

I was concerned before about the owner of the Carpenter Pond property having been suggested as a suspect in earlier posts when it wasn't clear the address was even right. There was a suggestion of MSM reporting that address also but no MSM link was ever given. Maybe knowing the exact address is just morbid curiosity but if there was foul play it would be important.

You both could be right about the hypothermia/burrowing hypothesis.

Evanir's WS thread:
For the third time this year, a group of volunteers has used forensic genealogy to help authorities in North Carolina identify an unknown body.

Evanir Rosa Roglio, 69, left behind a note when she vanished from her North Raleigh home in 2010. The note said she was leaving, she would not be found and she was passing along some personal items to her granddaughter.

Evanir moved to North Carolina from Brazil 15 years prior, and some family members believed she had returned. However, she left behind her cellphone and passport.

Nearly a decade later and six miles away, a teenage girl working on a school photo project in neighboring Durham found a body in a closet of an abandoned building, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, a national information clearinghouse and resource center for missing and unidentified body cases across the United States.

Article also states that a noose was found near the body. Evanir sounds homesick and lonely from what I've read. Though, her NamUs and that of the doe are both still up? Can anyone find any other articles about this ID? I'm in the UK so I'm not getting any good results. If the Enterprise article is the only one reporting this ID, I'm a bit suspect.

If the Enterprise article is the only one reporting this ID, I'm a bit suspect. The UID's NamUs file is now closed but Evanir Roglio's is still up.

The NamUs file for this UID is now down, but the one for Evanir Rosa Roglio is still up. She is also still listed as missing here. Evanir Rosa Rogolio – CUE – Community United Effort

So far that Enterprise from 2021 is the only MSM report I could find.
