CHEROKEE, N.C. (WLOS) — Authorities are intensifying their search for a missing 25-year-old man last seen in Cherokee on Sunday, Aug. 10.

According to the Cherokee Indian Police Department, Elijah Maney was last seen entering the woods near upper Lambert Branch Road after midnight.

Update

Cherokee Indian Police Department, Cherokee Fire Department, and NRE have searched the wooded area where Elijah Maney was last seen along with surrounding areas, spoke with neighbors in the area, searched river banks, and have been flying the drones using thermal imaging, officers have spoke with area business managers, and employees, have been reviewing video footage, and following up on leads that the Cherokee Police Department receives.

CHEROKEE, N.C. (WLOS) — A cash reward is now being offered for a Cherokee man who has been missing for more than a week.

Elijah Maney, 25, was last seen leaving his residence on Aug. 10, according to the Cherokee Indian Police Department. The latest update was that a $500 reward was being offered for any information regarding Maney's disappearance or for his safe return

CHEROKEE, N.C. (WLOS) — Elijah Maney, a 25-year-old Cherokee man who went missing over a week ago, has been found, Cherokee officials confirmed.

In a Facebook post on Thursday morning, Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Michell Hicks announced Maney was "located safe.

In a separate post on Thursday, Aug. 21, Hicks said the Cherokee Indian Police Department received a report that Maney was "in the kudzu at the top of the mountain across from Peter's Pancake." After determining that he was not injured, law enforcement offered Maney food and water at the pancake restaurant, according to the post. He was then taken to the hospital for further evaluation, the post said.
