I've often wondered about statement analysis and (sadly) common incorrect grammar.

I'm looking for it, but somewhere, mom says they want to "flesh her out"... WTH? That didn't sit well with me. Kinda like Billie Dunn not wanting to look in the ugly fields... later Hailey was found in an ugly field...or Mark Redwine saying Dylan was "looking over us"... later he's found up on a mountain. Hmmm....

That one kinda jumped out at me, too -- but I do wonder if she actually said "flush her out" (find her) and the accent just led to the "flesh" transcription? (Haven't actually listened to the interview, myself.)

The double negative mentioned up thread a tad: A lot of people in the south that sound less than educated talk the way she does in those cases nothing = anything. Translated from you know what to English it means "We did not do anything like that". The flesh her out comment does give me chills.
snipped by me

Understood. I had read on a SA site someone questioning that, how much regional dialect is taken into account when analyzing a person's speech. I need to go refresh my memory on just what they said about that (for my own education).

ok those with built-in advanced face recognition - is this Erica??

(I've included the pic from the missing poster to compare...)

[removed additional image reason noted]

This picture is Erica. Maybe the way her head is turned or that the smile is bigger makes it somehow appear that it isn't her, but this is Erica.

I see denial. She's convinced herself that nothing is wrong, that SHE has done nothing wrong. I am on the fence as to whether or not the parents killed her/caused her disappearance, but the fact remains, she has done PLENTY wrong here. The lack of love is painfully obvious.

The son that is (according to mom) bi-polar, is he the son that reported Erica missing?

PS: I see nothing frail about her, either. Nothing.

Right ! Whether or not mom had anything to do with Erica's disappearance, the lack of concern over where she is for 2 years screams ANTI Maternal instinct right? So if she has no maternal instinct to fear about a missing kid for 2 years, does she have maternal instinct when she sees her child suffering, crying, in pain, bleeding, starving? Apparently not.

I wonder if they sold her too. That sentence makes me nauseated just typing it. But the jbr magazines and book really looks bad on the parents. The son would have been too small to know that case right? I have a bad feeling about the mom. Nothing she says adds up. Who on here would take their child to stay with a lady that they only met with briefly at McDonald's..not me.

I don't think much about the JBR stuff really. How many true crimes books do most WSers have in their house at any given time? I have no clue what books are here. There could be 20 different ones that fit every type of scenario , so if my kid came up missing, what would that mean to LE?
I'm not saying these parents are innocent by any stretch of the imagination. But I think JBR became such a common household name that books about her are in a big % of american homes at this point. js :)

I agree she meant flush her out. Especially since the attorney followed up with the statement that she could be anywhere in the country and this (Dr. Phil) would be a way to find her.

Too bad that her awesome searching on FB didn't work out.

it's the combo of jbr books + remodeling a home info together that bother me. kind of a hiw to cover it up blueprint, if you will...

ok, let's assume she said "flush". even that can raise a red flag but i dont have it in me yet this morning to get too detailed, but i wonder if they have a sewer system or septic tank?

There's those plans for that new well built in feb 2013 listed on the search warrant....speaking of flush vs. flesh.

ETA: went back and looked it reads --- Documentation of well construction on 2/21/13.

I agree. I read one article that stated they had marked pages with specific details. Just weird.

You know, the son could indeed be Bipolar and have rages and yet still be a victim of abuse himself and have nothing to do with his sister's disappearance. His rage could be triggered by the abuse he has experienced and witnessed and he may act out in a more violent way due to poor impulse control associated with Bipolar.

Actually, I think bipolar kids are very often victims of parental abuse, especially when parents are uneducated about mental health issues and think the kid is just being incredibly defiant and needs more firm discipline. It can be a real mess.

I don't really believe the son did anything to the child. I think he was Bipolar and violent and angry at these abusive parents. I believe this mother is abusive and lacks any real maternal instinct. She takes kids in to make herself feel like she must be a good person, but it's all about her and not about the children.

When I say I believe the mother--what I believe is that there was a Nan and Casey just dropped her child off with Nan and kept the money for herself. In a way that's selling the child off, isn't it. You get rid of child and keep the money.

But, sometimes all the details of the Biltmore and the horses make me wonder if it isn't all a complete fantasy she's created. I really have no idea. JMO

I does sound a little fantastical to me, too. Sure, we have NO idea what the address or contact information might be, but... it's near the Biltmore! She rides horses! They just happen to have an awesome tutor for a neighbor...

I almost believe her because the story is so crazy yet she seems to see nothing wrong with it. Even now, she says of course Erica can stay with this person she doesn't know.

Wtf? If they disappeared her in a violent way they sure are delusional in their story. I mean even stupid people come up with better ones.
