LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man.

Frank McAlpin Wheeler, 62, was last seen on March 24 at his home located at 5641 Daybrook Court in Stanley, N.C.

Wheeler’s employer in Huntersville contacted him to see if he was coming to work that day and couldn’t get in touch with him.

On March 27, deputies did a welfare check at his home and he was not located. His truck was also not at the residence.

Wheeler is described as a white male, 5-foot-9, approximately 165 pounds with blue eyes and balding brown hair.

He is possibly driving a red 2004 Toyota Tacoma with an N.C. registration WYV-2214.

Anyone with information on Mr. Wheeler’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050.

I'm local. It would be helpful to know where in Huntersville.

Lincoln County deputies searching for missing 62-year-old man
SNIPPED:
Relatives say Wheeler was last heard from on Thursday, March 24 when his employer in Huntersville contacted him to see if he was coming to work

Did someone from his work actually talk to him on 3/24? Could he have gone missing the day before? Was he at work on the 23rd? Could have been in an accident on his way home or on the 24th to work. Wish we had more details. IMO

Unfortunately Mr. Wheeler was found deceased at his home - so strange to me since the article above said that LE had performed a welfare check at his home. But this article kind of sounds like that's iffy because it mentions none of the keys fit the locks:

Previously-missing 62-year-old man found dead in his Lincoln County home

Now I'm wondering (since neighbors say it hasn't been at his house) where is his truck?

Very sad outcome. Prayers for Mr Wheeler and his family.

Yes, where is the truck?
Article states no foul play but the truck is mysteriously missing.
So did the brother find a key or police break a window/door to get in?

Yes, it's strange they indicate no foul play but his truck is nowhere around? Someone drove his truck away?

From the article -
"...Neighbors say that Wheeler’s truck has not been at the home. Foul play is not currently suspected in Wheeler’s death."

His truck hasn't been at the home - since when? Seems there should be a timeline with that kind of statement?? Are there cameras nearby? A guy found dead at home but his vehicle is not there. So many questions.

Okay, this article is pretty good... indicates his vehicle was found in a locked building on the property. I guess that makes sense.

"...Wheeler’s brother had a group of keys but none fit any of the doors at the residence, the sheriff’s office said. Neighbors also reportedly said that if Wheeler’s vehicle was not in his driveway, he was probably not at home. The vehicle was discovered Monday in a locked building on property."

ETA, RIP Mr. Wheeler.

“The sheriff’s office reported his employer contacted his brother to see if he was coming to work, and Wheeler told the employer he would not be coming to work because of his illness.”

Huh? Wheeler’s brother told the employer?

Nothing in previous articles mentioned illness.

That is very odd to me. Why wouldn't Frank have called in sick himself?

Nice catch... I guess I was skimming in that paragraph since I assumed I knew what it said...

Right? And what illness?
